Anyone who says it truly isn't serious. Let's be honest. The level of play is likely to have more impact (it won't be good).

Yeah, I thought he would have left for a regular national job.

White Sox Minor leaguers choosing free agency
Bob Sacamano replied to WestEddy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Agreed. Especially since they sent down Colas...twice (and one of the times being with expanded rosters). -
When your bar is "at least he got up off his seat,"....oh boy.
-
The ironic part is, if you invest in the scouting and analytics and cut back on the reps, you would probably sell more tickets if the team is better. Is it even necessary to have ticket reps these days compared to before internet? Now you can just jump on and buy whatever plan you want. Definitely not necessary to have a bigger sales rep staff compared to the other two.

He does say that about the team he was the Farm System Director (or whatever the f*** the title was).
-
Until Ramos forces his way onto the roster, there’s no one else to consistently play at 3B. You go that route if you still had Burger or someone else who could use the at bats.
-
Yeah not a lot of teams could pull it off. Unless you’re open to guys who were rookies this past season as well.
-
Who would the Dodgers have even wanted for a guy like Outman? Dodgers were pretty thin in the OF and needed him. Why would they deal him for nothing? Don’t really match up now and likely not last year. You can’t just say “we should trade for this guy” like we’re some team that has a bunch of guys that teams would want. Varsho is a terrible example as Diamondbacks received a top catching prospect and an MLB OF’r. Sox couldn’t do a deal like that a year ago. Easy to suggest what guys should be traded for but you conveniently leave off who you would offer up from the Sox. Hmmm Edit: I'll give you props on Stone Garrett since that dude could have been signed as a free agent (of course, after 29 teams passed on him without claiming him).

Idk, their plan for next couple years is probably the “catch lightning in a bottle” approach after filling holes. I guess with that (admittedly s%*#) plan, keeping Robert in CF and 2/3 spot is great.
-
I agree. No one will meet the price now. The price 2 years closer to free agency? Sure, as the price would decrease from what it is now.
-
If he’s having a good year and a trading team only takes on 2 months of salary, I doubt Sox would have to much, if any, cash.
-
Yeah, I think you just keep him and hope to either trade him or release (trade/release depending on how he’s playing) him mid-season if Ramos is playing well. But if they did something shocking like eating half his salary and dumping him this off-season, I wouldn’t be mad either.

I have no problem with anything he said. Very hard team to like.

2024 Offseason Plan - "Try" to Compete Edition
Bob Sacamano replied to ChiSox59's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Alright someone else then. DeJong at 2B, Crawford at SS. (I’ll admit, Frazier was just added there as cheap, left-handed stop gap coming off a 1.7 WAR season, better than Whit). -
2024 Offseason Plan - "Try" to Compete Edition
Bob Sacamano replied to ChiSox59's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'll be honest, if they're going to have bring in a decent amount of free agents, please prioritize defense/athleticism and pitching. At least play sound fundamental baseball and pitch well. Playing good defense and having good pitching with little hitting is at least better than being poor in every aspect of the game. Go sign DeJong, Adam Frazier, Kiermaier in a platoon in RF, Austin Hedges and 3 mid-rotation type arms. Sign like 3 relievers to one year deals. -

I feel Giolito is definitely signing a deal like that. 1 year deal with a player option for 2025. -

I tend to agree. -
2024 Offseason Plan - "Try" to Compete Edition
Bob Sacamano replied to ChiSox59's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I keep trying to think of how I would build the roster but whichever way I go kinda depends on what they think of Sosa and Colas. Like if they want to start either/both on the roster and just let them play or not. My prediction is they may not be high on either and may just sign a stop gap at both 2B (Adam Frazier) and SS (DeJong) (until Montgomery is MLB ready at SS). -

Yeah free agency isn't very deep. Not a lot of top talent players available. -

Ha I would wager highly that they add both Whit and Salvy. -
They did a farewell video?
