  1. If the Cubs want Sale the conversation starts with Bryant, and it would have to be more than just him too. Russell/Schwarber plus two others (and the two others better be damn good as well) sounds a little intriguing, but I'd still 95% say no.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) Yeah, whatever. By 2017, it's going to be like the movie Rookie of the Year except it's real life. You'd agree if it were anybody but the Cubs. Hah, even a lot of koolaid drinking Cub fans would think you're being very optimistic.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:01 PM) Man, it's over when this all comes together. I see a Blackhawks-like run. Heh man you love making bold statements no matter the sport, right? This is baseball, even if you're the best team that kind of run is immensely more difficult to accomplish than it would be in other sports. They're beating up on a s***ty pitcher and suddenly that's enough to make them the next dynasty.
  4. The Cardinals are obviously way in the wrong here but the way it happened is comical. Change your passwords you idiot.
  5. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 10:29 PM) Send down Rodon while we're at it. Nah just tell him to throw the changeup more, the pressure to win for the major league team is now pretty much gone.
  6. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 01:08 PM) The "Pump Up Schwarber Trade Value" tour has begun. He's only here to DH, then going back down to Triple A -- because he has no position. They're probably going to stick him in LF, right?
  7. Bryant now leads baseball in BABIP, I keep waiting for it to fall but it keeps going up.
  8. I agree that Johnson has earned another shot. Season is pretty much over, time to see what we have in him.
  9. So Arrieta has been lit up by all AL teams he's faced this year. He really is just an NL guy.
  10. It's just so maddening that our offense is so bad when it was above average last year, and that was with Avi hurt all year and De Aza and Viciedo getting a lot of playing time. Literally everyone except Avi (who is slumping lately) has taken a big step back this season compared to 2014. The frustrating thing is that if all our guys were even 90% of what they were last season our offense wouldn't be that bad. Did everyone just play over their head last year? I don't think so. But I thought we'd be seeing some positive regression by now and we haven't.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 11:59 AM) The last thing the Sox need is the future Adam Dunn. He might have mostly sucked with us but for like 8 straight years he was a lock to give you 40 HR, 100 BB, and a .900 OPS. You wouldn't take that?
  12. The return would have to be 4 top 50 prospects minimum, with two of those in the top 20. Even then I'd hate it. Please no.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 08:49 AM) The same reason the majority of NL players that came to the White Sox have been disappointments... They do seem to do quite well in finding guys who suck in the AL but suddenly pitch like Cy Young contenders in the NL.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:14 PM) Frazier hits top of fence in center. You could see the magic escape coming with the Reds AAA hitters coming up. Cubs have a giant horse shoe up their ass. Not to mention that nearly all their moves this past offseason have worked out while nearly all of ours have blown up in our face. I still don't understand how Hammel is doing so well for them, he got pounded in Oakland last year.
  15. And the Blue Jays are going to win 11 straight. Wow.
  16. I kind of want the Pirates to kick our ass now because 1) we should be sellers and that might be what finally convinces Hahn that this team is going nowhere and 2) f*** the Cubs.
  17. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 08:28 PM) An underrated bad part of it was trading Phegley. I hate this 4A crap. Hitters that hit at AAA more often than not end up hitting at MLB. It's only 85 PA, but I didn't realize he had an OPS of .855. Damn, would have been nice to have him instead of Flowers, even if his performance dips.
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 08:53 PM) Nothing that is my point Sox think Flowers is just fine. What makes you think this is the case?
  19. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 07:41 PM) Hammel is pitching wonderfully with the Cubs and is a bargain. McCarthy was pitching excellently before he was injured bar a freaky HR/FB rate and who's to say he gets injured if he comes here. I don't see how you can possibly make that argument. With the rotation we started the year with, we had Danks and Noesi as number 4 and 5, with their SIERAs of 4.46 and 5.06. My rotation has Hammel and Rodriguez as the 4 and 5s, with SIERAs of 2.86 and 3.99. Again, McCarthy mightn't go down if he's here and his SIERA was 2.48 to Samardzija's was 3.91, not to mention the cost given up to get him. And even if you say he still probably gets injured, I have Rodon to come up, and I give Junior Guerra spot starts. As for the future, I have years of control on my pitchers that Samardzija doesn't and you don't want with Danks. I agree with you here but you are looking at it with a bit of hindsight. Rodriguez is 36 and hasn't pitched more than 100 innings since 2012. Hammel pitched significantly worse than Samardzija when they were both on the A's. If we had picked up both those guys instead of Jeff before the season people wouldn't have been nearly as happy. Also McCarthy has been a big injury risk for a while now, but we do have a track record of keeping pitchers healthy.
  20. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 07:19 PM) I disagree he was solid #3 and they could of waited on a extension, no rush he was under team control 2 more years before extension. There were not 50-60 pitchers better than him during that time (which is what a #3 would be). If he hadn't gotten hurt the extension would have been fine.
  21. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 07:12 PM) Maybe not #4 material, but definitely #3. He was only the third best pitcher on that 2008 team behind Buehrle and Gavin Floyd. No he wasn't, he was our best. Floyd was a bit overrated that year.
  22. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 07:06 PM) #3 on his best day. The extension from KW should of never happened. Danks was 19th in WAR among starting pitchers from 2008-2010. A top 20 pitcher in baseball is not a #3. He was deserving of the extension. Not his fault he got an injury that no one has successfully come back from. You guys are underrating him here. WAR might not be the be-all to end-all stat, but he was no worse than a #2 pitcher during those 3 seasons.
  23. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 07:06 PM) That's debatable. I always saw him as a #3 or #4 in 2008/2009 when he was at his best. He had over 5 bWAR 3 years in a row. That's #4 material?
  24. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 07:00 PM) He was ineffective half of the time even when he was in his prime. That's just not true. In his prime he was a very good #2 pitcher.
  25. Saying that Lebron's GOAT status hinges on the result of this series seems pretty absurd IMO. So if he's a complete monster the rest of the series and goes 60/20/15 from here on out on 70% shooting, but the Cavs lose by 1 in Game 7 because JR Smith made a stupid play then he's not co-GOAT, but if he plays sub-par and the Cavs win anyway then he is? That doesn't make any sense. Let's not judge a player for something that is out of their control, like Curry suddenly catching fire or a teammate making bone-headed plays.
