  1. I am by no means an expert on any of this, but how I understand it, teams aren't able to sign players whose contracts have expired from other teams until 5 days after the World Series ( or 3 apparently depending on the contract)...so I am wondering if Abreu declaring free agency the first day after the World Series means he can now negotiate with any team he wants, instead of needing to wait until, what, Tuesday next week?
  2. A side note...kind of surprised to see Abreu on that list of those who elected free agency already. Isn't the initial negotiating period 5 days? Thought he would at least negotiate explicitly with the Sox for that time period before officially electing free agency. I also am a bit surprised they didn't offer Osich a contract. I know that's not the worst thing in the world, but he did well in the 2nd half and I think deserved another year at least, especially being a lefty. Boston obviously sees something in him.
  3. Yeah, combined with most people live in the eastern time zone, these games start at 8 and end at almost midnight. People have kids to get to bed and jobs to go to in the AM. They need to start at 7 eastern. More people will watch, especially with these games taking forever.
  4. I probably should have checked myself. I remember hearing it on a podcast.
  5. I get that his market is pretty much only half the league, but I still don't understand how there aren't more teams that make a lot of sense other than Texas, Seattle and the Sox. Wasn't this like one of the worst years for DHs in the history of the league?
  6. I swear, all of the highlights I've ever seen of Fernando Rodney are of him blowing a game.
  7. So apparently, just learned from the telecast that Urquiddy had a tryout for the Sox...funnt because when I thought to myself that Urquiddy seems like a White Sox guy.
  8. Kind of an unrelated question, and maybe this is just me being naive, but I always wondered how sites like Stub Hub and SeatGeek were able to legally operate. Wouldn't the teams or performers LOSE money from people buying from 3rd party ticket sellers? I don't go to many games per year because of where I live, so I usually buy my tickets online through seatgeek since they tend to have the best deals in my opinion, but I always wondered...my money is going to the person who originally bought the tickets, not to the White Sox. I never buy directly from the Sox site/Ticketmaster since the 3rd parties have such better deals.
  9. Read he died from a blood clot during knee surgery. Wow.
  10. Not sure if anyone else is watching this, but a pretty horribly announced game so far.
  11. As it stands now, it's not strong 1-9. They still need to find a DH and a RF, and who knows how Robert will fare when he arrives. He could struggle out of the gate. Same with Madrigal.
  12. Wonder if this means Girardi won't be signing with the Cubs
  13. My sentiments exactly. I live near Grand Rapids, MI and they have an arena in the city. A WWE event was being held there the other day and I was like...that's still a thing??
  14. If Stony left, I would LOVE to have AJ in the booth. He would be more of a homer than Hawk though lol
  15. I don't understand. Anyone who listens to Stone knows he is extremely knowledgeable of the game, and is just a very wise person in general. What if Reinsdorf really has done so much for so many people that never gets publicized and now one false claim is put out there against him and it blows up, and now this is what everyone thinks of him? What if Stone is just defending the truth? I would commend anyone for doing that. Hell, the people that work for Jerry are the ones that know him the best, which happen to be the Sox employees. Who the hell else is going to speak against these comments? Hope Stony stays in the booth. I know he's getting older, but I have a lot of respect for him.
  16. I'm already starting the petition for Bill Walton. We're going to hit all of our balls over the moon and through the stratosphere.
  17. Say what you want about Nova, hes got some nasty movement on his stuff today
  18. He actually had decent stuff and pitched a scoreless inning.
  19. The pitching injuries just keep piling up
  20. Insane that Bellinger was taken that low in the draft
  21. There goes whatever value anyone thought he might have.
