  1. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 11:31 AM) This is true. And if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle. What if your uncle didn't have balls?
  2. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 11:10 AM) Maybe they end up dealing Tanaka if he is doing good for prospects at the deadline to have more depth for a Q trade? Based on their trades last season, it seems like they're into that. I don't think it's impossible for them to have interest, I just don't see it until around mid-season. You mean so they could trade for Q and have control of him for several years and then resign Tanaka after the season is over? That's a good idea for them.
  3. Anyone think Doug Fister might be a good fit if Q is traded?
  4. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 10:19 AM) I wouldn't give that up if I were the Yankees. Why? Their rotation is absolutely horrific and they have no shot at winning anything right now.
  5. Yankees fans are f***ing morons. They're arguing with me that giving up Frazier and Rutherford for Q is too much.
  6. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 09:10 AM) Agreed. Personally, I don't need Musgrove if it makes the rest of the package weaker on the position player side. This. It makes no sense to insist on Musgrove if the package would be better without his inclusion.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 08:04 AM) I have no information, but I do think today is a day something happens. My sources are telling me the same. I have a feeling that something will happen soon.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 08:46 PM) Very doubtful Yankees were ever that serious in Q. Not at the price of either Torres or Frazier anyway. They should be. Their rotation is awful.
  9. I'm still hoping the Yankees enter the picture for Q again. A package led by Frazier and Rutherford would be pretty exciting.
  10. If Washington really wanted to win in the window in which they have Harper, they'd do something. It doesn't seem like that's the case though which is extremely puzzling.
  11. Mike Napoli probably going back to the Rangers.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 11:59 AM) Robertson would be a good salary dump / way to get worse. Get a low level, lottery ticket. Robertson is not a salary dump at all IMO. He has some value now, with the potential for even more if he has a good 1st half next year.
  13. The Chicago White Sox will be a 64 win team once Jose Guillermo Quintana is traded.
  14. Juan Soto is another guy I like. He's super young but those are the kind of guys that could be ready when the Sox should be able to contend again.
  15. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 10:37 AM) Sox have plenty of payroll flexibility, the issue for them comes down to getting at least one or two solid prospects in return for him. Sox have never been an organization that loves to send a bunch of cash over in trades to make them happen, but in this case I think 6-8 million would make Robertson's deal a 2 year, 17-19 million deal. Which is not a horrible value for him at all I'd eat the whole damn thing if Victor Robles was on the table. He probably isn't but that would be an amazing return even if the Sox paid Robertson's entire contract.
  16. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 10:27 AM) I'm hoping Holland is decent enough to move in July for something. Maybe a lottery ticket, but I'm not even expecting that much. He'll probably just be a 1 year stopgap until guys like Giolito and Lopez are ready for full time roles.
  17. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 10:26 AM) I really think Washington tried to land free agent relievers but failed to sign any of them. Now they are sulking back to the White Sox complaining they can't pay money or prospects but want Robertson. Sox know they have the advantage because the Nats really do need him. Eventually I think they will bite the bullet and offer up a respectable package that includes either Fedde or Soto (likely Soto) plus another piece, which would be a quality move for the Sox We will eat 6-8 million of the contract to help offset some cost, and done deal I could live with that for sure. Soto looks intriguing and the Sox should definitely throw in money if it improves the package coming back. There's no reason not to.
  18. Not expecting much from him at all. 5-11, 4.82 ERA, 143 K's, 1.47 WHIP, 6.2 K/9, and -0.2 WAR in 26 starts
  19. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 10:14 AM) For a team with world series aspirations the next two seasons, not having a proven backend of the bullpen can be a major issue. Say they roll with Treinen and Kelley as 8th and 9th inning options. That leaves them concerningly thin in the event one of them goes down with an injury. Bullpen issues could derail what is otherwise a championship caliber roster for the Nationals. I think they tried to get cute and have been burned by the market, now they might be forced into overpaying Agreed. They way overplayed their hand. They had a multitude of options and let them all go by. Now they have to get Robertson or they'll be burdened with a shaky bullpen for the beginning part of the season.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) No. I think he hits 9th probably. Tim Anderson should leadoff so he gets the most at-bats. 1. T. Anderson SS 2. J. Abreu 1B 3. M.Cabrera LF 4. T. Frazier 3B 5. M. Davidson DH 6. B. Lawrie 2B 7. A. Garcia RF 8. G. Soto C 9. C. Tilson CF That's a bad lineup and way RH. That lineup. Woof. Although I'd like to see Tilson in the 2 spot to see if he can handle it. I also don't see any way Davidson would hit 5th consistently unless they are full on tanking.
  21. Sean Sears knows no more than any of us; just ignore him.
  22. First time I've seen the Phillies connected to Q. https://www.fxtribune.com/m/?id=537307
  23. Shields could be a blessing in disguise next year. The Sox need a high pick anyway so his ineffectiveness will actually be useful, lol.
  24. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) Those 2 scenarios are also independent. Regardless of the return Q brings back, it's likely not helping us win any more or any less games this upcoming season. True. Either way, there is no way I would settle on Q if I was Hahn. Beer looks good now but he is far from a sure thing and there's no guarantee the Sox would get to take him anyway. Making him an integral part of the deal is not wise.
  25. There's no way I take a lesser return for Q right now just to bank on getting Beer later. Sorry.
