Venable has made due with a less than ideal rotation thus far. Employing an Opener has helped. Also Will keeps a short leash on pitchers to try to keep games within striking distance. Also, let's not discount the importance of the White Sox come-back offense that keeps (most*) relievers focused and competitive. There is a synergy there. *Seranthony is the exception.

When we were kids we loved going to some of the local parks in Chicago to watch men's softball. Many of the players were firemen, police or tradesmen - big dudes with big biceps and beer bellies that could spank the sh1t out of the Clincher. Watching this Sox team could end up like watching softball - see who can out swat the other team. This year's rotation is, as WhiteSox 2023 described them in his own inimitable way at the beginning of the season, is "ass." Fedde, Kay, Davis, Burke are probably one of the worst WSox rotations I can recall. That's too bad because our position players are the best we have had (as a group) since 2005. They deserve better but I don't see that happening this season. Minor league call-ups? Trades? Just can't see it.

Not sure how serious the impingement is but Fegan's report - two weeks of rest before throwing and another 2 weeks before returning to games seems like it could be something relatively minor, but without having additional info or knowledge about that condition, any projection about when he might return is not useful. Getz and his team will just have to focus that much harder now to acquire pitching.

Advanced stats strike me as meaningless when evaluating a gamer like Antonacci or Chase. There is so much more to these players than stats could reveal. To evaluate talent you have to watch the games. And I cringe at the superfluous "non-white" comment.

Shane Smith is the last thing a winning team needs in their rotation. Sox need another top of rotation starter in order to win, not a salvage project.

JR finally had the sense and courage to show Hahn and KW the door and hire Getz. That is why this team is where it is at now. Great support from ownership (signing Mune), talent evaluation, player promotions from the Minors, and prescient trades.

I concur and that is why I,for one, am not projecting Roch to replace any of the current Sox infielders when he eventually gets taken in the Draft and promoted to the majors. As Len Kasper exclaimed after the 6th inning during today's radio broadcast "This Team !..." We have one of the best over all infields I can recall on either side of town in decades. Keep these guys and "this team" together. Sprinkle in some pitching and they can get to the play-offs and maybe compete. And please, stop whining that Chase lacks power. Power hitting is only a small part of his game, a game that more often than not excels and exceeds expectations. I share Len Kasper's excitement about this team. They have already provided us with a lot of entertaining games.

Peter's blast was a morale booster for a team that has already shown that it has a never say die attitude. Never, never surrender an at-bat for any reason including handing a pitcher a no-hitter. Give Peters credit. That at-bat took some gorliones. He squared up a 99 mph fastball and deposited it in the seats. Boom ba-boom boom boom, cancel the post-game show and see them on Sunday.

Talent recognition. Getz, Jerry and Venable supported a virtually unrecognized player from the Savannah Bananas and put him on the Opening Day roster. Peters see's it and often hits it hard. Tristan struck that ball in anger and with purpose..he killt it. That one swing may have turned the momentum around at least a little by preventing LA celebrating a no-no on the field. It would be great to take 2/3, but I am OK with 1/3 and look forward to when Teel and Mune are in the line-up. That will make the line-up that much more formidable, especially against RHers.

Sasaki struck out 10 in his last start. Hopefully Sox hitters will be patient, wear him down, and get to the bullpen. I wish Mune could face him. That would be an interesting match-up worth the price of admission.

Gram Parsons was truly at the forefront of country-rock. A great voice and talent tragically cut short at a young age like so many other musicians of that era. The lip-sync video though is cringe-worthy and was produced without the original band. Thanks for posting it though.

Ishbia has his hands full trying to figure out how to relocate railroad tracks and repurpose a railroad bridge to get pedestrians over the canal. If that takes a while, the Sox may extend the lease. Meanwhile the 2026 White Sox are still Jerry's team.

Some of us here opined that it was too early to bring up Braden for a number of reasons (like his tendency to hit ground balls). Oh did he prove that wrong with a single, two doubles and a memorable walk-off home run. Ron was right but beyond that, let's not understate or minimize the significance of this. For those of us that recall, the White Sox have been seeking a solid RFer with hitting prowess and defensive skills to play RF....since Jermaine Dye. Now we finally got our guy. Braden is a switch hitter who can hit from both sides with power, including to the opposite fields. This kid is a beast in the positive sense of the word and adds to an already surprisingly good offense.

I suggest getting better seats if you ever plan on returning. Also maybe familiarize yourself with the residential areas to the East of the stadium, the IIT campus/neighborhood, and note the train access at the Sox 35th street station before hardening your opinions further. The platoon game against a starting pitcher is fine, but that strategy gets blown up after the starting pitcher is replaced and the opposing Manager counters it. It's a big game within the game.

Periera makes sense in order to provide a platoon in CF or (L)F for more RH oomph against LH starters. Romo goes when Teel comes up in a few weeks. Gonzo back down when Mune comes up unless Getz finds a trade partner for Bennintendi.

Yes indeed. Admittedly, I have called for Acuna to be DFAed for weeks, but now I am like, "hold on a minute..." Acuna has value as a back-up in the IF and OF, has speed, and even showed he could have a competitive AB vs Sale. So reconsidering, I think he stays for now. Hill and Grichuk have proven roles and probably aren't going anywhere. Tristan Peters is not going to hit .300 forever but he is going to have a decent OBP and has played gold glove CF. Braden is now our RF. So who goes if the Sox want to bring up Periera and do the Sox even need him?

Once the roster has finally been assembled with Teel and Mune, this team could conceivably make a run in the playoffs ... provided that the rotation and bullpen will be fortified. Things can come together quickly with a few prescient moves by the front office, from JR down. They need to be in it ($) to win it.
