  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 09:33 PM) If it was a 70 win team with young potential in the minors (like the 2014 Cubs), I'd absolutely watch that and be confident that the team had a chance to improve in the future. Watching the Sox these days, that just isn't the case. Besides Anderson, the rest of the farm system has been very disappointing this year; and even Anderson isn't a sure thing. The Sox are in a tough position in the sense that they have legit talent at the MLB level (albeit, not enough to be an elite team), but have very little talent in the lower levels. If the big league sucks (like they have lately), then the organization is f***ed from top to bottom. It sucks, but it didn't have to be like this. Jerry/Kenny/Hahn created this disaster and now they have to deal with the consequences of a very poor team and an angry fanbase. Do they even have enough legit talent to be considered a "good team?"
  2. Let's go a hybrid route. Go all in trading prospects, signing a free agent or two in the off season. Make a real final run. If it still looks bleak a year from now, start trading Sale, Quintana, Eaton, hopefully a better Abreu, Frazier, Lawrie, Robertson, Melky, and other potential pieces brought in during the span and get a bunch of young talent back mid 17 through the off-season.
  3. It's a strategy to help build your team for success. Not everyone can dump hundreds of millions of dollars on free agents every year.
  4. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 09:22 PM) Who cares? The Front Office's are throwing the games and it makes the league(whichever one) look like a joke. When you can start writing off teams in the offseason and who obviously have zero desire to win there's a problem. How do you punish a team? Are they supposed to spend a certain amount of money? What if a team has a strategy of trying to play their own young home grown talent thinning they can win with it? If the owner feels they can win with young players, I don't think they go in with the mindset of trying to lose in this scenario, yet they should be punished?
  5. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 09:21 PM) You don't give away a pitcher of Sale's caliber for a bunch of maybes. I know that but I'm just saying I doubt the Red Sox would do it because as you said "stud for 15 years." Plus, Price aside, they don't really do longterm deals to pitchers. They'd be more likely to extend Bogaerts to a long term deal than Sale after his contract is up.
  6. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 09:19 PM) The lottery system for picks is somewhat a decent way to do it. I do agree with that. First ten picks should be lottery style.
  7. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 09:18 PM) The owner wont though. Honestly I hate tanking in any sport. I think there should be punishments/countermeasures for what some of these teams try to do. It's not like players on teams in those situations are intentionally throwing games. They are playing for their career.
  8. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 09:10 PM) I would demand Bogaerts as part of a deal for Sale. That guy is going to be a stud for another 15 years. Which is why the Red Sox would likely hesitate to do it and then not do it.
  9. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 08:26 PM) What is the point of your post? I'm calling out this fool Why just him? A lot of people were good with this move. Because you were maybe right about one move, you're a better talent evaluator? Quick sign this guy up White Sox!
  10. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 08:21 PM) Not my fault you are horrible at evaluating talent. The truth sucks doesn't it? What is the point of this? Immature and stupid.
  11. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 08:21 PM) His role is long relief It was Gonzalez role but he has to start tomorrow now.
  12. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 07:52 PM) So what do you think sale to Boston with Betts, swihart, Bradley coming back Doubt Boston would do it.
  13. Hawk is at home watching this game getting hammered.
  14. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 07:19 PM) Well this isn't an ideal start... Nope.
  15. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 06:57 PM) A good start by Shields would be a cool breeze. Just threw a pretty damn good 2 seamer.
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 11:05 AM) Jose Abreu. Eh I understood what he meant. The amateur spending.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) The last straw for what? You making 100 posts a day on a White Sox board? That said, I hope they don't trade Tim Anderson, and highly doubt that they will. I'm pretty sure he doesn't post this much when things are going well like April.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 04:19 PM) Not really. Outside of Rollins, no one else the team was really relevant in 2010 in the bigs...maybe Melky. Also just so happened to be Melky's worst year of his career. Maybe Austin Jackson. Mat Latos was relevant at that time.
  19. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 02:35 PM) Will there be a separate thread for the draft when it is live on Thursday with the first post being updated for each selection? I will be busy around the time the draft starts and would like to follow along during the end of my work day/commute on the train. Bump
  20. Honestly ok with the Sox going all in over next few months (in the off-season even to try next year). As long as the fallback plan was to rebuild if things look bad starting by trading guys like Eaton, Sale, Quintana, Robertson, whoever else we may acquire and half season rentals of Frazier and Lawrie to restock the farm.
  21. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 07:42 PM) FWIW Shuck is probably looking to draw a walk every time he's up to bat Must have taken a page out of Alex Avila's playbook.
  22. If we only get one run out of all of this...
