Sox @ Tigers GAMETHREAD
QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 07:10 PM) Except for people at the beginning of the year who hated the Rollins signing right off the bat, and wanted Mr. 633 OPS as our starting SS. I believe more for defense than anything.

Reasonable Waiver Trade Cadidates
QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) If Sox don't believe that Fulmer is ready to join the rotation next season, they should keep Shields for another year and hope for the best. If not, there's no reason for Shields to be on the roster. Agreed. And I don't think he's ready. So keep the rotation intact unless you decide to rebuild. Or trade Shields or Gonzalez and sign another 5th starter.

Sox @ Tigers GAMETHREAD
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 06:46 PM) Nice contact for the base hit. Good to see Miggy congratulate him. He really matured well. I don't think anyone has more fun playing the game than Miggy.

Reasonable Waiver Trade Cadidates
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 04:16 PM) Problem is, no one besides Shields is going to clear waivers on this team. Yeah he's the only one I'd expect.

Reasonable Waiver Trade Cadidates
QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) The Sox would have to send cash to a trading partner for Shields. I don't see that happening. If it's money coming from the Padres, I don't think it matters.

Reasonable Waiver Trade Cadidates
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 02:41 PM) Melky and Robertson dont have a chance to clear waivers. But they should make it to a contender you could maybe work something out with. Would be wise to monitor injuries and perhaps delay putting them through. Shields will 200% clear. Hes the only chip here. Doesn't make a difference when you put them on. Once they're cleared, you can negotiate with anyone. And if you can always take guys back and put them back through if they're claimed anyway.

It's that time of year again...2016 edition
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) Do you think it makes a difference to win 76 games and miss the playoffs, or win 70 games and miss the playoffs? This. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) The higher the draft pick the larger the bonus pool, that's reason enough for me, having more money to spend is HUGELY important. And this.

Puig is getting moved
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 12:18 PM) I thought he had options? He does. It's also possible they put him on waivers hoping someone claims him giving the Dodgers the option to just let his contract go to the claiming team.

Red Sox Reportedly Interested in Robertson
QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 12:35 PM) Waiver Trades ESPN Insider....No earth shattering revelations here, jist of it, Olney thinks Robertson could be traded in August to a contender with Sox potentially eating some of the remaining $. I don't see him clearing waivers. A team like the Yankees and Red Sox would definitely claim in hopes of Sox letting him go. In otherwords, Robertson isn't being moved until the offseason (if at all). Someone like Shields perhaps.

No reason Tilson and Narvaez shouldn't be in the lineup almost everyday the rest of the way.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (daggins @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:13 PM) I'd like to believe the Sox would target recent draftees, but i'd say they're likely to prioritize MLB or near MLB talent. I think it'd be a mix of both. Andrew Benintendi promoted today by the Red Sox.

Why watch / listen / care?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 02:18 AM) Sure you got to love baseball. The alternative? You like the Chicago winters? The KC winters? The wind and the freezing cold? The ice storms? This is way better than fricking winter. (I do realize last winter was mild but still ...). Always manage to bring up KC somehow.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 10:39 PM) In the off season, Groome will be available too. Good point. Now when we discuss potential deals we can discuss recently drafted players as well.

Puig is getting moved
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 10:37 PM) I would. Guy has came back from injury and has been raking since June 21st. I still say the talent is absolutely worth the risk. Yeah over the past 30 games he's hitting .301 with an .800 ops.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 10:24 PM) According to whitesoxdave... FWIW I was told the #WhiteSox turned down a Benintendi, Kopech, Johnson/Ball, and PTBNL package for Quintana from #RedSox Yeah that's light.

Why watch / listen / care?
They also need to play Narvaez every day just to see what they have there.
-
Why watch / listen / care?
I'm still calling the Carlos Gomez signing

Officially Open For Business
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) How do you not guarantee Lucroy the starting catching job? QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) No friggin clue. Apparently they wanted him to catch, play some 1b, and DH. And he wasn't about that QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:14 PM) Indians are f***ing stoopid Pretty sure a report later in the day shot that down actually. Him rejecting the trade was purely about money.

Puig is getting moved
QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:27 PM) Wonder if a Robertson/Puig swap would make sense for both teams? Makes taking the risk with Puig's contract easier, and the Dodgers could use Robertson. No idea if either would clear waivers though. Yeah I don't think so. Yankees and Red Sox would definitely place a claim in for Robertson I would think.

Why watch / listen / care?
QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 07:49 PM) Another August and September of meaningless baseball on the South Side of Chicago. Becoming a reoccurring theme under the Hahn/RV regime unfortunately. I think Sale will get shut down around September 1st. No use putting unnecessary innings on an arm that the Sox are gonna need for the 2017 push! I don't see anyway that this Sox team finishes above 500. Way too many division games in the next two months. Another top ten pick is in the best long term interests of this franchise anyway. No you don't shutdown guys. Have to build the his durability if you want him to be able to pitch in October.

Why watch / listen / care?
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) well, seems like they might try to sign a FA in the offseason, so I hope they get a protected pick! Worth noting that one of the better free agents (Reddick) got traded so no QO can be offered.
-
Puig is getting moved
If we're going to rebuild, buy-low on him. Gotta field a team somehow and hope guys bounceback to be able to trade.
-
Why watch / listen / care?
I look forward to the manager search and seeing what direction this team decides to go in in the offseason.
-
Why watch / listen / care?
1. Rodon's development 2. Anderson's development 3. Tilson- see if he can play ball 4. Sale starts This all I'm really paying attention to the rest of the way. May not go to another game.

Trade Deadline: Sox Make No Moves
I kind of expected a starter like Shields or Gonzalez (really thought Marlins would try to make a quick deal after sending Rea back) and Robertson. Now pick a lane for the offseason and stay in it.
