Sox acquire Nomar Mazara for Steele Walker
The team has nothing but $$ and they use assets to bring in talent. I hate this trade. I wanted the Sox to use a stopgap in RF until we see what we have in the minors. For awhile now, I have really liked Walker. He will now be a doubles machine for the Rangers and not on the South Side. This offseason needed to be about pitching, pitching, pitching....maybe it still will be. As I have said before, I just do not trust Hahn to not trade the wrong assets.

Nomar Mazara Speculation
I'll reserve judgement until I see who they give up....the problem is I just don't trust Hahn to not trade the wrong guy(s)

Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
Yolmer must've been the exception because he sure didn't win it with his bat

Well, baseball is supposed to be entertaining and that sure in the hell was fun to watch...not if your a Cardinal fan or the pitcher though

Many disagree with me I am sure, but I think Steele Walker is the long term answer there....Of course I would not object to Uncle Jerry opening up the checkbook for George Springer next offseason ?

Honestly, I was expecting a short term deal for RF, expecting that position to be filled from the minor leagues long term. I expected the $ to be spent on pitching (and maybe it still will be). I would not like the signing but I will root for him if he's here...offensively he would obviously be a major upgrade from the black hole we had there last year.

I just don't think that Ozuna is the type of free agent signing I expected when they said the $ would be spent. If it is a long term deal, I do not like it. If it is a 2 year deal, fine but I doubt they would give up a draft pick for a short term signing.

One of my favorite non World Series White Sox moments was Pablo Ozuna's 2 out walk off bunt. As for Marcell Ozuna...meh

Sox Claim Tayron Guerrero
Any chance we can stretch him out to be one of the SP we needed this offseason?

Angels sign Rendon - 7yrs 245
Can we please stop talking about trading Madrigal. I really would like the payoff having to watch a full year of shitty White Sox baseball for the opportunity to draft the kid. We will regret it if we trade him away IMHO.

Angels sign Rendon - 7yrs 245
Ah, the Palka clause. I would take that tradeoff as well. More $$ for pitching that way as well.

Angels sign Rendon - 7yrs 245
Personally, I am good with pursuing a short term option for RF this season. I may be very wrong, but I see Steele Walker as the long term answer in RF. I think he will be a doubles machine on the South Side. That being said, Springer is very clutch and might be more attainable $$ wise than Betts next offseason if we are pursuing a big name guy.

Angels sign Rendon - 7yrs 245
So you disagree with me about pursuing Springer? I am being serious...I would like to know your opinion on him.
-
Sox Claim Tayron Guerrero
Why not...power arm to try out in the pen.

Angels sign Rendon - 7yrs 245
I'd love the Sox to pursue George Springer when he becomes a free agent, I believe at the end of next season.

Successful Plan B; What’s Next?
Thinking about a Plan B...It seems to me that Hahn & Co did not really have a plan B last year after losing out on Machado. I know it is very early, but I wonder if they really did not have a plan B after Wheeler? I am pretty sure they figured they would get him at the amount they were willing to offer and went after him aggressively early on. I would guess that there is a Plan B because this should be an important offseason. I just don't know which way they will go...put the $$ towards improving the offense more, or still spend big on the SP that is left? (Outside of Cole and Strasburg that is...that offer to Wheeler seems like the very tip top of what the Sox would offer on a free agent pitcher).

Cole to the Yankees: 9 years, $324 million.
I am shocked that he would sign this early. Maybe he always wanted to go to the Angels. Very interested to see the $ numbers on this one.

Sox in on MadBum
This is the first time I can remember monitoring a free agent thread and hoping it does not work out. The Sox desperately need SP but MadBum is not the answer, especially at the supposed price tag.

Hey, does anyone have the engineering chops to design a MadBum exploding bobble head? I'd go to that giveaway.
