Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 09:41 AM) Yep. They won't be trading him prior to Soxfest or this weekend. If someone offers them what they want prior to Spring Training though, I think they'd still move him. Why? If anything I think it's the opposite. They probably want to move him before SoxFest in order to make the big announcement there or they won't move him until the deadline.

Keith Law Top 100
Shields will serve his purpose if he's bad enough to allow the Sox to get Beer.

Which player will outperform expectations ?
Alec Hansen. I think he was the steal of the draft and has top of the rotation potential. I think this is the year where he takes a big step forward.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 24, 2017 -> 10:18 AM) I really think if it came to it I'd be content telling Pirates they need to go depth if they're not including Meadows or Bell. Something like Glasnow/Newman/Hayes/Diaz with the possibility of Keller would be a phenomenal deal. Which tells me I'm looking at a deal that wouldn't be offered. The Pirates would sure as hell have to include a lot of depth if Meadows/Bell aren't on the table. Otherwise it isn't worth it for the Sox.

FS: Just a Bit Outside - Prospects who just missed our Top 30
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 24, 2017 -> 09:55 AM) I've heard that a few of mine aren't even in the FutureSox top 45. Here we go: 1. Yoan Moncada 2B 2. Lucas Giolito RHP 3. Michael Kopech RHP 4. Zack Collins C 5. Reynaldo Lopez RHP 6. Alec Hansen RHP 7. Carson Fulmer RHP 8. Luis Alexander Basabe CF 9. Dane Dunning RHP 10. Zack Burdi RHP 11. Spencer Adams RHP 12. Charlie Tilson CF 13. Jordan Stephens RHP 14. Adam Engel OF 15. Jameson Fisher OF 16. Amado Nunez IF 17. Jordan Guerrero LHP 18. Trey Michalczewski 3B 19. Luis Curbelo IF 20. Alex Call OF 21. Micker Adolfo OF 22. Bernardo Flores LHP 23. Brian Clark LHP 24. Jake Peter Utility 25. Matt Davidson 3B 26. Dylan Covey RHP 27. Ian Hamilton RHP 28. Corey Zangari 1B 29. Victor Diaz RHP 30. Blake Hickman RHP I've seen no mention of Willy Garcia anywhere. Kind of surprising. Why is Call so low? He had a nice season last year. I'd rate him higher for sure. Probably in the 10-15 range.

Keith Law Top 100
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) Sox were stuck in a tough spot picking #8 in 2015 Every player picked above them I think they would have drafted over Fulmer: 1) Swanson 2) Bregman 3) Rodgers 4) Tate 5) Tucker 6) Jay 7) Benintendi They did what they felt was the best selection at the time was in Fulmer. At 6' 200 lbs he has less than ideal size for a starting pitcher and likely is best suited to a bullpen role, but he should be given the opportunity to start in AAA this season I wouldn't take Tate or Jay over Fulmer even now.

That's right. Law said Sale was a future reliever too. lol.

Law doesn't think favorably of any White Sox prospect.

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
I'm not sure why the Sox are stuck on Musgrove's inclusion in any Astros deal if the indications are correct. Let Houston keep him and ask for more hitting in exchange.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 10:35 AM) "Jose Quintana traded for Kyle Tucker and some other prospects" sounds like the worst headline I could ever read. What a laughing Stock Hahn would be to the other GMs. Absolute laughing stock. If the "other prospects" are A.J. Reed, Francis Martes, Derek Fisher, and Ramon Laureano, how does that make Hahn a laughing stock?

We've had the same conversations so many times already that I think we've all become delusional. A trade has to happen soon or I fear for the sanity of this forum.

Predict Thy Numbers: Brett Lawrie
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 05:37 PM) If this team hits all of the projections individually you've listed so far - we're going to win the World Series. I like to be optimistic.

Potential MLB free agent adds
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 11:46 AM) If the Sox have the number one pick in 2019 the rebuild is NOT going well. Three of the Sox top three/four prospects they acquired all have ETAs of 2017 in Moncada/Giolito/Lopez. They have three first rounders from the last draft that would all be on a list for the top ten draftees from 2016 to make the MLB. All of these guys with the exception of maybe Dunning/Collins, barring trouble, will be on the 2018 team. I hope they finish at the bottom of the league this year because all the org filler sucks, get a near A grade prospect (perhaps Beer is an A) and then I hope they're decent in 2018 because of all the young talent succeeding and then they're positioned to spend some and be a playoff team in 2019. If they somehow lucked into Beer he'd probably make it to the big leagues in 2019. Frankly, any 2018 outcome can be spinned into being a positive. You either get one more year of a big draft pool and high selection or you're moving towards contention. Well said. To be honest, I hope they flat out suck in 2017 to possibly get Beer, but I'd like to see some progression in 2018. I'm not expecting a playoff berth or anything, but to have positive contributions by the guys you listed in a couple years would be nice.

Paul Konerko 2020 Hall Of Fame
Paulie is one of my all time favorites, but no, I don't think he's a Hall of Famer. With that being said, he's definitely one of the best Sox players to ever live and will always be remembered for what he did for the team.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 11:00 AM) He had the Marlins at 29 with Arizona 30. Miami would clearly be #30 right now after this trade. Angels are the worst. Detroit is up there too.

Not a Typical Rebuild According to White Sox
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 07:29 PM) Sometime in June. You think it'll be that quick? I know they'll wait a bit to get the extra year of control, but he was drafted just a little while ago. I'm interested in knowing his ETA because of my fantasy league

Somewhat related to this thread, but when do you guys expect Burdi to be in Chicago?

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 04:53 PM) No one cares about the W-L stat for pitchers, but the rest I agree with. While I feel the same way as you, this is simply not true. There will always be someone who faults a pitcher because their win/loss record.
