With no minor league season and him not pitching in games for more than a season, you would be getting a couple inning starts out of him early as he builds his way up.
I'm thinking couple months minimum if he is destroying minor league pitching. You may be right though. Hopefully there will be a fall or winter league where prospects can play later in the year but that seems like wishful thinking.
I think he's more effective as a backup personally. I would rather find a hitter first player to be the DH as opposed to career year catcher. Plus, Vaughn should figure into the equation next year if he's hitting the first couple of months of the season.
This is a fair point honestly. The season is already reduced as is. But no reason they still couldn't tender him a contract and still find an upgrade in the off-season.
I'd probably try to shake it up a bit more and go Anderson, Moncada, Robert, Grandal, Abreu. But if you must bat Abreu 4th, then flip Grandal and Abreu.
