  1. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 02:26 PM) It doesn't matter because they can't sign him I was going to say, they are still stuck not being able to sign anyone over $300k next signing period.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 02:24 PM) The Dodgers have like 8 guys who are projected to up 2+ WAR/160 IP. They won't be interested in Quintana. We'll see. I don't think they will either but their fans can enjoy getting bounced from the playoffs by the Cubs again in October.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 02:09 PM) Why is this Cody Asche on our team? Give Davidson all the at bats or anybody else. Leury Garcia is annoyingly bad as well Well, they both will continue to get at bats on a regular basis while one emerges over the other (one game sample size for each so far is nothing). Ideally, they would both be in the lineup every day because a Frazier or Melky trade happened. Heck, even both.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 01:21 PM) If he fancies himself a 2 way player, the NL is far more attractive, but money will talk. It will probably be mostly endorsement potential. Yeah. And couldn't he potentially sign a bigger bonus than what he is making over there now? I admit, I post that thought without knowing anything about his salary.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 01:03 PM) Kind of weird he would be good enough to be a DH when he wasn't pitching, but have a DH hit for him if he was. I think he would rather go to the NL myself if he plans on playing both. I kinda get it. That way, when he is taken out, you don't need to lose the DH spot. Kinda like what you said above. You can make the argument last season for that instance with Bumgarner last year actually. Batted in a game he started but wasn't the DH in any other inter-league game with a DH. What sense does that make?
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 12:57 PM) Don't know. I don't think a team would want to give up their DH to have him pitch and hit in the AL. He makes it 4 or 5 innings, you have a problem. I think he ends up in NY, LA, or Seattle. He didn't mean to have him pitch and hit in the same game I believe. Edit: double-checking the post above, it isn't what he meant. But I do agree a bit. I don't think he will come over and do both (unless he is in the NL as an occasional pinch-hitter/DH in inter-league games where a team doesn't have a primary DH).
  7. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 12:54 PM) Isn't he wanting to hit and pitch? AL is the best way to do that for him. He can DH for 3 games, take one off then pitch Yeah that seems like that would make sense.
  8. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 12:54 PM) WS winner with Lackey and Arrietta's salaries coming off the books after this season, makes too much sense. Everyone seems to be ignoring that there will be restrictions on him coming over as he will be an amateur free agent.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 12:52 PM) If he is coming next year, the most it could cost is their entire bonus pool. Aren't they even more restricted next year or is this year the second of the two year penalty? Either way, they would be capped and can't go over what some other teams are allotted to spend.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 12:49 PM) I will be stunned if it's not with the Cubs I would be stunned considering they aren't allowed to sign anyone over $300k lol
  11. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 12:44 PM) Don't see the Sox getting involved in spending what it would take to get Ohtani Robert seems to be their primary target It's capped next signing period so the spending can't go crazy like before. New rules.
  12. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 12:33 PM) Ohtani has told 60 Minutes that will sign with a MLB after this season So if we don't end up signing Robert, this wouldn't be a terrible alternative imo.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 10:39 AM) What would you say the odds are on them hooking up? I'm going to say 3:1. I'm going 75% chance.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 10:50 AM) And the Giants. Although I think Melancon should be OK. They're paying so much for Melancon and seem to be a team that is close and doesn't want to go over the luxury tax threshold so I can't really see them being a serious candidate personally.
  15. Anyone know anybody looking for an entry-levl type finance job in the city located in the loop? I'm trying to scoop up a referral bonus lol message me for details.
  16. QUOTE (Yoda @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 10:17 AM) I think we can all agree we're interested in seeing the outcome of Date #3. There's currently 11 Guests just reading this topic... LMAO
  17. Nice win. Hopefully we only get about 59 more of these threads lol
  18. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 09:20 AM) Yeah, this is a real knowledge drop. Good post. If you want to get it in, you should just tell her such and not be use her for a big girl experience. Especially if he's saying they could be friends if he doesn't want to date her.
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 06:39 AM) If you're going to be critical of her size on a regular basis instead of accepting her, then you shouldn't even bother dating her, let alone attempt a sexual relationship with her. I agree. She might think it's going somewhere so if he keeps leading her on, has sex, and then says he just wants be friends, she probably won't want to be friends.
  20. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 08:49 AM) I am going tonight. Hope it isn't too cold once the sun goes down. Yeah I normally avoid night games until around mid-May. Having a regular Mon-Fri job, the Saturday afternoon games are the best for me.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 08:20 PM) Nationals bullpen meltdown #1 Them and Rangers....2 teams to follow.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 04:46 PM) Am I the only one that constantly confuses flavum and fathom? Lol. You're not alone lol
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 04:42 PM) It was warmer than expected. It was less windy than expected. It worked out ok. Now I want to see Quintana pitch well on Sunday. Exactly why you don't send a team away 2 days before the day of the game.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 03:48 PM) I'm also somewhat getting the opinion this Tigers team...may not be very good. Seriously. Why was that guy pitching the second game of the season for them? Where is the ROY from last year or the other guy they're paying a bunch of money too (Zimmermann)?
