Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
I think Philadelphia will be better than the Sox too.

RUMOR: Nothing to see here
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 01:12 PM) Maybe the tweet meant to say "Sox trying work out a deal with the Twins for Park." Like a Park for cash considerations or PTBNL" type of deal. Teams do that when a player is in DFA status and can reject an assignment to the minors knowing that another team can claim or sign him (after he's released). Park for James Shields. Get it done Rick!

RUMOR: Nothing to see here
QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 01:09 PM) Dustin Morse @morsecode 31s Byung Ho Park has cleared waivers and assigned outright to Triple-A Rochester. He will be in major league camp this spring. #MNTwins lol so much for that.

RUMOR: Nothing to see here
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 01:06 PM) If they claim him, they get the contract. So it's an all or nothing type thing? Park wasn't any good last year but I'd still take a chance on him. He's not extremely old and he isn't paid much.

RUMOR: Nothing to see here
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 01:03 PM) How can they be "working on a deal with" him? It makes no sense. They can either claim him or wait until he is released, if he would even be released to speak with him. If Minnesota has to pay him, I see no reason why they wouldn't keep him around. Can the Sox claim him and work out a deal with the Twins to pay Park a portion of the $9 million or whatever the Twins owe him? He was DFAed, so the Twins are on the hook for his contract even if he clears waivers. Maybe the Sox claimed him and are trying to figure out the financials.

RUMOR: Nothing to see here
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) Let him go unclaimed. I don't think any team is going to take on his contract. While not a big deal, he was awful last year. If he went unclaimed and could be signed for the veteran's minimum, I'd be all over that like a fat guy eating Cheeto's.

RUMOR: Nothing to see here
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 12:35 PM) Sears is saying that the Sox are close to a deal with recently DFA'd Byung Ho Park even though he has to clear waivers first. Lets see if he gets lucky again. Maybe they'll claim him. I wouldn't be opposed to it.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 12:07 PM) I am stunned at the lack of activity with the White Sox. I am glad they aren't settling, but I highly doubt the offseason rebuild plan was trade Sale and Eaton for some prospects, get a couple of guys off waivers, sign Geo Soto, call it an offseason. That's pretty much it. I thought they at least would have made another trade or two , even minor, and would have signed some more intriguing Spring Training invites. Agreed. It has been a really long and boring offseason. It would have been even worse if the Sox didn't make those blockbusters at the Winter Meetings.

Predict Thy Numbers: Nate Jones
Assuming Robertson is not traded before the season starts: My predictions - 2-4, 2.67 ERA, 82 K's, 1.08 WHIP, 10.2 K/9, 26 holds, and 2.3 WAR in 72 appearances If Robertson is traded before the season: My predictions - 3-5, 2.95 ERA, 89 K's, 1.13 WHIP, 9.8 K/9, 29 saves, and 2.8 WAR in 78 appearances

Predict Thy Numbers: 2017 Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 09:36 AM) Your predictions don't jive... I will go 78-84, assuming Q or any other major piece isn't moved before the season. Optimistic for sure, but I don't think this team is anywhere near as bad as most everyone here wants them to be. How does it not jive? How do you expect the Sox to have the exact same record as last year when Sale was replaced by Derek Holland and Eaton with Avi Garcia?

Active Players Exempt from Future Qualifying Offers
Good thing Frazier doesn't apply just in case he stays for the entire 2017 season. There is absolutely no reason to not trade Melky and Robertson at some point before next offseason now.

Report: MLB Plans To Test Extra-Innings Rule Change In Lower Level Min
3 1/2 hours and 4 1/2 hours aren't the same thing...so I'm not sure what your point is.

Report: MLB Plans To Test Extra-Innings Rule Change In Lower Level Min
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 08:09 AM) I don't need a Yankee Red Sox game that lasts 4 1/2 hours because Pedroia wants to readjust his gloves between every pitch. It isn't fine the way it is, it needs tweaking I don't know what games you're watching on a regular basis but most games aren't 4 1/2 hours.

PECOTA predicts Sox finish 4th in AL Central
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 08:13 AM) This is why we are done trading. Add another arm, get Moncada to go north from ST and we can compete for a wildcard. Hurry and get a bet down because Vegas odds will soon reflect our optimism. They're not competing for a wild card in 2017. C'mon now.

Report: MLB Plans To Test Extra-Innings Rule Change In Lower Level Min
I don't understand why they need to speed up the game at all. It's fine the way it is. If people have short attention spans, then don't watch the game. No need to ruin it for everyone else.

2016-2017 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 01:53 PM) They don't have the pieces to get Jahlil Okafor. Why? The Pelicans gave the Sixers a journeyman center and a pick. The Bulls could've easily done that.

2016-2017 NFL Thread
I was listening to the radio today and they were vehemently against the Bears trading for Jimmy G. I'd tend to agree. I think it'd be better if they drafted a QB instead of paying a premium for a 1 year rental (unless they tag/extend him).

Really wish the Bulls would've made a trade for Jahlil Okafor. I love his potential.

Predict Thy Numbers: Lucas Giolito
I'm excited to see the responses to this one. I really hope Giolito can progress this year, but I hope he's up by June at the very earliest. Not sure if he'll be on an innings limit but that could play a factor as well. My predictions - 4-6, 4.28 ERA, 88 K's, 1.32 WHIP, 8.6 K/9, and 1.8 WAR in 15 starts

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
I actually do like the idea of getting Koda Glover back in a deal. He's strictly a reliever but that's not necessarily a bad thing. His MILB stats are very impressive.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 12:55 PM) Red Sox sign Carlos Quentin. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/02/red-...os-quentin.html Wtf lol lmao that's strange. Probably just Spring Training depth but I didn't see him as a fit there.
