Next year should be better than this year but I still wouldn’t expect them to be competitive.
Vaughn is never going to be more than "just a guy." Assuming he doesn't suddenly flip a power switch, I don't see how you bring him back next year. Rather see them sign any B/C-tier free agent at 1B with at least some pop.
He was on the 40-man in Spring Training. To go down at the beginning of the season, he would be optioned.
