  1. QUOTE (whitesoxwinner @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 12:34 PM) Prospect wise yes and he probably will be starting once he comes off the DL but who knows Hopefully by that time, Delmonico is just in the majors playing LF post-Melky trade or DHing.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 12:14 PM) While probably a complete pipedream, where would Willie Calhoun play? We do have that Moncada guy over at 2B, and Calhoun is knocking at the doorstep. OF I would guess. Looking at his numbers, I really don't see the Dodgers moving him for Gonzalez and/or Cabrera.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 11:05 AM) I do know the Dodgers had a scout at his start vs. the Cubs on Monday when he was stellar specifically looking at him. Source? Not doubting you, I just don't remember seeing this.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 10:54 AM) Do the Sox control Migo next year as well (via arbitration) or is he a free agent? Free agent.
  5. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 10:50 AM) I have to imagine Melky is the last piece that should be dealt. Everyone else seems off limits (perhaps Avi, but he is likely more useful to us currently). Gonzalez I think goes. Maybe Holland and/or Pelfrey for PTBNL or cash considerations.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 10:50 AM) Same. Granted the padres just unloaded 3 useful players but to the extent the white sox overperformed in the first half it was because of a good bullpen. This bullpen will be the worst i've ever seen, and imo the big reason we underperformed the last 2 years was lack of a truly good bullpen. Add in the fact the rotation is trash and the lineup is awful (no Avi for 2 weeks makes it even worse along with Melky possibly being traded soon), we could get the #1 pick.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 10:37 AM) You can also sign scrap heap relievers every winter. Some even pan out. This^ they'll sign a couple guys to MLB deals and then a handful of guys to minor league deals.
  8. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 10:20 AM) I don't get the last few trades, especially the trading of Swarczak and Jennings, where nothing of use came back. I wish the Sox did not trade Kahnle to the Yankees and instead packaged him with Swarzak and/or Jennings to get a better prospect, for example Brinson from the Brewers. You also don't end up with the #30 prospect (Rutherford) without Kahnle. I don't understand why people assume you can package any 2 players and assume the other team has to say yes. "Oh these 2 should equal the value of this guy so that's who they should have been traded for." Sorry, that's not how it works.
  9. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 10:28 AM) At this point I'll be shocked if we don't get the #1 pick. I think the Phillies underperformed in the first half (and by Baseruns they're 7 games below where they "should" be right now) and with this bullpen we're going to blow a lot of the few leads we're going to have the rest of the season. Giants too I think underperformed.
  10. QUOTE (mac9001 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 10:25 AM) It's strange seeing people excited over this kid and so down on Cordell. I personally view Cordell more favorably, but I wonder if people would have felt this kid was an appropriate return for Swarzak? We could very well see both of these guys in the lineup on Opening Day. Gillaspie would have to earn a spot out of Spring Training however.
  11. QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 10:18 AM) @ChuckGarfien 38s39 seconds ago More As for Melky Cabrera, White Sox are willing to eat money in a deal. For them, it's about getting the best possible prospects in return. As it should be.
  12. Wow a lot more than I would have expected for Jennings.
  13. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) My vote would be to keep Giolito in AAA for the time being. He needs to be consistent from start to start. Right now he flashes great potential and dominates one start, only to get shelled in his next outing. Yeah I kinda want to keep in AAA but I kinda want Coop to work with him for at least a month, whether that means having him work out of the bullpen for a month and start a few games or strictly pitch in relief.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 09:22 AM) Yes, but if you are drafting BPA, and I have no idea why you wouldn't with a top 3 pick, most of that pool is eaten up giving the draftees anywhere near their slot, which I think most expect. True but still.
  15. Trade Gonzalez for whatever in next couple days, call up Lopez to replace him. Try to trade Holland or Pelfrey and if that fails, stick one in the pen or go with 6-man rotation in September (or sooner) when rosters expand and call up Giolito. I know he wasn't in the question, but I wouldn't even bother with Fulmer this year.
  16. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 09:15 AM) Because if we only get the number two pick, we won't Obsess about it at all. Haha it doesn't really matter as long as we draft top 3. It's all about the bonus pool allocation though. It starts to drop off pretty steadily.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 09:03 AM) Not if it is in September, I believe That doesn't really matter. If they called him up in September and he opened the following season on the MLB team, we would still have him for 6 years. It would still count towards his service time. They could send him down to the minors to open the year, but in order to gain the extra season of control, it would take longer (example: Moncada).
  18. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 08:57 AM) I actually think Cordell might be better than Gomez. Gomez has hit for average, but projects to have "30" grade power. He profiles as a solid batting average utility player with average defense. I'd rather have Cordell who actually has the toolset to become a starter with his defense and pop. And Cordell is MLB ready. It's hard to hate a trade of a reliever having a career year with 2 months of control left for a guy you can almost (almost because of injury) plug into your lineup.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 08:56 AM) Bringing him up sometime would start his clock would it not? IF we are not planning to compete til 2020 what is the point of bringing him up sometime next year? Yeah I'd rather hold off. Especially since he's so young still.
  20. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 08:40 AM) If he gets to Birmingham in a few weeks, he would definitely be on track for (at least) a cup of coffee in the bigs a year from now, and I would say it is the most likely outcome. It would actually be a disappointment if he didn't, because it would mean something went wrong or he got hurt. I don't really agree with any of this.
  21. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 08:31 AM) If we hypothetically tied, who would get the #1 overall pick? Phillies. It goes by the order from previous draft.
  22. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 07:52 AM) Yep, nothing wrong with having another Fox. Besides the name, I do like Fox as a SS prospect. When I read up on Fox, Dee Gordon came to mind. Not referring to you, but for those who don't know, Lucius Fox is Morgan Freeman's character from the Dark Knight trilogy.
  23. On Buehrle day, for one of the first career homers hit that day, one of them landed in the same row my cousin was sitting in. The ushers came and got the guy with the ball and walked away, probably to make a trade for the ball.
  24. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 07:42 AM) Can we make sure Lucius Fox is part of the package coming back to the Sox? I love that name so yes.
  25. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 03:26 AM) Leaving for the Vegas bachelor party on Saturday! We rented a cabana for Monday, so we are mostly looking forward to that. Did the same when I was there for a bachelor party. Lot's of fun. Plenty of girls around to talk to.
