  1. Not sure why Acuna would be cut instead of Jacob Gonzalez when Mune comes back...although I have no issue with cutting Acuna if/when another infielder comes up. I guess I have not seen enough of Jacob Gonzalez at any position other than 1st base. Just from seeing him at a few games and on TV. he looks like a big dude that handles 1B pretty well, but maybe , I am guessing, doesn't have the quickness and range that Acuna has to play SS or 2B. JMHO..
  2. Facts? The Sox won the World Series in 2005. Six NBA World Championships. The Cubs have only one one World series over the last 100 years or so. Inconvenient truth for Sox trolls or those with Reinsdorf derangement syndrome.
  3. Pound the Tigers on Sunday and come back home with, hopefully, Teel coming up to catch soon. Terrible pitching yesterday (Eisert) and today (Rock). Sox could never get momentum going. Detroit is playing with urgency to prevent a lost season, and the Sox are coasting right now. Maybe a motivational clubhouse talk before tomorrow's game should be in order. Venable doesn't seem to have the pizz and vinegar flowing in his veins to do that, but I don't know, maybe he does...or invite Ozzie down there for a little guest appearance. Let's go. Now.
  4. It has taken decades, yes even longer than '05 or '90 or '83 or '77 to put together a group of young, upcoming position p,layers that are as cohesive and solid as the 2006 White Sox. Now it is only a matter of keeping this group together. They are only going to get better.
  5. You are much smarter that Reinsdorf, right? Uh no you're not.
  6. I would not be surprised if Venable or Getz address Vasil's clown act in the dugout. Vasil crossed a line when he exchanged words with Skubal. Not sure how they might handle Vasil but maybe they would consider continuing his free travel with the team but restrict him to the bullpen during games. Meanwhile, the guy is just making a jackass of himself.
  7. Vasil is making a fool out of himself by acting like a clown. Instead, he needs to act like a player, in his case a pitcher, and maybe station himself in the dugout to watch the game and help relievers.
  8. OK , I'll play the blame game. First as to Peters dive to try to catch a line drive ... a catch that could have helped end the inning and win the game. A low line drive directly at a CF is the hardest ball to judge in terms of its trajectory. Peters has caught line drives like that one, including another one in that game. He was going full speed to try to catch the line drive. I don't blame him, but if anyone wants to, go ahead. In my eyes, he went for it to try to win the game. Once he committed, he could not stop and catch the ball on a bounce. The guy is a gamer. Don't blame him for that. Second, who lost the game ? Eisert. He could not even get through an inning without giving up the lead. And further, who decided to go with Eisert to open? Any blame for that. Yes, the blame game can be brutal when you lose. Just look ahead and hope the Sox win a game or two in the series.
  9. Not sure what Acuna has to do with Mune coming back. Gonzo likely goes back to the Minors when Mune returns. I thought Jacob could be the LH DH, but Benny has taken over that role with his recent clutch hitting and power. Gonzo could be back though. He is a good player.
  10. Sox LH oriented lineup kills RH pitching but some of our hitters are vulnerable to LH starters. Could be a rough game tonight against Skubal. I agree about Acuna though. That flyball he botched into a double yesterday was a joke. He is a net negative for the team. DFA.
  11. I like the Sox infield - a group with superb skills at their respective positions. Each player fits perfectly into the line-up.
  12. Venable has made due with a less than ideal rotation thus far. Employing an Opener has helped. Also Will keeps a short leash on pitchers to try to keep games within striking distance. Also, let's not discount the importance of the White Sox come-back offense that keeps (most*) relievers focused and competitive. There is a synergy there. *Seranthony is the exception.
  13. When we were kids we loved going to some of the local parks in Chicago to watch men's softball. Many of the players were firemen, police or tradesmen - big dudes with big biceps and beer bellies that could spank the sh1t out of the Clincher. Watching this Sox team could end up like watching softball - see who can out swat the other team. This year's rotation is, as WhiteSox 2023 described them in his own inimitable way at the beginning of the season, is "ass." Fedde, Kay, Davis, Burke are probably one of the worst WSox rotations I can recall. That's too bad because our position players are the best we have had (as a group) since 2005. They deserve better but I don't see that happening this season. Minor league call-ups? Trades? Just can't see it.
  14. You pimped Gonzo before we even had a final report on Mune's injury. Jacob has been adequate, but looked lost yesterday. If the game was close, he would have lost it on two plays he should have made.
  15. 77 Hitmen: You said that the first thing Ishbia should do is to fire everyone in the White Sox organization (your words) when he gets majority ownership. Do you still feel that way? Everyone??...Getz, Venable, all coaches, scouts, minor league personnel.,,,how about Gene Honda, Sod father, lol? JR went down to Springfield with and at the behest of Related Development (developers of Auchi's 78 parcel). He did not go down on his own accord to actively seek a new stadium for the obvious reason that he will no longer be Chairman in 10-20 years when the White Sox might need a new stadium. A possible new stadium in the distant future is Ishbia's business, not Reinsdorfs. Instead, JR is all about running the organization now and winning while he is still the Chair. Oh yea, and making big money because he is "greedy" unlike Ishbia (rotflmfao). Naw, Ishbia is more like Warren Buffet ...uh no. Once a realistic, sensible plan is proposed by Ishbia (and we have not seen one yet) , Sox fans should be able to chime in. After all this is their team in their City. Until then Ramble on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGNRFX62Ujc&list=RDGGNRFX62Ujc&start_radio=1
  16. I agree Ron. Not sure how serious the impingement is but Fegan's report - two weeks of rest before throwing and another 2 weeks before returning to games seems like it could be something relatively minor, but without having additional info or knowledge about that condition, any projection about when he might return is not useful. Getz and his team will just have to focus that much harder now to acquire pitching.
  17. JR has zero interest in a new stadium. He wants this team to win and the franchise to be successful. That is his focus and so far this season, he has to be very pleased.
  18. Wrong again. This had nothing to do with Jerry Reinsdorf. You are just repeating a juvenile meme that always lands with a certain group.
  19. This is Jerry's team. You are either for him or against him. Against? OK. The buck stops with him and his ball club is winning. That is an inconvenient truth some are having a hard time dealing with. Oh well.
  20. Advanced stats strike me as meaningless when evaluating a gamer like Antonacci or Chase. There is so much more to these players than stats could reveal. To evaluate talent you have to watch the games. And I cringe at the superfluous "non-white" comment.
  21. Shane Smith is the last thing a winning team needs in their rotation. Sox need another top of rotation starter in order to win, not a salvage project.
  22. JR finally had the sense and courage to show Hahn and KW the door and hire Getz. That is why this team is where it is at now. Great support from ownership (signing Mune), talent evaluation, player promotions from the Minors, and prescient trades.
  23. I concur and that is why I,for one, am not projecting Roch to replace any of the current Sox infielders when he eventually gets taken in the Draft and promoted to the majors. As Len Kasper exclaimed after the 6th inning during today's radio broadcast "This Team !..." We have one of the best over all infields I can recall on either side of town in decades. Keep these guys and "this team" together. Sprinkle in some pitching and they can get to the play-offs and maybe compete. And please, stop whining that Chase lacks power. Power hitting is only a small part of his game, a game that more often than not excels and exceeds expectations. I share Len Kasper's excitement about this team. They have already provided us with a lot of entertaining games.
  24. Peter's blast was a morale booster for a team that has already shown that it has a never say die attitude. Never, never surrender an at-bat for any reason including handing a pitcher a no-hitter. Give Peters credit. That at-bat took some gorliones. He squared up a 99 mph fastball and deposited it in the seats. Boom ba-boom boom boom, cancel the post-game show and see them on Sunday.
