I like the glass-half-full mindset, but if they hadn’t dumpster dove with Eaton in the first place the loss of Jimenez wouldn’t hurt so much. Doesn’t make much sense to reserve funds for when nobody worthwhile is available.
I’d like to see them trade for Gallo. It will cost something of value, but that can be recouped next off-season by dealing from a surplus once Eloy is presumably healthy. We’ve waited long enough, let’s go for it.
Eloy is an all-star calibre hitter. I agree with others he COULD be even better hitting the ball in the air more often - the caveat being there is no guarantee he couldn’t also become worse in doing so.
I think it’ll be be ok. I don’t think TLR is great, but he isn’t some supervillain either. More important he’s very cognizant of his legacy, and he’s not stupid. He’s not Bobby Valentine.
29.1% of SP’s in MLB in 2019 were lefties. That’s 47 games over a full regular season. Probably somewhere around there.
so 47-0 with those. Just have to go 53-62 against righties and boom 100 wins.
Psychologically probably isn’t the best feeling, but likely hasn’t made much impact on his life with it being the off-season. With Spring Training approaching hopefully he settles in somewhere, because this is where is can get disruptive.
