Steady defense in first Inning by Eloy and Abreu. Let's get a few runs to back up Cease.

The narrative about Eloy's injury has been exaggerated and promoted incessantly. His injury reaching over a fence was a freak, one-time accident in an unusual circumstance. So was his injury celebrating after a victory or one running the bases. You can add up the injuries that Grandal or other players have had and make a similar list. Anyway, he will play some games in Left Field so i guess some will be disappointed while others will wait until Eloy twists and ankle or bruises his knee and is out for a week so that they can say "I told you so." Me, I am glad he is back and can't wait to see him playing next to his friend and fellow countryman, Luis Robert. The two have a friendship and chemistry out there that is entertaining to watch.

Trea Turner
That is a good point. Indeed, sometimes a star player has a lot to say about where they play, or in the case of Eloy, don't play in the field. Trea though has played in the outfield for 80 major league games so it would not be a stretch. It's probably a moot point because people are psyched about Vaughn after his his current hitting streak. If he was in a mid-season slump he might be viewed as tradeable.

Trea Turner
I would not offer Vaughn but assuming arguendo you had a deal = Trea for Vaughn. You then acquire Escobar or another rental for the balance of 2021 to play. 2B. in 2022 you either sign Trea for a few years or let him go to arbitration, but he is on the roster. Trea has played many games in CF and is one of the leagues fastest players. So you potentially have 4-5 outfielders - Cespedes, Colas, Robert and Eloy and Trea Plus you have Madrigal back at second base. If Rodon can be extended you are virtually guaranteed another play-off appearance.

Trea Turner
The Nats waited too long to get equivalent value in any trade for Trea. Sox would pick up the balance of his '21 salary ($6.5 Mil.) plus a bucket of balls. OK, they can have ReyLo back....and Adam Eaton if they can find him.

ELOY back Monday against KC
The Sox have Colas and Cespedes coming as early as next season and maybe another option in the off-season or maybe even as soon as the trade deadline. Vaughn is like Kyle Schwarber was 5 years ago. Like Schwarber, Vaughn is gonna box out some and gain some muscle and weight...and get older and slower. I will bet money that he is the slowest player in the line-up right now, except when Lynn is hitting in NL games. How fast does Fangraphs have Vaughn in the 40 yard dash? I find it interesting that some people who do not go to many games and see these players perform on the field make judgments primarily relying on stats like Fangraphs. Go out and watch a few games and trust what you see for yourself, not what Steve Stone tells you.

ELOY back Monday against KC
Defensive stats be damned. Bottom line is that Vaughn is slow at 24 years old and is not going to get any faster or taller. He has a large torso and a pretty large shoe size.. Irrelevant if he is at 1B or DH. As far as injuries. Vaughn almost mowed down TA on two or three plays where he ran toward him with about 100 choppy steps to catch a short fly ball. Schwarber posed a similar risk when he used to play left for the Cubs. The question of whether Eloy is a long term solution in LF is a separate issue. Arguing that Eloy or Vaughn is better or worse than the other at defense is a pretty lame way to justify that either one belongs out there long term. The issue that does warrant conversation is who gets to play every day, Abreu, Eloy or Vaughn once the Sox have better options in the outfield. I'd be happy with Abreu at 1B at Eloy at DH.

For anyone who may have forgotten how good of a hitter Eloy has been:

Vaughn looking better on outside pitches and sliders. After watching him at several games from my LF section, I think he should only be 1B/DH but ?thers have their own opinions on that.

Who would you dream of the White Sox adding in trade this week, and what would you be willing to give up in exchange?
Buxton but is won't happen because the Twins would likely want too much in return, i.e., a star player like Vaughn or Madrigal plus a pitching prospect. I don't want to trade any decent prospects to the Cubs other than Burger and some second tier pitching prospects. Not sure that is going to get any of the big names discussed.

ELOY back Monday against KC
Eloy's judgment? You mean a 24 year old player that wants to make every effort to bring back a a home run? OK< it was pre-season, but that is what competitive athletes do - they compete. It could be a game of pick-up basketball in the alley, it doesn't always prevent a guy from trying to make a play. If you want to mock him for that, well go ahead. Never forget, White Sox fans claimed Avi Garcia was a lifetime DH after he was injured diving for a ball. Now AviG is a pretty valuable member of an NL team with no DH. I think Avi has something like 17 HR ... before today's game. Unfortunately, the Brew crew are tougher and Rowdier than I thought.

ELOY back Monday against KC
Saw the Eloy replays on the post game show. Eloy makes a great catch against the wall on one and then on a fly ball to shallow center, throws out a guy trying to score from third. Nice. Now I would like to see if he still has the bat speed and power he had. Could not tell much from the short Robert video other than he looked like he was doing the right thing by easing into the rehab. Anyway, it was good to see the two friends out there together playing again..

The rules can be interpreted liberally i guess, but that did not look like every other appealed ruling I have seen. Anyway, It looked like that was an unusual and untimely appeal. So the pitching coach goes out to the mound , talks to the pitcher, the pitcher then gets ready to throw a pitch and the catcher goes, hold on a minute... In contrast to knowing the rules versus not knowing them, this was more about knowing how to abuse the rules. Tony is a HOF Manager who has a law degree and decades of experience. I think he knows about how this game should be played and how the rules should be interpreted fairly.

That was BenO's point. Why risk trying to go back and touch the plate even if you thought you missed it after you have been called safe? The ump's call has finality when he signifies a run has been scored, unlike a call at one of the other bases. A safe call at home, the runner heads into the dugout.

Yoan is not stupid. He thought he hit the plate or possibly he knew he missed it. If it was the latter, perhaps he thought he might get tagged out when he went back to tag it. Then seeing the ump call you safe, why try to go back and risk getting tagged out ? I'm getting tired of fans calling Yoan lazy and stupid and Eloy stupid and crazy. They are just young men playing baseball. Cut it the fvk out with calling them stupid.
