Adam LaRoche retires
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:11 PM) This was posted 14 hours ago, but thought it was interesting that LaRoche's meat company retweeted it: Desmond Howard @DesmondHoward 14h14 hours ago Hmmmm, I'm thinking that Adam LaRoche will have a very short "retirement". I HIGHLY doubt he'll "unretire" now. He's not a moron. He has to know all the hoopla surrounding this incident and I can't see him going back into the Sox clubhouse again.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:57 PM) So the Jimmy Rollins signing was genius. He got LaRoche off the team and saved the White Sox $13 million. You win the internet for today. Bravo.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) You really think what's happened the last couple days has any bearing on whether Sale will re-sign 4.5 years from now? Come on. Who knows. If Sale hates KW and vice versa, I don't see them agreeing on another deal in future. Just my opinion.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) I am not too worried about that. If he stays healthy his price tag will probably be $35-40 million a year at that point, and he probably will already have peaked. That's true. I just want him to be on the Sox for his entire career and it sucks knowing that he'll go elsewhere in a few years. I'll still root for him either way, but it won't be the same when he's on another team.

Well, the slim chance of Sale coming back to the Sox after his contract is up has officially bit the dust.

QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) I'm also legitimately concerned moving forward that this will hurt the Sox's FA pull. Can't imagine many players want to be a part of something like this. The Sox don't sign top free agents anyway, and the lower tier guys would come here if the Sox promised them $$$.

If this debacle ruins the season, then the Sox were never doing anything this year anyway IMO.

Sign Morneau and forget that this cancer of a player ever put on a White Sox uniform.

I'm not sure why anyone respects Kaplan's opinions. The guy is a tool and a Cubs homer to boot.

Can someone give me a summary of the past 200 or so posts? Thanks in advance.

Boston writer creates Hanley Ramirez rumor
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 07:08 PM) Who cares? He's not saying they are talking about a deal. He's just listing us as a possibility since our DH just retired. That's exactly what he's saying.

This has been the weirdest offseason I can remember.

Is this Kenney guy well regarded as far as baseball rumors go?

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) Good get this idiot out of here. If I got paid $13M to do a job and utterly and embarrassingly failed I would be damn sure to work my ass off next opportunity. Leave your kid at home, shut your mouth, and get in the cage until you figure out how to hit again. All there is to it. And why would you want your kid there anyway? Any locker room setting I've ever been in was no place for a kid. Just because Laroche chooses to live his life a certain way doesn't mean everyone else does. I'm sure there were a lot of guys who felt uncomfortable knowing there was a 14 year old within ear shot at all times. These are my feelings in a nutshell as well. Nice post.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) Austin Jackson double off Garza. Probably won't be on tv because Tigers/Astros still going. Do you think they'll put it on after that current game is over? I really want to see Rodon.

This is a really stupid question, but does LaRoche's kid go to any type of schooling? I understand wanting to be in a Major League clubhouse with your dad, but the kid was getting really annoying.

QUOTE (Coach @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 07:40 AM) Eaton does not have the arm for RF If he's healthy, he does IMO. I just don't know how bad his injury will hurt his throwing.

QUOTE (coco1997 @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 06:52 AM) I don't really understand the Morneau talk. As I see it, with LaRoche gone, the Sox now have four outfielders fighting for three starting spots, plus the DH position, and that's not counting whoever makes the team as the fourth outfielder (Shuck or Sands). So that would be Jackson in CF, Eaton in RF/LF and either Cabrera or Garcia in RF/LF with the other acting as the team's primary DH. Unless Avi gets moved, where would Morneau fit on the roster? My ideal scenario would be to sign Morneau as the DH and backup 1st baseman, and then have Melky in LF, Jackson in CF, and Eaton in RF. Avi could then be the backup DH and 4th outfielder. When Avi plays in the field, shift Eaton to center and put Jackson on the bench as a defensive replacement. When Morneau sits against lefties, let Avi DH in those games. Seems simple enough.

raBBit also pointed out Daniel Vogelbach, Jonathan Singleton, Oswaldo Arcia, and Jesus Montero as potential fits.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 03:16 PM) Justin Morneau will never sign with the White Sox, ever. Even if we were the last team on Earth. Not happening. If the Sox were the only team offering him millions of dollars, he absolutely would come here (assuming that he still wants to play).

I like the Morneau idea much more than Bruce. He'd be much cheaper in terms of money and prospects, and he has proven that he can hit in the AL Central.
