  1. QUOTE (oldsox @ Feb 18, 2016 -> 10:57 AM) I think Sox are comfortable with starting the season with Avi in RF, hoping that he improves significantly. At same time Courtney Hawkins will be tearing it up at Charlotte, and if Avi falters, Hawkins comes up amid high hopes, bordering on hysteria. He delivers big time, LaRoche gets DFA'd, the Comp Pick turns out to be the top prospect in the system, all is good heading into 2017. No offense, but are you high?
  2. Just sign Jackson already. He's the best of both worlds at this point IMO. He's good defensively and wouldn't cost the Sox a draft pick.
  3. If the Bulls could net Okafor without giving up Butler, I'd be ECSTATIC. It won't happen though.
  4. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 18, 2016 -> 09:54 AM) Ownership wants to make the playoffs That makes no sense to me as they have no shot of getting out of the first round if they even make it at all.
  5. Why in the world would the Kings want Gasol? Am I missing something?
  6. The only silver lining I can find with this is that he isn't going back to the Cubs, thus making them weaker.
  7. I wonder if Mario Hezonja would be available. If he is, I'd go after him. I like his game a lot more than McDermott's or Mirotic's.
  8. Frankly, I think most, if not all food at the Cell is overpriced, but it tastes so good that I don't care.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 18, 2016 -> 04:43 AM) Shuck had proven in his career to not be an everyday player. He's a good PH bat and spot starter. This. Shuck is a good pinch hitter/4th outfielder. He would not be a starter on a winning team. That is all.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 07:25 PM) Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 28s28 seconds ago Sources: The expectation of O's is that they will finish deals with both Gallardo and Fowler; Fowler expected to be BAL's right fielder. Jesus f***ing Christ. I hate the Sox sometimes.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) Danks is about the last thing the Braves want right now. If they're unloading Markakis, it's to free themselves of his money. Then why did they take on Swisher and Bourn's contracts in the trade with Cleveland?
  12. I could actually see the Braves being interested in a deal for Danks. Chances are that he'd be better in the NL from a performance standpoint, and then they could flip him at the deadline for more prospects to help their rebuild.
  13. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) Would the Braves trade Markakis and some $$ for Danks? That's a very interesting idea that I don't know the answer to. Would you guys be ok with that deal? Markakis obviously wasn't and isn't our ideal replacement for Avi, but he's solid defensively and has a decent OBP that would make him a nice 2 hole hitter. As much as I hate Danks, he does provide depth. Although he's bad, you can count on him giving the Sox 180 or more innings next year. There's some value in that.
  14. or they could just go with a 5 man rotation of Sale/Q/Latos/Rodon/EJ and throw Danks in the bullpen as the long reliever. Early to me is the first few weeks of the season. If the Sox are in the hunt in July/August/September/October, then obviously we want the top 3 to start as much as possible.
  15. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) No offense, but I really don't. They probably won't but that's what I'd do if I'm Robin. Sale tends to fade down the stretch, so giving him more days off would do him good, and Rodon is young and inexperienced, so he could use breaks too. Not to mention that having EJ in there would break up the lefties a little bit. Sale/Q/Latos/Rodon/EJ/Danks
  16. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 11:20 AM) No matter where you plug Latos in, you have 4 lefties in a row. I could see the Sox going with a 6 man rotation early on to keep Sale/Q/Rodon fresh for a potential postseason run.
  17. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Feb 16, 2016 -> 06:12 PM) How about Beggar's Pizza? I had never tried their pizza because Beggar's does not have any stores in the north suburbs where I'm located, but I was very impressed when I bought a couple slices at USCF last season. . I personally liked Connie's Pizza more when it was at the Cell 5-10 years ago, but Beggar's ain't bad either. Nice food choices everyone. What I would do for a ballpark hot dog right now.
  18. So...is this league still happening? If it is, when will the offline draft start?
  19. DAMMIT. I forgot to put peanuts and bratwurst in the poll. I knew I'd forget something.
  20. Simple question. What is your favorite ballpark food at the Cell or anywhere else? And yes, I'm starving right now so that's why I made this thread.
  21. QUOTE (glangon @ Feb 16, 2016 -> 05:06 AM) I think the 1st 16 games is generally a good indicator of whether the Sox will have a winning season or not. Lets look at what has happened since 2005 - Record in the 1st 16 games 2005 - 12-4 - Winning Season 2006 - 11-5 - Winning Season 2007 - 9-7 - Losing Season 2008 - 10-6 - Winning Season 2009 - 8-8 - Losing Season 2010 - 5-11 - Winning Season 2011 - 7-9 - Losing Season 2012 - 10-6 - Winning Season 2013 - 7-9 - Losing Season 2014 - 8-8 - Losing Season 2015 - 7-9 - Losing Season If you look at the above, apart from the anomaly of the 2010 season, if we have not went at least 10-6 in the opening 16 games, then we've went on to have a losing season. This season our opening 16 games are:- Oakland (road) 4 games. Cleveland (Home) 3 games. Minnesota (road) 3 games. Rays (road) 3 games. Angels (home) 3 games. So for these 16 games to start the season, where do you see us getting 10 wins or more? Realistically, I could see the Sox splitting with Oakland, taking 2/3 against Cleveland, losing 2/3 with Minnesota, and taking 2/3 from Tampa and LA. That would put them at 9-7 after 16 games. I'd take that in a second.
  22. So, are the "Desmond to the White Sox" rumors all but dead at this point? I haven't been following this thread as much lately.
  23. Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I'm going to draft a second baseman next, as Pedroia is getting older and more injury prone. The best ones left are Ian Happ and Forrest Wall. Which one do you think would be better in a dynasty H2H points league?
  24. I just traded a draft pick for Shawn Tolleson. Here is my updated roster. C - Posey/Vogt 1B - Encarnacion/Vogt/Bell 2B - Pedroia/Lawrie SS - Russell/Escobar/Swanson/Bregman 3B - Seager/Lawrie OF - Kemp/Pence/Inciarte/Piscotty/Yelich/Escobar/Winker SP - Sale/Price/Bumgarner/Hamels/Tanaka/Quintana/Chen/Finnegan/Norris RP - Papelbon/Ramos/Street/Perkins/Tolleson I have 3 minor league draft picks left. Which positions would you try to upgrade at if you were me?
