  1. If last night does not give this team momentum then nothing will.....
  2. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 07:40 PM) I think people are using their dissatisfaction with the team's on field performance an excuse to discredit the FO and organization as a whole. Ummm, what?
  3. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) So tired of the negativity. This team is at .500 with only 3.5 GB AT THE START OF JUNE! There is still months left. You would think the way you have been posting this team is 10 GB. There's still plenty of the season left. Must be brutal and depressing watching this team hoping shields is as bad or worse than shields. Thank you. While this team has been very tough to watch the last month, there is still 102 games left!
  4. While Rollins was awful on the field, we cannot forget that he was one of the ring leaders who was instrumental in getting rid of the Laroches. While his tenure here was short lived, I will always thank him for that....
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 02:57 PM) Bingo. There is zero chance that this stopping them from doing anything else. None. For what it's worth once again (in the Mat Latos thread I stated aprox. 20 minutes before it was announced that my buddy who works for the sox & bulls said that this was being announced today or tomorrow), he also said this. This move is solely in case they are not able to land a big bat, which unless the wheels continue to completely fall off they will make every effort to.
  6. Take it for what it's worth, but heard from my buddy who works for sox & bulls that expect a Morneau signing announcement today or tomorrow.
  7. 3-12 against the other 3 is unacceptable. But we have 9 coming up against them. While I can see why some have written off the season, I am reserving judgment on this team until the 19th of the month. Take 2 of 3 from Nats and 2 of 3 from the OTHER 3. 8-4. Honestly, if we can't take 2 of 3 from KC at home there is something very wrong. I think we get back on track this home stand. While we do need another bat, the bats will heat up a bit this home stand I think. Go Sox!
  8. I am probably one of the few people that would not mind Shields. As long as we don't pay too much of his contract. The guy will pitch better than he has with SD.
  9. QUOTE (captain54 @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 03:39 PM) I wish people would stop with "the Sox are above .500 and in 2nd place on June 1st. Everybody would have been happy with that pre-season" That's not the point. During the course of the first 1/3 of the season, the Sox lost a 6 game lead and then dropped 2 games back. That's a pretty alarming swing. Despite that, the season proceeds as is and the status quo remains Hahn's recent comment on the state of the Sox seemed to infer that the same bunch got the club 13 games over at some point, so it's certainly capable of doing it again. Yea Rick. But the same bunch also was capable of a 7 game losing streak and some historically horrific loses. So equally, they are capable of that as well That's the thing. Some of those losses were just awful. I understand the argument of everyone would have taken this pre-season, however not with some of the losses we have had..... That 7-1 blown lead in the 9th against KC still makes my stomach turn.
  10. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 04:05 PM) I meant Baltimore because they are a game up on the Sox for the 2nd wild card. Let's go into DET now with are top three pitchers and start a nice winning streak. Also, it's June 1st. For right now I am rooting against the teams in my division...
  11. I doubt they get this one in again tonight.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ May 26, 2016 -> 04:55 PM) Harvey, Matz, and deGrom next week. I am already calling this will be the start where Harvey turns it around......... Not a hard prediction to make, but this is where he gets going.
  13. Abreu really needs to start hitting, and I think he will eventually. This lineup will look a lot better when he does. This is a big week, I am really hoping for 3 of 4 against Cleveland and 2-2 at KC.
  14. It is a 162 game season. The sox don't blow that game against Texas or take one more in NY, we go 3-3. The tone would be a lot different. Regardless, if they played 500 ball the rest of the way that would put us at 86 wins. I think we still need another pitcher, and another bat. But this is stuff that will be addressed at the deadline. Basically, I think we are going to be fine.
  15. Could live with a 3-3 trip, not 2-4. Especially with an off day Thursday, off day Monday and against the Yankees. Hopefully we have a good home stand next week.
  16. QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 02:19 PM) While I disagree that Jackson should be in the 2 hole right now, it makes a lot of sense for how he's swinging the bat right now. He's definitely going to see more fastballs in front of Abreu. That said, I really think Robin needs to be stacking this differently right now. Maybe something like: Eaton Abreu Cabrera Frazier Lawrie Rollins DH Avila Jackson I agree. If Abreu continues the way he has been, Robin will have to get creative with the line up.
  17. I agree with two previous posts, he misses Drake and he is working with Avi to fix a few things. Seriously, he will be fine.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 02:31 PM) Abreu vs Street's slider in the 9th should be comical A guaranteed strike-out. Sad but I would bet money on it. I will just be praying for a HBP or something.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 04:13 PM) Sale has taken that next step into unhittable. That's why maybe it is our year despite some obvious team weaknesses. Don't discount a Cubs-Sox WS just yet and if Sale and our other arms are still strong in the postseason, we might win it all. I know it is only April 20th, so obviously this means nothing. Back in 2012 I said in 2016 you would see a Sox-Cubs WS. I don't know why I said 2016, but I did and I just stuck with it over the last four years. That would be something.... Now back to reality. Let's win a John Danks start tomorrow.
  20. QUOTE (wizeguy57 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 03:15 PM) At least they are winning these games where their hitting has been atrocious. You have to believe that the middle of the order is going to start hitting. As stated, you have to win games like this if you want to make the playoffs. Prior sox teams would not have won this game. We need to pile up wins while our pitching is this good. Offense will get better and we have payroll flexibility at the deadline if we are in it. Go Sox!
  21. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 11:19 AM) So it's the hitting coach's fault that guys with notoriously low .obps can't get on base much? The Sox ignore on-base percentage. If they don't hit a s***load of homers, I expect their offense to be in the low 20's again. Not saying it's entirely his fault, just saying that a good hitting coach might be able to help... It definitely is not the reason people are not showing up, just a very small part of what was mentioned below. Gotta agree with Mark here. I am excited as anyone about the great start this team had and I will go to plenty of games this season b/c I am geniunely excited about this team, but let's not pretend like an 8-2 suddenly erases the memories of the last couple of years of this organization. This is a team that brought back an awful manager, brought back a terrible hitting coach, decided to continue running out one of the worst players in baseball, and didnt land the extra big bat that everyone was screaming for this offseason. It's hard to forget about those things as a fan. I think this team has the potential to be very good, but do you really blame people for being skeptical right now? Especially since 2 of their 3 home games have been absolute blowouts?
  22. QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 10:17 AM) Gotta agree with Mark here. Especially since 2 of their 3 home games have been absolute blowouts? Agree with both posts. While I do not dislike Ventura as much as some, Steverson might be the worst hitting coach in baseball. While I was not calling for Robin's job after last season, I was pretty upset we brought this guy back.... We have some bats on this team that have a lot more potential than they will give us, I partially blame that on our awful hitting coach.
  23. This screams a sox loss. But as mentioned earlier, hopefully we can break a few of those prior trends. Go SOX!
  24. QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 12:04 PM) People are going to say this is an overreaction, but stuff like this is exactly why Robin shouldnt be the manager. He's weakening the OF defense in a stadium with a massive outfield for a pitcher that will likely have a lot of balls put in play against him. Not only that, but you're keeping your 2 current weakest hitters in the lineup and sitting the one that is actually hitting and has experience against this pitcher? Not to mention you're moving Melky up to the 2 hole despite a complete absence of on base ability thus far this season? Just absolutely clueless IMO. This. 100% agree on everything.
