  1. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 10:16 PM) Most of these scenarios have the appeal of projectile vomit during a one night stand. But they are totally realistic scenarios! The likes of signing Gomez and/or Castro, taking on a contract and giving up almost nothing for Ethier, dealing lower level prospects hoping Norris bounces back. All these guys will be linked to the Sox by reports due to the holes on the roster and I think it'll be legitimate interest.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan85 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 11:21 PM) Well, congrats on your accomplishments (graduating and getting a job). I am sure that plays a role, but in no way, shape, or form does it take away the fact that the White Sox organization is a huge pile of horse dung and has taken a toll on a lot of fans Thanks! And I added to my last post about my free time outside of work being too valuable to waste watching this mess lol
  3. QUOTE (soxfan85 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 11:17 PM) You got that right, we absolutely have nothing to talk about For the first time in my life, I have COMPLETELY had it with the White Sox organization. I fall for their crap every offseason, and I am disappointed in their performance during the season. The constant basement bargain hunting, the horrible trades, the crappy offense, the horrible bullpen, big mouth Cooper, no personality Ventura, Kenny the one hit wonder...it has just gotten old. Thank you for 2005, but get the hell out of here. Me too. This has become the most uninterested I've ever been in our team. It may coincide with the fact I graduated college in the winter and have been working my first real jobs since and all those other kind of big life changes however. I still check our score before I go to bed or look in the morning but I really don't dedicate my valuable free time to watching them.
  4. QUOTE (soxfan85 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) Yeah, it is annoying. But, the White Sox are horrible. Their whole organization is a complete s$#t show top to bottom. A lot of my White Sox friend, me included, just find the Cubs more interesting. The White Sox are very boring, and with our FO continually making the same mistakes and "talking" like a broken record, the White Sox are far from enjoyable entertainment. The Cubs on the other hand, are enjoyable to watch. 11 years ago Kenny and the rest of those clowns caught lightning in a bottle. No I'm kind of there with you. I'm talking about The Sox fans that try to talk s*** about the Cubs even though we don't really have anything right now to talk about. I'm jealous that they're set up nicely for like the next decade to at least be fun and competitive to watch. Even if this doesn't lead to a World Series (obviously not a guarantee) they will be interesting to watch by their fans and fans of baseball in general. Their fans should be excited and it's hilarious when people on here try to dump on them for it.
  5. It is kind of annoying that it seems like a lot of Sox fans care more about how the Cubs are doing than the Sox are doing. I see it first hand everywhere. It's embarassing. Saying we won a world series in 05 is so cringe worthy. f***ing 11 years ago. I get it. The Cubs haven't won in a long time but what does that have to do with the state of each team now?
  6. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) Yet Cooper gets a free pass from the fan base. Agreed. He can go too. Almost every team turns some players careers around.
  7. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 12:33 PM) Right, just wondering how the rule worked. Thanks. No problem.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 09:52 AM) http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/so-you-want...e-carlos-gomez/ This guys is definitely going to be our CF next year. Hell he might be out CF next week. I believe we are 6th in the pecking order.
  9. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 02:45 AM) I realize the chances are incredibly small, but someone humor me.... IF Morneau somehow went on a crazy tear and ended the year hitting like .325 with 15 HR or something, can the Sox offered him a QO? I know a player switching teams mid-season can't get offered a QO, but what about a player SIGNED mid-season? No they can't offer him one. Had to be here from day one. And if they could I don't see a team signing him with a draft pick attached nor Morneau rejecting a 1 year/17 mill offer. And there have been examples of guys who have waited til mid-season to sign so they didn't have a chance of being offered a QO.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 07:37 AM) he wasnt waived, he was placed on waivers. If a player is placed on waivers(which most are), that doesnt mean the team doesnt want the player Exactly. He's not going anywhere.
  11. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 11:06 PM) Is it true that he was waived and claimed (but Sox pulled him back)? Probably. And it's a common thing. I predicted a team like the Yankees with a lot of money off the books would place a claim for the off chance the White Sox just let his salary go (like the Rios situation).
  12. I kinda feel like they'll take on Ethier as a salary dump not giving up much. It's worth mentioning they will be able to play with a lot of freed up money this offseason from Danks and LaRoche (LaRoche retired to late to be able to do much with it).
  13. Anyway we can deal Robertson and then spread the money owed to him over a few mid relievers in the offseason? And trying Burdi out in the closer spot with Jones as a fallback if they decide not to use him as a starter in the minors?
  14. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 05:18 PM) Sox won't sign him because Boston has a huge hole at DH with Ortiz retiring. He's their #1 target. Really depends on what they do with Sandoval and Hanley. As of now, I believe they would be sharing the 1B/DH spots with Shaw holding down third until someone else comes up. Unless they add someone from outside the organization for 3B.
  15. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) I think if you are going to tear it down, Morneau is exactly the kind of player you want to keep around. Great hitter, great character, great clubhouse personality, and very respected pro. Just the kind of guy you want around a bunch of young guys coming up and learning to adjust to life in the MLB. Exactly. He fits on the roster whichever direction they decide to go. Except if you're trying to compete, try to bring in another big bat along with keeping him.
  16. What are we trading for Brian McCann? I feel like the Yankees aren't going to try to move him as I see them going all in as well. He's going to move into a 1B/DH/3rd catcher role. Edit: the fact he's been put on waivers means nothing. More of a "hey maybe a team will have an injury and be desperate and overpay for a catcher" type of situation.
  17. I'm guessing they sign Jason Castro to a 1 year cheap deal and/or trade spare parts in a deal for Derek Norris (might cost a bit more since there aren't a lot of catchers). Always wanted to see what he could do in an MLB ballpark. I think they also sign Carlos Gomez to a one year cheap deal.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 09:52 AM) If you want a total rebuild, I have no idea why bringing Morneau back would even be something you would consider. On the other hand, if you think the White Sox should continue to try to win, bringing him back makes a lot of sense. You can bring him back and try to flip him to a team that needs a left handed bat? Cubs did that that s*** for 3-4 years. And because there is no one else to give the at bats to really (MAYBE Davidson?).
  19. Competing or rebuilding: bring him back. Trying to compete, you can use his bat at DH. Trying to rebuild, you can try to flip him in July and if he sucks, probably doesn't cost much anyway.
  20. Turned game on. Saw the 2 run hit. Turned game off.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 06:50 PM) Don't they have an option on him next year? They don't with Navarro. And since they're unlikely to bid on Ramos against the field, we'll probably end up with him or Suzuki...unless we can pry a SD catcher away (Norris). Nah Jason Castro.
  22. Personally, I don't see the point of him coming up this season. I would prefer if he went into the offseason conditioning as a starter and working as a starter in the minors to start the season.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) Evan Grant ‏@Evan_P_Grant 46m46 minutes ago So of Fielder's $24 million, Rangers will get $6 million from Tigers; $9 million from insurance. Still responsible for $9 million That works out perfect for the Rangers. And ideally Prince Fielder lol
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) With everyone they are missing, they don't really have a choice right now. Still might go with Shuck in center lol
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) I was so pissed when that trade happened, knowing that the Rangers did Detroit a huge, huge favor. In the end, it didn't matter because the White Sox still suck, but what the hell Texas. Technically it's not a retirement, he is being declared physically disabled because the doctors won't clear him to play. He will still get paid his whole contract. I don't think they have to pay the whole contract. There might be insurance on it. And they still get money went to them by the Tigers regardless if they do or not. Similar to how the Shields situation works if someone takes him.
