My guess at this point would be Cubs and Detroit in the WS. Probably the two best teams IMO.
  2. Not be surprised if Civale doesn't last 2 innings. Bombs away.
  3. Agree. Colson Montgomery can stay in the Minors 5 more years and it won't make him any better. This will be his one shot (referencing Eminem) to prove his critics wrong. At least they won't have him face elite pitchers like Baldwin did in his last two call ups.
  4. Maybe lower the mound ? I don't know...maybe I am just frustrated that the Sox have not been hitting.
  5. I was wrong about Sosa's bat being enough to keep him at second base (even though his 1st inning shot was inches away from being a 3 run homer). He is just too big, clumsy and slow to play second. Maybe 1st base would be the best position for him since it requires limited range. What a dismal, depressing loss all around though. Foolish decisions by players and coaches and as always the worst luck in the world for the Sox.
  6. Not sure where you walked past it or why. There are few reasons to be down there walking around and it is not one of the safest areas at night. There is a site plan for the Fire stadium at the 78. Spend a little time and study it since you claim to be familiar with the area. Note the limited access from elevated roads, the obstruction of the Clark street ramp, the way the Metra tracks cut off road access, etc. After looking at that plan, I would not be surprised if the Fire buck out of that site just like others have.
  7. I am sure he will take the promotion but Dodger pitching will be a tough initiation.
  8. There is no issue about what could be done. There is an issue about why one would move to that site...but you would have to go down there and look to see it for yourself. Look at the site plan for the proposed Fire stadium closely. The architectural firm attempted to address issues like the differences in elevation with Roosevelt and Clark, the Metra tracks, and access to the site. What do you think about that plan? What do you like or dislike about it, specifically? Would you like the WSox to build there? Why?
  9. I hope the best for Brook. I'm rooting for him.
  10. Do your own due diligence. Start by visiting the site to gain a rational perspective.
  11. Harold: The topic keeps being regurgitated here, and often by those who, through no fault of their own, do not seem to be familiar with the area, including some views that are never published by the promoters. Thus the Google map view I posted. Look at the elevations of Roosevelt and Clark street with respect to this thing and the seldom shown railroad boneyard to the East. This thing looks like it is in a hole from surrounding streets, and it is. As long as Auchi pays his development co. to promote the hell out of this nonsense, there has to be some push back.
  12. I have been a fan of Vargas at 3B and Lenyn Sosa at 2B almost every game, for a while. I'm OK with Lenyn's sub par defense because he hits the ball hard and has plus arm strength for double plays. Please no Colson Montgomery, IMO.
  13. You have to go down to the so-called "78" site to gain some of your own perspective and be able to call some of the heavy marketing of this site into question. https://maps.app.goo.gl/RYj6NALe9WjFz2MC9
  14. Taylor has classic Closer stuff. The other thing is, why have a 100mph+ pitcher start games and potentially burn out with so many innings instead of focusing on Closing ? I made this argument with Kopech years ago.
  15. One way to cut down on so many close losses in the 8th and 9th innings is to have a legitimate Closer. Too early to tell right now but the Sox might have found one. The pitch sequence to Devers including the change-up for strike 3 was special.
  16. My opinion is that Plaintiff's case should have been dismissed on a Motion. There is no set of provable or even plausible facts that would create liability for the White Sox. Never forget, the burden is on <Plaintiff> to prove her case, not the White Sox ....or me, lol. As far as the animosity toward Chicago public school teachers I have an idea where that comes from but I'll let you explain that.
  17. That is a bizarre theory for what may have happened. No one saw a gun and no weapon was seen by fans, captured on video, or recovered. Skin and fat do not impact metal detectors. Just ask anyone who had joint replacement and tried going through one.
  18. I admire creativity and forward thinking from those who can think outside the box. Imagine that kind of stadium located somewhere down the shore of Lake Michigan with a view of the lake. Ishbia has the resources and proven expertise as demonstrated from his recent dealings in Winnetka where he swapped private property for Lake Michigan beachfront. Imagine if he and the ISFA swapped all GRate land for some area near or around the 31st beach or something like that. Game changer in the Chicago sports market. Creative and beautiful, not a hole next to the Cal sag canal bordered by the Lumber st. railroad boneyard elevated streets and the Metra tracks.
  19. Part of the reported agreement between Reinsdorf and Ishbia was that Ishbia is free to invest in the team starting this year... so I don't know why he is waiting. He is basically the defacto owner with Reindorf serving a lame duck term as the putative head of the organization. Time for Ishbia to stand up and start taking responsibility now. Why let this thing deteriorate before your eyes ?
  20. In a video first posted on TikTok, the Arizona manager was seen angrily pointing out the fan who allegedly had been taunting Ketel Marte about his late mother .... During the clip .. Lovullo is seen yelling at the fan before gesturing towards security to have him thrown out. “Dumb f***,” Lovullo appears to say in video. “His mom died, you dumb f***. Dumb f***.” Lovullo could have ignored the fan but instead chose to escalate the taunt by himself injecting the fact that Marte's mother died. This is no defense for the fan's behavior but at the same time the Manager made a larger deal out of this than it needed to be. Finally, I feel sorry for all of us that have had parents and loved ones die including Ketel's mom, but he is a professional and maybe could have handled this better (i.e., giving the fan the finger or just ignoring him and playing the game).
  21. Venable has terrible management instincts and a surprising lack of judgment. The Sox draw a nice crowd on a a Beautiful Friday night so without Robert Jr. , he plays MAT in C and Noda in RF. Soxtalk posters were laughing at that line-up before the game started.
  22. The heckler actually knew that Ketel's mother died in an auto accident ... in 2017 ? Any way you slice it, the ejection was justified but it seems weird that this fan would have even known about what happened back then. I'm proud of the White Sox for dealing with this situation as they did.
  23. The 78 has been proposed for an open air soccer stadium. Several decisions have been made by the architects/land planners as can be seen below. Note how there is almost no vehicular or pedestrian access to the East save for Roosevelt Rd. which is +20 ft. or so in elevation along the North end.
  24. Unfortunately race is still something that impacts opinions, perceptions, and attitudes in this country and in baseball long after Jackie Robinson came into the game. Deny that if you wish but it's reality. My own opinion of the criticism of this young man is that it often exposes more about those who engage in it than it does about the broadcaster. Schriff will never be "competent" enough for some people who are looking for someone else they can probably relate to more.
