  1. I wonder who owns all of the parking lots around the stadium. The Sox have added parking over the years and there is more land in the neighborhood that they can still probably acquire at reasonable cost as Bridgeport continues to gentrify and the South Loop - Halsted corridor continues to improve. I would like the Sox purchase the small housing development to the South or possibly construct new housing in the area and arrange a swap for it.
  2. Sox have not produced much offense in the 3 L's so that will likely impact how TLaR makes his line-up. Yermin is hot so he will stay with him as DH . Perhaps Vaughn in LF with Hamilton as a late inning replacement. The loss of Eloy took part f the heart and soul out of this line-up. Luis Robert needs to take every pitch that is middle out. He needs to hunt pitches that he can hit and just give the pitchers the outer half.
  3. I have not seen an update about Eloy post-surgey, i.e., the standard line that surgery went well and he is recovering well.
  4. Listen, pitch calling is minimally the responsibility of the Manager and Pitching coach. That is the responsibility of the pitcher and catcher. They should study and respect scouting reports. However, a glaring mistake should have been called out so that it would not be repeated, but it was, and it cost the game.
  5. LaRussa can't call every pitch and he doesn't hit. I was wondering why Grandal called for a fastball on 2-0 count to Jared Walsh who kills fast balls, especially from a RH pitcher. OK, that was a mistake, but then he makes the same mistake on another 2-0 count to Walsh and he hits the walk-off home run. So Walsh gets flat fastballs served up by Sox pitchers but Luis Robert gets nothing but dirty sliders low and outside. Maybe Collins or Mercedes can call a better game.
  6. Matt Vasgersian kept referring to the White Sox as one of the heavyweights in the AL, right up with the Yankees as favorites to go the the World Series. They aren't, especially after the loss of Eloy.
  7. Tim looked like he pulled a hamstring.
  8. "Assuming Eloy still has trade value" Really? Eloy will be the Sox starting LFer when he returns. He did not sacrifice his position because of a freak injury that wasn't his fault. It was a freaking accident.
  9. I hope Engel returns soon. There isn't any good option out there now, and no, Vaughn is not an adequate LFer. He can shag routine fly balls but that doesn't mean he will make the more difficult plays that are expected of a major league outfielder.
  10. The loss of Eloy makes the first four or five spots at the top of the order less imposing no matter how you juggle it.
  11. Tune in to Soxtalk after Vaughn boots one in Left or cannot get to a ball that most left fielders would and it costs the Sox the game.
  12. As a team and as a player nothing wrong with being aggressive and taking it to the other team when you can. It can get you the lead, set the tone, and place the other team on the defensive. Stay thirsty my friends...for aggressive winning baseball. I think we will see more of it under TLaR than we did with Rick Rentalria.
  13. This is a hard topic to discuss within the confines of the rules here so I'll pass other than to say I support the move for reasons that should be obvious for at least 52% of Americans.
  14. Ranting about Madrigal's throwing error (which caused TA to come off the base by about a foot) doesn't help Madrigal or the team. In fact it could be counterproductive (as I recall a similar situation became for Steve Sax years ago). The last bounce on the ground ball took Madrigal back toward first and skewed his throw to TA who was moving quickly across the bag. Oh well his throw was off the mark. He was also caught stealing, but that was also a close play. That's part of baseball - close plays and occasional errors. My overall impression from the game though was that the LAA seemed to have an equal or better line-up than our White Sox do, especially without Eloy. I would not be shocked if they swept us or win 3/4, not because the Sox aren't a good team but maybe the Angels are as good or even better. Once TLaR gets to see the relievers over several more games, I think he will adjust how he employs them. In hindsight, perhaps Kopech would have been better in the 8th than Bummer - (edited) and you bring in Liam your Closer to face Trout and the heart of the order even though it is the 8th..
  15. The Angels have a great line-up. I think the Sox would compare to some degree if Eloy was in there. Anyway, the Angels are a tough team to start the season against.
  16. Vaughn cannot play LF. That is why he won't be out there tonight.
  17. What about Collins? Would it also be silly to not have him hitting against a RH pitcher after the Spring he has had? Again, let's see how this works out and then discuss whether or not it was a decent move and what you would have done. This is going to be a long year here..
  18. Playing the Righty/Lefty match-ups is entirely legit and appropriate, especially considering that Collins has hit RH pitching pretty well. This might work tonight. If it does, will those who criticize the move by TLaR admit they were wrong?
  19. IMO.. Vaughn is short, slow, cannot throw, and has no experience playing left field. He should never be out there. Leury makes sense until Engel retiurns. He has speed., a strong arm, and can track fly balls. When Eloy returns he is the starting LFer. Telling Eloy he is stupid and because of that he is now relegated to DH is the last thing he needs to hear right now. He wants to prove he can play LF and wants to start. Forcing him to do what he doesn't want to do (full time DHing) could have a ripple effect.
