I'm not a Benetti fan. He comes across as too much of a nerdy goofball. Too many questions, etc. He's probably here for a while though. On the bright side, I don't see myself watching many games in the coming years with a looming rebuild. I'd like to see former players in the booth they have a lot more to offer with in game commentary and perspective.

Nationals (Scherzer) @ Sox (Shields)

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 08:21 PM) I know that but I'm just saying I doubt the Red Sox would do it because as you said "stud for 15 years." Plus, Price aside, they don't really do longterm deals to pitchers. They'd be more likely to extend Bogaerts to a long term deal than Sale after his contract is up. From playing and watching the game for a long time that's just my opinion on him. Do the Red Sox think he's untouchable? Who knows -

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) Which is why the Red Sox would likely hesitate to do it and then not do it. You don't give away a pitcher of Sale's caliber for a bunch of maybes. -

QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 07:03 PM) The packages Boston or the Dodgers could offer for Sale would be ridiculous. I would demand Bogaerts as part of a deal for Sale. That guy is going to be a stud for another 15 years. -

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 07:55 PM) Gonzalez was the logical choice for the 5th spot when we made this god awful trade. I agree if you look at the Shields thread I said Gonzalez and Latos would be better than him. They must have thought Latos is going to go off the rails at some point. The trade never made any sense to me. -

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 07:40 PM) So who takes Shields' spot in the rotation? Bonus question: does this go down as the worst of all KW trades? Gonzalez would be the logical choice. Scott Carroll, Turner, and Volstad is all we have going down 2 levels. Fulmer and Adams regressing a lot this year. -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 07:31 PM) Look the CW on this board is clearly in support of hyper acquisition of veteran players (as long as they don't trade Anderson to get them). So be it, but I continue to hope Williams/Hahn rethink their philosophy. What I'm scared about now is Hahn/KW doing a fire sale with guys like Q, Sale in a year or so and completely busting because they can't evaluate talent and prolong the rebuild. I don't want any of our top players traded until we get a new front office in place.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 07:27 PM) Why just him? A lot of people were good with this move. Because you were maybe right about one move, you're a better talent evaluator? Quick sign this guy up White Sox! Groupthink is a dangerous thing. Eat crow, then go back to your safe space.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 07:24 PM) What is the point of this? Immature and stupid. What is the point of your post? I'm calling out this fool

QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) For the record, I think EJ will be better in SD than Shields was. I also think Shields won't be any better than Latos or Gonzalez. And I think it's dumb to give up a young guy like Tatis Jr for a fringe starter. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) Looked like a gas can against the Sox in spring training and he hasn't been any better in the regular season. An ERA above 4 in the NL is terrible especially in that pitcher's park. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) This point is hilariously s***ty. Not my fault you are horrible at evaluating talent. The truth sucks doesn't it?

What the organization needs is a top to bottom house cleaning. Senior executives, scouting, minors, majors, ownership, players. It's anybody's guess how much longer JR will live so we could be looking at another 10-20 years of this garbage. Hopefully the team won't be on the verge of moving by that point. And when the fire sale happens in 2-3 years, please get some great minor league talent evaluators in place. This staff has whiffed quite a bit as of late.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 02:23 PM) At this point, even Nick Delmonico could be a better DH option than Rollins. Yeah an A ball guy we picked up off the scrap heap might actually get a look with the big club this year. Says a lot about our minor league system.

Another trade for a washed up position player and reliever and they might be able to trick the fans into filling the seats the rest of this season. -

6/3 Game Thread - White Sox @ Tigers

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 10:46 PM) The biggest need was unaddressed....that LH platoon bat/DH/1B/OF that would present a legit power threat off the bench, someone like a Pedro Alvarez. We had LaRoche at the time -
On a side note, Ranaudo with 1 walk in 21.2 IP as a starter in Charlotte. If he can pitch under control going forward he could contribute to the back end of the rotation at some point.

Cashing in on Todd Frazier at the deadline?
soxforlife05 replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd at the bare minimum want a majors ready LH power bat and a catcher in the mid-minors who projects as a major league starter. This would allow you to bring Anderson up and play him every day at SS and make Saladino the every day 3B (unless you want to give Davidson/Delmonico a shot). -
QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 01:14 AM) You see that Shields gem tonight? 2.2 IP 10 ER....Ouch, maybe trade talk is very real and he was nervous? If we were to give up anything more than EJ for him I will be very pissed. EJ might actually be better than him. Seattle's offense isn't even good.

QUOTE (ronkark @ May 30, 2016 -> 10:44 PM) Fitting Abreu wiffed for final out. Our doughy slugger who plays poor D, doesn't walk, can't run. He has to hit. In his last 10 games of his so called breakibg out of slump, he has 1 walk, and 10 k's. .248 with 6 hrs on the season. The SEASON! no big hits. and for all the frazier love, no free passes here. .220? homers are great but .220 is a career low folks.. team not worth watching right now. Frazier is just a very streaky hitter. He was hitting around .300 at the all-star break last year and finished the season hitting .255

Morrissey: JR/Sox don't care what fans think/want

QUOTE (Vance Law @ May 30, 2016 -> 05:35 PM) Fans are meatheads. If you run an organization paying attention to their idiotic wants and decrees you have no chance. We have only won 1 series this entire month, and it was against the Twins. -
I want Robin gone cause I never liked the hire in the first place. Very questionable to hire someone with zero managerial experience. He's done nothing in any aspect of managing the team that stands out as being above replacement level. He's also shown zero improvement year to year. Still making the same dumb managing errors he did in his first season.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 29, 2016 -> 08:28 PM) Ummm...if Anderson didn't average 88-90 MPH with the fastball and had stellar/pinpoint control, sure. He's not much better than Scott Carroll. In fact, Carroll mentally might be better suited to the long man role than Johnson. And this is one area where the Montas trade hurts us (of course, he's on the DL for LAD)...but he or Fulmer or perhaps Tyler Danish all looked like ideal candidates to pitch out of the bullpen at some point this season. Webb/Beck being disappointments has also been a pretty big blow to bullpen depth. I've been keeping an eye on Montas. It looks like he's in AA working as a reliever I'm sure if he has success he'll be in their bullpen at some point later in the year.
