Getting both Harper and Machado is obviously the dream scenario, but there's probably like a 1% chance of that happening. Give me one and I'll be absolutely ecstatic.

At this point, I think Harper's best option is to sign a front loaded deal with the Sox and then opt out and sign elsewhere in 4-5 years. This way, he would have one of the highest AAV's during his "prime years" and still be able to cash in on the free agent market again at age 30 or 31.

I'm slightly more optimistic than I was earlier today. The odds are still stacked against us in all likelihood but you never know.

It's not like the Sox will compete next season anyway if they were to acquire Andujar, what's the harm in giving him more time to learn the intricacies of playing 3B defensively. Moncada wasn't all that good at 2B in 2017 and the beginning of last year and he improved significantly with the glove, no reason why Andujar couldn't do the same.

How is he not a fit? He'd easily be the best 3rd baseman the Sox have had from an offensive standpoint since Joe Crede, and his defense can improve with time. It would also keep Moncada at 2B which is ideal.

Where does Harper fit on that team? 1B? Not sure he wants to play there.

3B. He's rough defensively at that spot right now but there's no reason why he couldn't improve. I wonder if Rodon + Alonso + one or two other pieces would get it done.

If Machado goes to the Yankees, I really hope the Sox try to get Andujar.

If they insist on him switching positions, I'd much rather have him go to CF. Eloy/Moncada/Robert in the OF and then get a legit 3B either through free agency or a trade. I just don't think Moncada's skillset will be utilized to its full potential at 3B.

I might be in the minority on this, but I do not like the idea of moving Moncada to 3B. At all.

I'd do that for sure. I like Dunning, but the Sox have several other talented arms and 3B is a bigger need right now, assuming the Sox miss out on Machado.

I've always thought the Sox and Reds would make good trade partners. The Reds need pitching. The Sox have plenty of that. The Sox need a quality 3rd baseman. The Reds have several guys that fit that mold. I think there's potential for a deal.

How much money is he getting?

The Sox gotta back up the truck for Harper now.
