  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) They still haven't said who won the claim? No but it doesn't really matter if a deal wasn't made.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) Robertson has been so disappointing. Amazing how bad the last two offseasons were. Fire Hahn Agreed. Overall, Robertson has not been worth the money. Edit: maybe last year when he was at his cheapest during his contract with us. It escalates by a million every year.
  3. Jesus f***ing christ. Bullpen coming into blow it is like clockwork.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) If the reports about the Sox not sending a scout are true, good for them. What a complete waste of time. They DID send scouts. Only 3 teams didn't.
  5. QUOTE (Scoots @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) I'd take Saladino over Lawrie any day. Next year I would have Lawrie on the bench and Saladino the starting 2b...that's not gonna happen though. Or trade Lawrie.
  6. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 11:01 PM) This organization owes John Danks an apology. Would rather he was still going out there every 5th day the rest of this year than trading for Shields and watching him suck for the remainder of this year and next 2.
  7. I'd take him for sure. I just don't see him going anywhere until the offseason.
  8. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 01:47 AM) He's really no where near the Cy Young award, but he is doing really well for some reason. Him and Arrieta are running super low BABIPs. In fact, both Lester and Lackey and even Hammel have real low BABIPs too. I wonder if that's a lot of luck on their side, a product of facing weak NL offenses, or just having a really good defense. Or a combination. All 5 Cubs starters are in the top 11 in lowest BABIPs in baseball. 5 of 11! Arrieta (2), Hendricks (6), Hammel, Lackey, Lester (9, 10, 11). I think it's a combination of all of what you said.
  9. QUOTE (Insp @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 06:46 PM) Then why isn't he a starter? More proof of Ventura's unfitness as manager? I think he could be a capable every day middle infielder on a team with a really good offense. Not this current team though.
  10. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 05:07 PM) Couldn't this be said about every team in the league other than the Dodgers? Yes.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 04:43 PM) Robertson for Puig makes a ton of sense I was thinking similar of a one for one of Robertson for McCann. Sox had interest in McCann when he was a free agent, have had a hole at catcher, both have 2 years left on deal.
  12. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 29, 2016 -> 01:41 PM) How does the order work for who has first crack at picking him up off waivers? Is it by current record or last years record or? From what I understand, once a team picks up a player from waivers they have 10 days to work out a deal with that team, if I understand it correctly? That's different. This is trade waivers. Team putting the player on waivers has 48 hours to work out a deal with highest priority claiming team. Or they can let him go or pull him back. The order is reverse standings. AL gets first crack at AL players and NL gets first crack at NL players.
  13. Just read Yankees have been aggressive on the waiver wire. I'd bet any money they'd place a claim on Robertson. Have a lot of money off the books.
  14. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 29, 2016 -> 07:25 AM) What is a stud?? Jones is a very good set-up man. He struggled as the closer but that was really a few years back. I think he is very valuable and a key guy in the pen as we learned last year when he was out. Stud..................that is kinda exaggerating his value. Didn't he only close for like 2 games before getting hurt for the year? Or am I remembering incorrectly.
  15. Going to be interesting to see if we make another move or 2 over next 3 days.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 03:33 PM) It is unlikely Narvaez is a real starter but there's nothing to lose letting him prove what he is. He has looked professional in everything he's done. Hard to believe he hit so poorly on minors. He can be a good backup at least.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) I hope Kevan Smith gets a call up in September. I would like to see himm He will. Every team calls up a third catcher in September it seems.
  18. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) Puig officially placed on trade waivers. Hopefully the Sox put in a claim. I'm sure the Sox will but I doubt he makes it past NL.
  19. QUOTE (Scoots @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 02:05 PM) Potential 2017 bullpen: Putnam, Petricka, Jones, Jennings, Burdi, Robertson, Ynoa? This is a solid pen when healthy, there are a lot of ifs, such as can Burdi succeed in the majors, health, Robertson putting it back together. I'd rather have Ynoa than Albers. I doubt they bring back Albers so we should be fine there. Minor league deal at best for depth. That pen definitely needs another lefty and long reliever though. Could see one of Putnam or Petricka moved.
  20. If Robertson gets moved, I hope to see Burdi called up in September to close.
  21. The White Sox are so thin in the lefty reliever department that anyone bring in is a plus.
  22. QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 10:56 PM) I don't really ever remember Avi being selective.... I believe he's had flashes of being selective but it doesn't last.
  23. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 05:52 PM) I don't think it's an indication of much. They shouldn't start his clock. Robertson should be moved regardless of the plan for 2017 before his save % takes a really big nosedive. Same argument I had for Alexei's rebound year. Not getting any younger and still with enough value to get something in return. Don't wait til they are valueless. I am not for a total rebuild but moving valuable assets to get younger and create more payroll room should be considered for the over or nearing 30 years old assets. If he comes up now or starts in the bullpen on opening day next season, it doesn't effect when he would be arbitration/free agent eligible so his starting his clock doesn't matter.
  24. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 03:51 PM) That may be a clue as to if they are "going for it" in 2017. That's a valid point.
