5 years, 82.5 MM, and a disappointed Cubs fanbase. I hope he hits .400 against the Cubs and terrorizes them. Cardinals have some work to do to compete with that team, and this is definitely a step in the right direction.

I'd be shocked if the Yankees traded what it's gonna take to acquire Quintana. All indications are that they really want those prospects to be part of their core going forward, and frankly that's the way the Yankees should go in my opinion. If, by the deadline they are competing, then they might become buyers to some degree. If I were them, I'd really want to hold onto those top prospects of theirs and see them through.

I fully expect Hahn and company to be "in" on the big time free agents in 2018. How far "in" is open to interpretation, but with the minuscule payroll and the probable need/want to add a huge player to the organization during what should be the end of a rebuild, I can't imagine we won't hear grumblings about the Sox being in on these top players.

Rosenthal was just talking about how valuable Eaton's contract actually is to a team like Washington that doesn't go absolutely nuts with payroll. We've said it all along that good players on contracts like that should net a good haul of prospects, and it rung true in this instance.

The only blowback here is on the Nationals. No other team will decide to tread lightly with the White Sox because they got an excellent return from the Nats. It's on Washington to accept the deal and they did.

This should wrap up the free agent closer market, I highly doubt the Dodgers offer more money than Chapman got from the Yankees for Jansen. I'd be shocked if they did.

Yanks need another lefty in the pen. Maybe they look at Dan Jennings? Everything the insiders are saying is they won't be looking to part with any of their premium prospects, so it's doubtful they pursue Q I guess.

Bought his jersey. He's my kind of baseball player. Gonna miss him for sure.

I think Melky stays with us until the trade deadline. He should be hitting around .280+ at that time and some team will need a contact hitter for the stretch. I doubt you could get anything interesting for him right now.

I know Hahn hasn't slept much the past couple of days, so I'm wondering if the Sox are just gonna call it a winter meetings and get some rest and continue trying to work upon frameworks established this week. I'd be as ecstatic as anyone if we get another midnight blockbuster, though. Maybe they are powering through it and trying to get a deal done tonight.

I think Q, Nate Jones and David Robertson get dealt this offseason for sure. Possibly Frazier as well. All these guys should get acceptable offers. Abreu is going to stay on the team and if he has a great first half, get dealt at the deadline or in June. I don't think the offers we want for Abreu will be there until next season. I say don't slow down. Keep selling. Tank 2 years get a top 5 pick and keep building that farm.

There was no way the Sox would've gotten better value for Eaton than what the Nats gave up. I think you're rushing to judgement here instead of giving the whole thing time to play out. Can you imagine it if the Sox with a minuscule payroll decided to go balls to the wall and sign Bryce Harper? Almost a zero chance of it actually happening, but the payroll commitments will be so small at the time, I really expect the Sox will be in on him to some degree.
