Nothing changes for this year. Joc is a free agent after this year. Plus, Joc also plays 1B and can DH this season. It's a Dodgers wetdream being able to have this deep of a bench.
With a pandemic going on and the possibility of the season getting cut short this year (and even next year for all we know), it makes sense to take the money now.
Honestly, it would be pretty bs to get to the World Series only to find out a day or two before half your roster tests positive with COVID. Definitely thinking this season deserves an asterisk for sure.
Makes sense. The team has been bad since 2012, you had Cubs fans also tuning in (Sox/Cubs of course) and there hasn't been baseball (minus Spring Training) in like 10 months.
I agree. And Dunning will be 26 in December. I wouldn't be that concerned about his service time starting. Get some innings in relief and then stretch out next spring and start the year in the minors.
Pittsburgh and Baltimore are also possibilities apparently. I guess some MLB team should play there.
There's only 7 days where there would be an issue with the Pirates.
Agreed. Plus, with no minor league season, you don't really have the gifted reason of "needs more time in the minors." What are you going to say when you call him up a week into a 60-game season, we needed to see him field more groundballs and live bp?
Taxi squad roster doesn't mean he would 100% play at the MLB level. What kind of action would he get this year that would improve his value as a trade chip?
I don't think it was question of "what does a clusterfuck mean" but "what is a clusterfuck" in response to someone stating "This is a clusteruck" as in specify what the clusterfuck is.
In all seriousness though, if Moncada has to miss some games due to his experience with COVID (possibly more than just speculation on our parts), who will play 3B? Leury or Mendick? Some combo? Cuthbert? Might as well let Yermin start there for the first 5-6 innings and then defensive sub rest of game.
