  1. Benetti and Stone scoreboard watching as though the Sox have a shot at the Division with this team.
  2. tray replied to Texsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Yankees are the team to watch if you want to watch wins. The Sox , even without the injuries, are well short on the talent needed to compete against the top tier teams. Many on this forum lauded the signing of Grandal and the trade that brought Moncada. Those players are inconsequential at this point. Our starting pitching is spotty and the bullpen is a joke. The Sox may become sellers by the trade deadline. Then tank it and bring up Colas., Colson Montgomery, etc and at least make losing an interesting pastime.
  3. Sox won 2/3 from Toronto, a team with a far better line-up and much deeper talent.
  4. "getting ready" ? He is recovering from surgery for C sake.
  5. I wonder if Grandal and Eloy had a similar surgical procedure on their hamstrings. They have both had setbacks in their respective recovery/rehabs.
  6. LaRussa ruined him....
  7. I would not be surprised if Moncada is suffering from the same oblique that he has had for months and seemingly years. There isn't much the Sox can do with him other than relegate him to the Injured list and then platooning him to see what he has left in the tank.
  8. Gio's high fastball wasn't getting called and he was getting behind in too many counts. Pack this one in and we go after them tomorrow.
  9. Super Joe is the worst 3rd base coach in baseball
  10. Eloy starts and switches between LF and at DH when he returns....and he will hit home runs which the Sox haven't done enough so far this season. I am not fine with Moncada at 3B every game based on one good offensive performance against Detroit, including one AB against a position player. I am also not sure Burger has the durability to play every game, even as a DH given his two Achilles injuries. If you don't want Eloy, you must not want to win this season. He can provide a lot of what is lacking in the line-up and in the clubhouse in terms of his positive attitude and fun spirit .
  11. Vaughn looks like a legitimate .300 hitter this year. .400 if he can face Detroit pitching. He killed Detroit in that early series plus this last one and the Sox have several more games left against the Tigers. Detroit has really thrown in the towel .It is ugly to see that this early in the season. They should at least make it look like they are trying.
  12. The thing about Major league baseball, as in life, no one is irreplaceable. If Joe Kelly can remain healthy, he can fill in as Closer. He might even thrive in that role for us. Hendricks was lit up a few times by hitters who geared up for his fastball. He countered by mixing in more sliders and it proved to be a good strategy. However, I wonder if his slider put more strain on his forearm than his fastball. even though they both look like maximum effort pitches. Anyway, I wish him the best.
  13. Will you shut up if the Sox go on a winning streak and move into first place?
  14. You point to something that a lot of fans lose site of. Luis Robert, and Andrew Vaughn are excellent players, but they are not Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton primarily because they are not hitting nearLY as many HR. Sox hitters need to pound out a lot more HR to win some of these close games.
  15. Trade Vaughn and Sheets to the Cubs for Chris Morel and Wilson Contreras, Put Morel in RF. DFA Harrison and AJP.
  16. I don't think some people here have any desire to express positive thoughts or comments about the White Sox. One stated that Eloy was not "entitled to the benefit of the doubt." Not entitled? Another called for some kind of "public shaming" of Tony LaRussa. How about a public stoning. Others gleefully denigrate Jerry Reinsdorf and TLR based 0n their age. Then there are the know-it-all Monday morning quarterbacks who revel in second guessing any decision that does not work out. Of course they are smarter then LaRussa who has 3 WS championships, decades of experience and a law degree. There is no sense of camaraderie between those claiming to be WSox fans ans on this forum and very little respect shown for one another. On the contrary, oneupmanship and personal attacks are the norm. It is difficult to detect a drop of positivity in a cesspool of mean-spirited sports ignorance, but fwiw, I think the Sox offense ignites once TA and Eloy return. Now go ahead, and do the things you do here. Excoriate me.
  17. Trea hit one on a 1-1 count. the night before against a RH pitcher. . You think he hasn't hit one on 1-2 against a weak LH pitcher. Again, if TLR let Trea hit and he put another laser in the stands, the reaction by some fans and media would likewise be over the top batsh1t crazy. This is all about nothing at the end of the day.
  18. The responses to my above post which show what Trea Turner did the previous evening are not surprising given the level of personal animosity shown here. I just cited fact - Trea Turner blasted a HR against us less than 24 hours earlier...one that salted that game away. So TLR decides to pitch to him and Trea goes deep..AGAIN, ..with the Max Muncy on deck. Tell me that fan reaction by TLR detractors would be any different. It wouldn't. I sense hatred by some fans. Is that what this is because it sure doesn't seem like normal baseball fandom to me.
  19. What an absurd overreaction by some fans to the intentional walk to Trea Turner with 2 strikes on him Oh, less than 24 hours\ earlier..OK with one strike... Trea Turner laser home run
  20. An analysis replete with non-sequiturs.
  21. Sack man strikes quickly. LOL.
  22. The count means nothing. You risk a wild pitch by trying to half-ass get Turner to bite on pitches way out of the zone. The decision LaRussa had was whether it would be better for a pretty weak LH pitcher to face Trea Turner or Max Muncy. He made the wrong call and opened himself up to wild criticism from his most ardent critics. Trea hit a laser home run the night before so that may have had something to do with the decision. Easy one to criticize but there is a school of thought in many sports that states that you just don't let certain star players beat you, and take your chances with the rest. So Trea Turner vs Max Muncy?
