Breaking News: ron883 totally vindicated - Braden Montgomery gets called up
Some of us here opined that it was too early to bring up Braden for a number of reasons (like his tendency to hit ground balls). Oh did he prove that wrong with a single, two doubles and a memorable walk-off home run. Ron was right but beyond that, let's not understate or minimize the significance of this. For those of us that recall, the White Sox have been seeking a solid RFer with hitting prowess and defensive skills to play RF....since Jermaine Dye. Now we finally got our guy. Braden is a switch hitter who can hit from both sides with power, including to the opposite fields. This kid is a beast in the positive sense of the word and adds to an already surprisingly good offense.

6/11 GT - White Sox vs. Braves (6:40pm)
Ohhh a little shot across the bow. LOL. No problem. I somewhat empathized with your complaint about the cheap seats in the 500 level. None of my friends ever sit up there. I suggest getting better seats if you ever plan on returning. Also maybe familiarize yourself with the residential areas to the East of the stadium, the IIT campus/neighborhood, and note the train access at the Sox 35th street station before hardening your opinions further. So yes, please come back and attend a game this season by any mode of transportation available to you. I was going to go tonight but cancelled any plans earlier because of the forecast.

The platoon game against a starting pitcher is fine, but that strategy gets blown up after the starting pitcher is replaced and the opposing Manager counters it. It's a big game within the game.

Derek Hill to Phillies, Pereira reinstated
Periera makes sense in order to provide a platoon in CF or (L)F for more RH oomph against LH starters. Romo goes when Teel comes up in a few weeks. Gonzo back down when Mune comes up unless Getz finds a trade partner for Bennintendi.

White Sox - Injury Tracker
Yes indeed. Admittedly, I have called for Acuna to be DFAed for weeks, but now I am like, "hold on a minute..." Acuna has value as a back-up in the IF and OF, has speed, and even showed he could have a competitive AB vs Sale. So reconsidering, I think he stays for now. Hill and Grichuk have proven roles and probably aren't going anywhere. Tristan Peters is not going to hit .300 forever but he is going to have a decent OBP and has played gold glove CF. Braden is now our RF. So who goes if the Sox want to bring up Periera and do the Sox even need him?

To buy or sell...
Once the roster has finally been assembled with Teel and Mune, this team could conceivably make a run in the playoffs ... provided that the rotation and bullpen will be fortified. Things can come together quickly with a few prescient moves by the front office, from JR down. They need to be in it ($) to win it.

Davis has to be careful not to hang that curveball.

I would have preferred Romo , but yea, Quero was a rally killer at clean-up.

How is Sam doing after the 100mph HBP? .

Ronald Acuna may have simply had a cramp but based on a Grade 1 hamstring injury he suffered earlier this season, I would not be surprised if he re injured it. As Sox fans we have become all too familiar with an initial diagnosis of "hamstring tightness."

As far as I could tell it looked like the HR hit in the bullpen on the fly.

After Braden throws out the first guy trying to stretch a single into a double they can cue up Aerosmith "(Braden's got a gun). "- 6/9 GT - White Sox vs. Braves (6:40 CST)
Hope it rains...just kidding. Have a good time !- Breaking News: ron883 totally vindicated - Braden Montgomery gets called up
The biggest hole in the bottom of the line-up is not with the RFer but at catcher. Not sure how long that Teel's rehab is going to take but it is maddening to see so many ABs given away by Romo and Quero. They have both run into one here and there, but more often than not, they kill rallies.- Breaking News: ron883 totally vindicated - Braden Montgomery gets called up
Cauli: I watched Sandelin's stuff and his fast ball seemed pretty good (up to 98mph) but his off-speed pitches, particularly his curve ball seemed to lack a little of the bite that it had in his debut. Perhaps the humidity had something to do with that, I don't know..Do you think that his pitch selection could also have been an issue? I thought that when he got torched on a high outside fastball that Marchon seemed too ready for. Maybe Teel will have a better feel for calling a game than Romo or Edgar.- Breaking News: ron883 totally vindicated - Braden Montgomery gets called up
I didn't realize it but Jacob is a pretty large player compared to our other second basemen. He's built like a 1B/DH. When Gonzalez was promoted to fill in for Mune, Venable stated that he was not going to alter the infield configuration beyond what was required. I think he made a good decision. Gonzalez has done a great job defensively and has shown some discipline at the plate and of course that HR power. I still miss Mune though..- 6/7/2026 - Sox @ Phils, rubber match, 12:35 pm CDT - Gilbert/Sandlin v. Nola
"Peters is going to post the highest BABIP in baseball over the past six years, especially given his minor league profile, then you aren’t a serious poster. " Makes no sense. I am fine with Peters in every way moving forward, and he has been durable. " In the future, please keep your little pout fests in the 78 thread." Sounds like a cheap threat but I'm not intimidated. I will post when I feel I am adding something of value, like I did recently on the "78 thread" by posting about Phillip Bess' 1987 "Bill Veeck Park" plan for the 78. I also suggested a possible alternate site on the NE corner of 18th and Canal. I have questioned the use of the Airline Bridge for pedestrian traffic, but that was based on facts. Meanwhile, what have you added to that thread ? Not one thing. I am not a "dinosaur" but I reject the content and tone of your responses to me. Maybe put me on your ignore list. You seem quite angry and irrational.- 6/7/2026 - Sox @ Phils, rubber match, 12:35 pm CDT - Gilbert/Sandlin v. Nola
