I've sat through a few seminars with Hahn and he mentioned at those seminars he expected Fulmer and Giolito to be major parts of the rebuild.
-
I realize that this 2018 White Sox season is a rebuild/tanking/throwing up the white flag season. Still. to have Giolito continue in the White Sox rotation is a farce. Is Hahn too stubborn to face the fact that Giolito can't get anybody out. They sent Fulmer down to the minors earlier this season simply because he didn't get the job done. Its beginning to look like this so called rebuild is really going to take years before it becomes successful. Too many players counted on to turn this team around are not performing as well as expected. Giolito should join Fulmer in the minor leagues. Hopefully he can turn his career around down there.

Face reality we're stuck with Hahn and company as long as JR owns the team. Hahn has been the GM for 6 years and the team hasn't had one winning season. Most other MLB owners would have replaced him by now. That unfortunately is not going to happen here.

I hope he doesn't take a couple weeks off. SoxTalk is the best site for White Sox fans. Everybody gets to express their opinions without any censorship. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing especially on SoxTalk.

It looks like Palka can hit in MLB. Stone said on todays telecast that Palka is working hard to become a good outfielder. I can't help but wonder. What happens to Palka when Avi Garcia and leury Garcia come back off of the disabled list? Does Palka alternate with Davidson as the DH? Or do the White Sox trade either Palka or Davidson or maybe even Avi Garcia?

White Sox select Nick Madrigal with 4th overall pick
WBWSF replied to Bananarchy's topic in FutureSox Board
I keep reading that Madrigal will be a shortstop when he plays in the minors. If that is true does that mean the White Sox will not bid on free agent Manny Machado this upcoming off season? -
I remember when the White Sox had Carlos Lee. He was bad in the outfield. During one off season he worked like a mad man improving his defensive skills. I'm hoping Palka does the same thing this off season. He looks like he could have a good career hitting with the White Sox.

I don't think anybody thought Covey would be this good. It seems like he turned his career around. Hopefully Fulmer and Giolito can turn there careers around also.

Your post is one of the reasons why Soxtalk.com is the best site for White Sox fans. Your post is rather harsh but still you're expressing how you feel and its accepted by the people who run this site. If you posted this on some other White Sox site (WSI) you would be banned by now.

Because I'm The Worlds Biggest White Sox Fan (WBWSF). I go to 40 games a year, win or lose. I think its pathetic how bad this team is. I like to win.

Say what you want about Tyler Chatwood but who would you rather have on the White Sox, Chatwood, Fulmer or Giolito?

It certainly is a awful franchise. But the franchise is making nothing but money for this ownership. I read yesterday that the White Sox are 29th in team payroll. Oakland is the only team with a lower payroll. Forbes Magazine has said that the White Sox franchise has a gross income of $260 million dollars. With this low payroll JR and his investors are making some serious money here with this horrendous team.

There's a old saying in baseball. Good teams win games, bad teams have meetings.

I WOULD DEFINITELY MAKE THE WHITE SOX GREAT AGAIN.!!!!

If I was the GM of this White Sox team we wouldn't be in the bottom in the standings, attendance and TV ratings. I would have been the talk of MLB and believe me we would be having some fun.
-
I agree with you 100%. The front office could have easily added some players during this rebuild.
-
Its not only UnAmerican to lose, its depressing. Last nights loss to the Tigers is just another loss in another lost season.

I read where it is expected that Machado will receive a contract of at least 10 year/$320 million dollars. If that is true does anybody think the White Sox would pay that amount?

I just finished the book by Ken Harrelson. Even tho it was 370 pages, it was a quick easy read. The only thing I didn't like about the book was Hawk making a bad comment about former sports Writer Bill Gleason. Older people remember Gleason as a life long South Sider and the only sportswriter in Chicago being a life long White Sox fan. Hawk claimed that Gleason hated JR and that Gleason was Anti-Semitic which was why he hated JR. I was acquainted with Gleason for years and believe me he wasn't Anti-Semitic. Yes Gleason did hate JR and Eddie Einhorn but it wasn't because they were Jewish. Gleason thought the two of them were goofs. For years there were reports that Hawk and former Sun Times writer Jay " Woman Beater" Mariotti were involved in a physical fight in the press box. Turns out it was just a verbal altercation between the two. I was disappointed to read that. I wish Hawk would have given Mariotti a few cracks. All in all, a fairly enjoyable book if you like Hawk.

Cano recently tested hot for drugs. He's not the first player and won't be the last player testing positive for drugs. I've always wondered why the owners don't cover themselves when it comes to players using dope. I would think that owners wouldn't want to be responsible for the remainder of the players contract after his suspension was up. The Mariners will still owe Cano some serious money when his suspension is over. I'm surprised that the owners don't have some type of clause in their contracts that they're not responsible for the rest of the contract if the player gets suspended for drugs.

If Hahn had been working as a GM for another team he would have been gone by now. This will be his 6th year as GM and the team hasn't had one winning season. I will say this much for him, he has evidently won the heart of JR.

There is a very interesting column in todays Sun Times by Rick Morrissey about this White Sox season.

Interesting post. Keep in mind that last month Forbes said the White Sox franchise is valued at 1.5 BILLION DOLLARS.(14th in MLB) They also said the White Sox bring in $260 million dollars a year. The team payroll this year is $60 million dollars. In other words this team is making some serious money.

1) Look at the bright side. You will see Moncada in one of baseballs most beautiful parks. 2) The owner/management team threw up the white flag on this season before it even started. The team has holes but the biggest holes are on the pitching staff. The starters and bullpen simply can't get anybody out. The 1927 Yankees lineup couldn't win with this White Sox pitching staff
-
The team would have won at least 90 wins, maybe 95 wins. From there the team would have gone on to glory in the playoffs and World Series.
