  1. I think that is the main question, and of course we'll never know the answer, which is also true for any other team. Would a different staff be able to keep Eloy-Moncada-Robert on the field more? How big of an impact would Chris Fetter have made on the pitching staff? There is no doubt that there were big issues that would still be true today, whoever the coaching staff was...from a player standpoint and lack of depth in the minor leagues. But I wonder if they make the ALCS or something in 2021, how different does 2022 look like, and so on..
  2. Been thinking about this over the weekend. We all know when they fired Ricky, AJ Hinch seemed to be the favorite. And it absolutely seemed like that was the target for Rick. We know what followed and who was hired. I’m not one to think a manager makes a huge impact, but clearly we see when someone is in way over their head and just not in control of the team/clubhouse. If Tony is never hired, Jerry stays out of things and it’s AJ Hinch running the show in 2021 and beyond…what do we think this team looks like today? I’m not saying AJ Hinch would have just willed them to 40+ more wins, but it seems like Jerry has weirdly had more influence on things as of late. If Hinch is here, do we see a different playoff result in 2021? Are Hahn and Williams still here? Is there a different group of players on the roster?
  3. I agree, but see it slightly differently. I don’t think he enjoys this, but I also don’t think he cares. So in that way, it becomes acceptable. I just see a total lack of interest from the entire organization. Why do even anything remotely more than you have to, other than putting a roster of 26 baseball players together, a coaching staff, and calling it a day. There is no interest in doing anything more than the bare minimum, and it’s sad.
  4. They just lost their 18th straight and are on pace to have the worst winning percentage in the modern era of baseball. Read the room
  5. I’m not even sure what this means? What could have taken place behind closed doors that held anyone accountable?
  6. It doesn't get talked about enough, honestly. They are 27-85, which is incredible to even type...and NO ONE has been fired. Not a hitting coach, not a pitching coach, and certainly not the manager. It's on pace for the worst season of all-time and NO ONE has been held accountable, or a message sent that this isn't acceptable.
  7. I can get on board with this
  8. I truly don't think anyone that is worth anything would take the job. I don't care about the "well there are only 30 jobs out there" argument. These guys aren't total idiots (Pedro may be the exception) and as we will see with Grifol, he'll NEVER get a shot to manage again. Nor should he, but anyone who takes this job is in for a world of hurt the next 2+ years, just like Pedro has gone through...the only candidates you're getting are individuals who only care about the paycheck (and it won't be much) or are totally unqualified for the job (If you Getz what I'm saying)
  9. While this is accurate on July 31st, 2024, I don't believe it will be on July 31st, 2026. They won 101 games last season, won the division and made the playoffs. This season, they are still in 1st place in the AL East, and will almost certainly make the playoffs. At that point, they have matched what the Sox "rebuild" did, and if they win a playoff series, then they already topped it. They also are anchored by two of the best players in the league, which is something the Sox never had. Lastly, when the 2024 MLB Draft took place earlier this month, USA Today and Fan Graphs ranked the O's having the best farm system in baseball. Something the Sox could never boast during their short "window" of contention. They are set up much differently than the Sox were.
  10. THIS is what makes that statement true? Lol
  11. Huh? https://x.com/johndenton555/status/1818034898139234523?s=46&t=Nd9oJCYs4TMp8_32NrPiMA
  12. Here is my one question. When Getz and Co. are in a room, before they met the media, and are going over their talking points..what do they believe this route accomplishes? When they make a pros and cons list, what is it in the “pro” column for these Getz comments? I don’t understand
  13. Eloy and Moncada got hurt, WHY DID YOU EXPECT ANYTHING DIFFERENT?!? ?
  14. I said it a few days ago, a somewhat competent team being aware of their situation would try and front load a contract for Crochet, giving him his money now and having the last 2 years of his 5 year contract backloaded so they would have resources available to compete in 2027-2028. But we know that won't happen.
  15. So we shouldn't base our views off of one season, but your argument is to base them on....two seasons? lol
  16. Who he hired, and continue to let run his franchise well after any other owner would have fired him for lack of performance.
  17. But if you listen to Schffrin, he’ll tell you opposing teams broadcasters say after the series how surprised they are by the White Sox, how competitive they are…?
  18. I know this is all moot because of Jerry, it’s just still maddening they won’t even consider getting creative. They are going to be bad the next few years. Payroll will be low. Sign Crochet for 5 years, contract starts next year. Why not front load it in years 1 and 2, everyone wins, Crochet gets his money, Sox have a 28 year old Crochet when in a perfect world they are ready to compete, and have some added flexibility because he’s on the backend of the deal. This isn’t Fedde, I actually agree with the gregs of the world, I don’t care who you are, they shouldn’t be trying to trade a 25 year old who has been one of the best pitchers in baseball
  19. Lets remove the sexual assault coverup (which is bad enough) He was awful in Chicago as a pure GM. What are they thinking?
  20. They don’t have anything significant to sell…whoops
  21. If Crochet suffers a significant elbow injury in his next start, after throwing more innings in 2024 than he has in 2020,2021,2022 and 2023 combined...you won't believe that sudden influx of innings on his arm, after not throwing anywhere near that amount recently, will have anything to do with it? At @ptatc just pointed out with his running analogy, building up strength and endurance is a real thing. If you don't, your body and muscles are at a higher risk, which doesn't account for the inherited risk there is of any pitcher throwing a baseball with the amount of force needed to get MLB hitters out.
