I love ball-busting, rally-killing double plays......when the OTHER team hits into them.

abreu says he was ready to play tonight
A player like Abreu who has had a track record of success in the majors will likely make adjustments and turn it around. I think scouts have found a vulnerability in his swing or approach including perhaps his tendency to be late on outside high fastballs with 2 strikes on him. Whatever the case, I think he will adjust. Maybe he is pressing now and swinging to hard to hit a home run. All he has to do is connect. His arms are like tree trunks. Meanwhile, he is gold glove quality D at first. The other problem now is that neither Mercedes nor Vaughn have been providing him with much protection. We need ALL of them to rake.

Martyl Reinsdorf, spouse of Chicago Bulls and White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, has passed away
Condolences from my family and friends to Jerry, his children and their families. We are life long White Sox fans who are still grateful to Jerry for keeping the White Sox in Chicago and restoring the credibility of the franchise. I did not realize that Martyl was a jewelry designer that designed the White Sox 2005 World Series ring and likely others given to players over the years. I never met her but I am sure she was a great person and that her loss will be deeply felt.

Heyman: Sox interested in someone on some team. Nightengale: *nods*
Do you discount the possibility that he is a Covid long hauler or has other lingering physical injuries that he may be able to overcome?

Not sure how much weight he lost but he had a serious issue with balance if you look at that video. He has also had two serious Achilles heel injuries since then. I would like to see more current video(s) of Burger taking ground balls at second, pivoting, and throwing on to first for a double play. I have an open mind for players who have conditioned themselves and developed into major league level players and would be very happy if he did that.

I think that the Cuban players that are part of the core of this team should be kept intact unless and until there is an obvious need to trade one of them. I don't see a need to move Moncada. He is a great third basemen and still has a high ceiling offensively. There is a lot to be said for loyalty to these players including the recruitment of other Cuban players like Cespedes and Oscar Colas. Burger as an infielder? Fielding ground balls appears to be his Achilles heel.

Tonights Game Postponed
Based on predictions, I don't understand how this game was postponed. When the Sox really want to get a game in, they will make fans suffer through hours of soaking rain.

Sheets Returning (Per WSD)

Trade an asset
Cali: Rodon has earned loyalty points with management so I don't think the WSox would be inclined to initiate trade discussions involving him. Having said that, almost any player could be on the trading block for the right return. Personally, I think Cease would be the first of the five that the Sox would consider trading... at this point. However, the Sox might be reticent to trade any starter while they are still in contention, especially if they have new doubts about Kopech's long-term durability. I know that trading a top 3 starter would be viewed as heresy, but personally, I would not bat an eye if the Sox trade Keuchel for the right player(s) and prospect(s). Since Dallas Keuchel stated that he still considers Houston Home, maybe a trade to Houston would make him happy and the Astros as well. They have plenty of trade capital. Tray of spaghetti.
