  1. Still in it in my $200 entry league.
  2. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Sep 12, 2016 -> 11:47 PM) I have a hard time feeling sorry for athletes who are making millions of dollars while I slave at work, but if I was in Sale's shoes I know this franchise's futility would be eating me alive. I really hope he will be able to put some championship rings on his fingers whether if it is with the Sox or not. Yeah they play a game for a living. Way too hard to feel bad for abyone athlete. Its kind of just a term thrown around when something negative happens to said person (blown save, no playoff appearances, offense doesn't score enough).
  3. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 09:53 PM) I thought September trades were legal but players traded cannot be on playoff rosters. Didn't this happen last year with Tampa and another non-playoff team? Obviously the Red Sox wouldn't do it, but can't it happen? It can but Sale wouldn't get past Minnesota so it's a moot point.
  4. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 06:26 PM) http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/09/11/lev...with-white-sox/ The Red Sox sent executive Frank Wren to watch White Sox left-hander Chris Sale pitch against the Royals on Sunday That seems pretty serious. Hold onto your butts.
  5. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 01:54 PM) I can almost guarantee they won't be spending on a QO free agent. At least I hope not. It would be very short-sighted. They are in no position to give away 1st round draft picks That's not what I said. I'm not disagreeing with that point. We don't know that they are going to rebuild yet is what I was saying.
  6. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 11:19 AM) I doubt the Sox will be forfeiting a 1st round pick to sign anyone let alone Fowler or Desmond. They are selling. We don't know that 100% yet.
  7. QUOTE (Dunt @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 08:47 AM) B/c Seager is a legitimate MVP candidate and infinitely more valuable And controlled for what, 6 more years while Sale is 3 and Quintana 4m
  8. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/09/heym...l-saunders.html The comments here about Quintana are f***ing hilarious. One person says the Dodgers would never give up a package of Urias, Thompson and Grandal for Quintana because "he's not worth it" lmao
  9. Heyman reports that Frazier was claimed by a team last month while Melky cleared. Stuff we basically figured but now confirmed.
  10. It's also possible you only see one monster package now and another one next year after teams draft and make other possible moves that adds prospect depth. So yes, in some instances it makes sense to trade Sale for the huge haul and then trade Quintana a year or two later if you don't get 2 massive offers this offseason.
  11. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 11:26 PM) Finally got to watch a Sox game today in which Narvaez was catching, and he seems to be solid defensively, at least much better than Navarro was, which I realize is easy to do. He stole a few pitches for Q today and seemed to have some idea for pitch framing. Also, the dude is walking in like 18% of his PA so far, which is nuts. He's a very solid catcher. Off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure his BB% was high and K% was low in the minors. Would have no problem with him being the starter depending on what we do with the rest of the holes.
  12. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 02:50 PM) More trouble than it's worth? Lol
  13. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 01:26 PM) If this game meant anything at all, this would be a useless afternoon at work. The only time I ever listen/watch them is at work. For some reason, they aren't blacked out on mlbtv.
  14. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 07:18 PM) I'm gonna be so pissed if a Sale or Q trade is centered around Jackie freakin Bradley Me too.
  15. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 07:05 PM) I was hoping they'd give it one more crack before starting the rebuild but I guess everyone here gets what they want now. Should see a surge in attendance the next few years since this is what everyone wants to see. Yippee another 5 years of sub .500 baseball I was hoping they'd try one more time and if it failed, start selling next July. Oh well. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 07:15 PM) I agree
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 06:44 PM) I was just at a season ticket holder q& a with RH. They are going to be rebuilding boys Could be a reason Fulmer and Burdick are taking the rest of the season off. They came out and said they are or is it just your own opinion based on whatever it is they said?
  17. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 03:01 PM) I did not agree with signing Rollins, Latos, and Avila/Navarro this past offseason. Would have much preferred signing Desmond and Fowler to 3 year deals and someone like Fister to a 1 or 2 year deal while sticking with Flowers for another year once Wieters accepted the QO. I would still give Fowler a 3 year contract this offseason but it's even harder now because they likely won't have a protected 1st pick or a comp pick for losing shark. I think that's where the front office blew it by not truly going all in last offseason. I'd still like to see them go for it this offseason by signing the before mentioned vets that have shown the ability to succeed in the AL and are still producing this year at a much higher level than our current options at C, CF, #5 SP, etc. Still have to be strategic in these signings can't just willy nilly sign whoever is left at the end of the offseason. But again this is tied to payroll constraints so JR needs to open the checkbook a bit wider than he did last offseason if wants the "all in" approach. Man if we signed two free agents with QOs attached, we wouldn't have Burdi or Hansen. That would suck.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 10:21 AM) Which, of course, seriously dents the value of the signing. Reddick is a good RF. Maybe move one of them to left and acquire a CF making Melky the DH? I really want them to bring back Morneau though.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) Which is why they should go after Reddick instead. I can get on board with Reddick. I think he will end up signing for less than a 5/$90-100 that I saw predicted for him a few months ago. This of course pushes Eaton to CF.
  20. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 5, 2016 -> 09:19 PM) Around the trade deadline, it seemed like we were gonna sell. But now, with these "JR wants to win NOW!!" stories, I don't know what we're going to do. I think selling is more prudent, especially with the bleak FA market. I also envision some sort of weird buy/sell thing where we trade one of Sale/Quintana and get some package like Bradley/Benintendi/Kopech and try to win now, but then we'd just have a bad rotation. Anyway, here's what I want to happen: Chicago trades Sale, Robertson to Boston for Moncada, Benintendi, Kopech, Groome Chicago trades Quintana to Los Angeles (NL) for Urias, De Leon, Verdugo Chicago trades Cabrera, one of Abreu/Frazier (as a 1B) to Texas for Guzman, Taveras Here's what I think (and fear) will happen: Either: A: Nothing or: B: Chicago signs Edwin Encarnacion to 4-year, $110 million contract Chicago signs Kenley Jansen to 4-year, $52 million contract Chicago thinks they're contenders but finishes with anywhere between 75-85 wins Biggest contract they've given out is Abreu's 6/ $68 mill. Consider that. I think they sign guys without giving up a draft pick and for not a ton of money and I think they also don't trade any of the big prospects/young controllable players.
  21. It's fine having him go over 100. I'm so glad a lot of people on here aren't the manager.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2016 -> 12:59 PM) Great post. Being cramped at all times is no fun for the average fan. The food being amazing and the fact the games are so poorly attended has its advantages. You can spread out and enjoy the experience more. If I had a seat where I couldn't see the ball in the air I'd leave. It would be just just awful. As far as fans taking videos .. WTF with that? Every highlight is on TV or mlb.com. Why do your own video? To brag you were at the game? Nobody wants to see that. Ah the 10,000 dollar question. A lot of people b**** about their team. Just like the fan in Major League. The Randy Quaid character. If your teams sucks and you are a fan, you don't stop watching but many do start b****ing. This isn't just at Cubs games...This is literally EVERYWHERE in today' society. As a 25 year old I hate going out with people taking pics and videos and just sitting on their phone. Live in the moment.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Sep 4, 2016 -> 10:19 PM) Am I crazy, or has he been killing it since he saw his son in Miami? Maybe there's no correlation, but he was ice cold before and has been raking ever since. No you're not crazy as this has been pointed out basically every day since he saw his son. Pretty crazy turn around.

    QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 4, 2016 -> 11:19 PM) What's your point? I'm not sure there was one.
  25. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 01:31 PM) Judging by the attendance, most people don't like this. I know. I don't enjoy this. I'm just saying that there are good seasons regardless if you don't win it all. By that logic, 29 teams a year don't have good seasons. If the Cubs get swept in the first round, their season was not exciting then. By your logic anyway. I want to watch competitve baseball all season. Watch meaningful games in August and September. World Series win is even better.
