  1. True. I guess they can role with Cease and if he isn't good, they can let him work in the minors and replace him with Kopech. Going withca better starter than Q is probably the way to go. Edit: unless of course he loves Chicago and just wants to pitch for a contender in some capacity and is willing to sign as a long-reliever giving us more depth when we add someone else too.
  2. If he is cool keeping a spot warm for Kopech for 2 months before shifting to a long relief role, I'm good with that.
  3. He also missed all of 2019 due to TJ and no minor league games in 2020 to work his way back from. Don't think we saw his complete upside. Having said that, I don't hate the move.
  4. Probably. He doesn't seem MLB ready yet though.
  5. You wanna offer a 34 year old a close to 1 year/$20 mill deal? That's about what the QO will be (if its even a thing in the next CBA). Edit: he may have received a QO in a prior offseason so he wouldn't be eligible.
  6. Was still a higher asking price. Harold (or someone else) said they wanted Vaughn.
  7. Higher price at that point. Plus a different GM in Texas (Young was hired what, last week?).
  8. His contract was more front-loaded. The back part isn't as bad.
  9. A better, healthier version of the role Gio filled last season.
  10. The Jerry special, eh?
  11. Get the band back together: sign Semien after trading Madrigal for Sale to play 2B, sign Robertson and Colome for the pen, and sign Kevin Smith!
  12. Agreed. Switch Moncada and Grandal in that above lineup and I'm good with it.
  13. Fuck it. Throw out the offer you offered Wheeler and work from there. (sorry to those who see this thread being revived and think there is any updates).
  14. He seems too injury prone. If they were to add him and someone else to split time in LF and DH and fill-in CF or RF on occasion, I wouldn't that that.
  15. I'd take Bradley for his defense alone.
  16. Not yet. But I'm on my first cup of coffee so I expect some movement in the next 30 minutes.
  17. Jerry is getting up there in age to the point where he probably wouldn't even be paying the last couple years of a potential long-term deal. That also scares me and makes me feel like prospects can be dealt in a "go for it" season in a year or two as he also realizes this.
  18. This should never be "expected" when Jerry owns the team.
  19. Just doesn't seem as exciting considering GMs can already call either other or video chat. Hope I'm wrong, but I don't see a lot of activity going on at this year's "winter meetings."
  20. Doing pre and post game show for the Sox!
  21. Lol So never sign good free agents....got it.
  22. Can't see the Astros being to eager to deal another OF when they are losing 3.
  23. Yeah it will probably be a rotating DH with Garcia and Collins being the extra bat most of the time while giving others a day to DH here and there.
