I love watching this but realize that we are playing a demoralized team that is out of contention with a pitching staff that is a shit show.

I agree, Vaughn could be an everyday DH/1B or OF even after Eloy and Eaton return. He has had a couple of good games against RH pitchers, but guys like Ober are not what the Sox will see the rest of the way. Ober was pretty awful and the Sox made the Twins pay.

If/when the decision comes down to whether Eloy or Vaughn is a platoon player, perhaps your answer will be different.

The Twins are toast, no matter who wins this afternoon. Their pitching is not good enough to get them on a sustained wining streak. That means they will be sellers looking to dump salary. If they could unload Donaldson's contract he would be one of the first to go.

That was my take as well. I could see a LH bat like Sheets platoon with Vaughn at DH. Collins has been better than expected but maybe the Sox want a better LH hitter than Collins to put in the line-up vs RH starters.

I'm very happy to see Kopech back. He could really help us win some of these close games that our pen has been blowing.

Fans whining about ownership not spending enough money is pretty lame. I see Cub fans questioning Joe Ricketts about why he didn't sign Schwarber for 9 Million. Ownership takes many things into consideration when signing players to big contracts. They don't just keep spending and spending to satisfy the hunger of rabid fans.

Maybe hold your horses and see how the next few weeks pans out. the Sox should be able to play ,500 + baseball against the Twins and Detroit and make it to the All Star break in pretty good shape. At that point more players will be available from teams that throw in the towel.

Little Cespy should be moved up a notch in the Minors based on his first few games. Maybe he eventually gets to the major league club later this year. Eloy/Robert/Cespy outfield.

Obviously we need to score a lot of runs to beat the Twins who can really hit the ball. I hope Sheets or Yermin can pop a 3 run homer. How about a blowout win for a change? A two run lead into the 9th no longer seems that comfortable.
