  1. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 09:16 PM) The only reason Hahn hasn't been burned by refusing to back off what are surely ridiculous demands is because there are no other options out there. Trust me, if Houston or Pittsburgh could find a good lefty elsewhere they would've done that by now. They know they need to shore up their rotations if they want to seriously compete this year and they need to go after Q unless they are willing to deal with an even more ridiculously stubborn Rays front office. It was fine that Hahn started with a really high ask for Quintana but now its time to back off a little and meet these teams halfway. I dont understand the enthusiasm for waiting. That above dynamic that has bailed Hahn out will be gone soon, I really dont know what else to say to those who refuse to believe that. How long have you guys followed baseball? Have you ever seen a pitching market as barren as this one? It wont last, and if you think it will you are letting stubborness cloud your judgment. I agree. By no means should Hahn trade Q for anything less than he's worth, but I think it's time to stop asking for Meadows, Bell, and Glasnow (just a theoretical example) and meet somewhere in the middle with one of these interested teams. I really don't see any positive coming out of Q staying on this team after Spring Training starts.
  2. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 04:04 PM) Awe hell, let's just skip Martes and make the package Tucker, Reed, Fisher and Stubbs. Doubt Houston would do that but I would. I'd do this if Laureano was included. 5 high upside hitters for Q? I'll take that all day.
  3. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 02:07 PM) If we're going to hate on talented, cocky, young kids then this rebuild is really going to be tough. This. Not sure why some of you guys are hating on him. I don't care if he thinks he's a badass if the results are there. The sky is the limit for him as far as potential goes.
  4. How is Kopech a dbag for throwing hard?
  5. This guy is like Noah Syndergaard on steroids. Good god.
  6. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 16, 2017 -> 03:51 PM) The 2012 draft is frustrating in retrospect because players like giolito, wacha, seager and stroganoff were all selected shortly after Hawkins Stroganoff hahahahaha
  7. QUOTE (OklahomaBrave @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 11:50 PM) Just find it strange Levine and other just keep referencing the nameless "others" involved. Can't imagine who they would Be other than Rockies or Braves. I'm also very ready for something to happen, I've been reading Whitesox stuff way more than is normal for a Braves fan. Are you on any Braves forums that are similar to this one? I'd be curious in knowing what their fans think about these Quintana rumors.
  8. I have a feeling that something will happen soon.
  9. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 08:27 PM) An admittedly crazy thought crossed my mind after reading that several teams may now have upped their offers. If Hahn really likes these supposedly increased Offers, perhaps he might consider dealing Q to one team and Rodon to another. That might really move the timetable for the rebuild forward. We give up half of our remaining rotation, but that could be a major haul of prospects, one like we have never seen before in such a short time period. OK, I know I have really lost my mind now, so back to watching football. I see absolutely no reason to move Rodon right now. They'd be selling low on him. Even a year from now might be a more appropriate time to move him if he has a nice season in 2017. I think 2019 or 2020 is a more likely time to trade him if the Sox are going to do so.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 05:43 PM) That's a .747 OPS. Todd Frazier put up a .766 OPS last year at 3b while being a poor baserunner and fielder. If Saladino puts up those kind of numbers at 3b or 2b, that's a path towards a 4 WAR season unless he only plays 2/3 of the season. If he hits 11 HR in 2/3 of a season that's one impressive power surge for him. Saladino had a .725 OPS with 8 homers, 11 SB's, and a 1.8 WAR last year in just 93 games. I think my prediction is realistic, especially if he plays a full season while being entirely healthy.
  11. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 05:33 PM) Really? What position? I don't know, 3B maybe. It's still possible that Frazier is traded. Lawrie could be gone too.
  12. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 05:19 PM) Only if Tyler is playing AA ball. I'm assuming that he'll be a starter on next years team.
  13. .264/.324/.423 11 HR's, 52 RBI's, 17 SB's, 2.4 WAR
  14. .338/.413/.643 43 HR's and 112 RBI's.
  15. If those couple outings last year crippled Fulmer's development, than he was never going to be anything special anyway.
  16. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 05:30 PM) Don't forget to add the ice, lime and tequila. An alternative to blending ones balls could be to cut them off, pickle them for the 2017 year and then feed those picked nads to the most deserving and undesirable relative you have next Christmas. Another idea would be Chef's favorite, chocolatey salty balls. Simpley wash, shave, chop, baste in chocolate and bake at tree-fiddy for 20 min. Let cool for 10 minutes and serve with secret sauce. For added flavor and texture you can skip washing said balls for that all natural fromunda cheese taste. Good grief, I really need to get a life. Too much time on my hands and am incredibly bored watching the wife play her video game. Maybe I should grab a beer or something and turn on some tunes. I have lots of new music I need to catch up on anyway. OK, back to Quintana, or whatever the f*** this thread is about. I love you so much. I really do. You're one of my favorite people here hands down.
  17. I might as well shove my balls in a blender if he isn't traded by SoxFest.
  18. Assuming he plays a full season... My prediction: .258/.324/.439 with 18 HR's, 8 SB's, 62 RBI's, and a -2.3 DWAR.
  19. QUOTE (New Era on South Side @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 08:07 AM) If Quintana isn't traded by SoxFest, I think all signs point to him being on the Sox roster in 2017. These rumors have dried up and there's nothing new happening. My guess is he will be traded at the deadline, along with Robertson and possibly Cabrera and Frazier for beer and possibly a plate of nachos. The Sox have to get a churro in this deal or it's not enough IMO.
  20. .302/.354/.514 18 HR's, 34 SB's, 5.3 WAR
  21. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 01:33 PM) Did you just compare Josh Bell to Dayan Viciedo? Holy f*** is that a terrible comparison. lol they're completely different players.

  23. Dude reminds me so much of Masahiro Tanaka.
  24. Can we just merge the 2 Quintana threads together to make one giant thread in order to pass the Cespedes thread in length? This thread is ending up the exact same way as the one that was closed a few days ago.
