  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 27, 2016 -> 11:49 AM) Who? Cubs reliever dfa'd. He throws hard and has a nasty slider if I recall.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 26, 2016 -> 08:28 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/rosen...526-column.html Rosenbloom counsels waiting it out...desperate times don't call for desperate measures, as Sox will severely overpay unless they just take on a contract another team is dumping. Even then, Rios/Peavy show the danger of that. In hindsight, in terms of players we gave up and salary commitment we took on, neither deal hurt us or prevented us from making more moves.
  3. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ May 26, 2016 -> 02:54 PM) I would definitely target Rasmus. Wouldn't the Astros lose a comp pick if they traded Rasmus? If so, they may want a Top 100 prospect in return, and I'm not sure if the Sox would be willing to deliver that. I'm sure that the Sox aren't the only team that'd be interested in Rasmus. Yeah they would want fair compensation for losing possible draft pick compensation and the alotted slot value.
  4. QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 26, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) Can we skip Gonzalez then? They could. I would so Sale isn't pushed out of this series.
  5. QUOTE (Tex @ May 26, 2016 -> 10:38 AM) But wins don't matter in evaluating a pitcher Come'on give us a no decision from the starter! To be fair they have won a couple games Gonzalez pitched. I don't care if the guy gets a no-decision as long as the team gets a W.
  6. QUOTE (Deadpool @ May 25, 2016 -> 07:59 PM) The worry is when you look at a team like Houston, which has failed to turn the "bottom up" method into sustained success. The Cubs have had a ridiculous amount of success with their front office moves. Bryant, Russell, and Rizzo are all guys they didn't draft. I get your frustration. I want a new story, too. I'm tired of years of bad, too. Huh?
  7. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 25, 2016 -> 03:00 PM) Wait, isn't that the lineup we used yesterday? Yes...
  8. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ May 25, 2016 -> 06:45 AM) Avi is quickly burning through his last few chances to remain on the 25 man roster. That's too bad but realistically, the Sox have known that they would need a Left Hand bat, preferably one that could at least platoon at DH. I am more concerned with Alex Avila's struggles because DH is easier to replace than catcher. . Navarro isn't much better but in a clutch situation, I'd rather have Navarro up instead of Avila. Ventura keeps sending Avila out there thinking he will turn it around. Maybe he is right. In any case, those two spots in the batting order ( catcher and DH) present a similar problem to the one we had last year with Flowers and El Roach . Tonight's game might get rained out. If it does, we lost 2/3, and if it doesn't and we lose 3/4, how many series will that we make that we have lost since we started tanking? It's been painful watching the team struggle like this. I only hope they turn it around, because 4th place is well within sight now. Ventura doesn't send him out there because he thinks he will turn it around. He's out there strictly to handle the pitching staff.
  9. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 24, 2016 -> 09:28 PM) Such a long career. With his sample size, I feel like you can barely call it a career haha
  10. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ May 24, 2016 -> 09:15 PM) Trust me, I've done the same. If he has these kinds of starts for a month, we can worry. But just one, not at all. He's still the clear frontrunner at this point. That and it's only May. Shouldn't really even be talking Cy Young this early.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 24, 2016 -> 08:53 PM) @ckamka Dallas Keuchel had a 9-run start during 2015 Cy Young season. Clayton Kershaw had a 7-run start during 2014 Cy Young season. It happens. And just as we told you earlier, calm down. It's one start and likely not affecting his Cy Young chance.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 24, 2016 -> 08:27 PM) Significantly hampered his Cy Young chances today too. f*** f*** f*** f*** 1 bad game in May is hampering jack s***. Be more concerned about the state of the team than one award.
  13. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ May 24, 2016 -> 08:21 PM) Avila should be benched for that. He will be benched tomorrow due to day game.
  14. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 24, 2016 -> 08:00 PM) He messed up a bit si let's just trade him Huh? He didn't say to trade him.
  15. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ May 24, 2016 -> 07:58 PM) Melky needs to be the DH. Need a LF I've suggested that many a time on here and everyone responded no due to not wanting to change a thing about him.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 24, 2016 -> 07:57 PM) That was great for Jackson to even be there. He played it perfect. Melky was like 10 feet away, didn't get there, and then dropped the ball. Yeah that was a long run for Jackson.
  17. Think 2 were going to score anyway. With 2 outs the runners are off.
  18. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 24, 2016 -> 07:42 PM) Avila's only offense is the BB, cant believe they aren't just pumping him balls in the zone. I would. Dude's plan is to up there and not swing lol
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 24, 2016 -> 07:00 PM) Can't compare Saladino and Rollins numbers offensively for the year, Saladino has had a small sample size and has produced a lot better ABs. I don't know why you love Rollins and his awesome .230 average and .179 AVG, .228 OBP, and .483 OPS against RHP. Sure looks like a guy who should be starting against RHP right now. Look at the stats please. And don't give me the bulls*** that Saladino's numbers weren't good last year as a ROOKIE. Oh and just for comparison: Tyler's Stats against RHP last year: .230 avg, .259 OBP, .585 OPS Saladino isn't the answer at SS but he is the best option currently against RHP. Let's go with a strange platoon of Saladino against righties and Rollins against lefties.
  20. QUOTE (Deadpool @ May 24, 2016 -> 06:25 PM) Probably 20, but again, who knows. He could win 17 and it wouldn't be his fault. Pitching wins are meaningless. Exactly. He could end up with 17 wins but maybe we still win some of his other starts regardless if he gets the win or not.
  21. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ May 24, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) Yes, but the Sox don't have a lesser player in their system who is good enough to make a deal for Beltran worth it to the Yankees. The Yankees are a competitive team and aren't hurting for money, so what incentive do they have to trade him? Realistically, the Sox are going to have to make deals for players with big contracts on bad teams that are looking to move salary off the books. That would include guys like Bruce, Markakis, Shields, Ervin Santana, etc. Ethier depending on when he comes back (I post this without knowing how the Dodgers outfield is doing).
  22. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 24, 2016 -> 01:59 PM) I don't particularly like Leury, but he makes sense as a bench option right now. I agree. He at least gives you speed and position flexibility.
  23. QUOTE (Dunt @ May 24, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) If they are going to bring up an OFer, bring up Coats. See what some of these other guys have at this point. Sands, Shuck, Sanchez, Garcia, etc. are known quantities. If they call him up, I'd want him starting.
  24. I know it is thin, but is it really a problem? It features guys who most argue to be in the lineup a lot of the time (Saladino over Rollins, Sands over Garcia, people wanted Sanchez in the lineup when he was here).
