  1. I agree with you sentiments in general with respect to anonymous posters, but not about the TLR post. IMO, that was beyond being in poor taste.
  2. The Sox have 5 very capable starters and, in large measure, that has kept this team in enough games to have the record they have. You need five horsemen pulling the chariot to stay in the race. Given that, try to sign Rodon and Lynn.and otherwise fortify the pitching staff as much as possible during the off-season. Look North a few miles to see a franchise that let a few veteran pitchers go but did not have a good plan to replace them. Now Wilson Contreras set off a circular firing squad in the clubhouse but meanwhile, the blame belongs squarely on the Ricketts and their hiring of a General Manager who could not defy the Peter principle. Now I don't care about the cubs and kind of enjoy witnessing their implosion, but sometimes it is wise to pay some attention to losers in order to avoid their mistakes.
  3. The quality of the video was not good. Let's wait to see more but yes, he did not look good in the video.
  4. He looked so athletic when he played back in that Futures game. .. That was then.. Eloy promised he would improve defensively and from the current videos it doesn't look like he even kept himself in decent condition. I'll be pretty disappointed if that proves to be the case.
  5. Eloy looked out of condition in those videos unless it was just the camera lens and angle.
  6. in my opinion, Kopech is the best pitcher in our bullpen, not Hendriks. If he is not available out of the bullpen the Sox are going to lose a lot of games after the 6th Perhaps scouting reports on Hendriks may have made him more predictable and hit-able this season. Crochet and Heuer are the only other relievers I have confidence will help hold leads in the second half of the season. For me, improving the bullpen and adding a starting catcher are the highest priority for trade acquisitions. Yadi would be a great match for this team
  7. Kopech would make a better and classier Closer than the Vulgarian. I wish the Sox never signed Hendriks.
  8. Sometimes people learn from their mistakes. Eloy will be given the opportunity to do that because he has earned that right. Eloy is a better athlete than Vaughn, much faster, taller and with more reach. Sox coaches Super Joe and Boston should set some parameters for how he plays in the outfield. Play deep and keep everything in front of you, like Vaughn does, and let short fly balls not easily caught fall in for singles...like Vaughn does. Then hit 40 HR / year and everything will work out alright.
  9. Vaughn just jumped 2" off the ground to catch a fly ball that did not require jumping. Great play, right?
  10. I just watched Vaughn play another sure fly ball out into a bloop single. He is too slow to play anything but first base. Same with Sheets. Burger can play 3B but he is blocked by Moncada. Unless you become infatuated with a player as a fan, you realize that any player can be traded for the right return. Personally, I would not turn down Rutschman for Vaughn, Collins and Sheets and I am sure there are trades others would agree to.
  11. "In order to be on the field, in order to be great, you have to be durable. Eloy has not proven that he's durable at all, and a lot of the injuries have not been of the particularly smart areas. " Other very good players have had multiple injuries including Grandal, Moncada, Robert, Engel, Burger. Not many of them can honestly be characterized as "durable." It seems like Eloy has a lot to prove about his defense when he comes back. He has been subject to a lot of negativity since cub fans started a narrative that Eloy isn't that good. Well he isn't gold glove but if he stays within himself and eliminates diving for balls, he will be fine out there.
  12. Stone is old school like TLaR is...you know, players have to do as told by the Manager for the good of the team, not play where they want or blow off a take sign and swing when they want. Anyway, Eloy has a say because he is one of the best bats in the American League. He is not going to a a full time DH at 24 years old. If I was his agent there is no way that happens.
  13. HOF manager of a first place team on the South side. Meanwhile, Cubs are in shambles. Life is good.
  14. Big Keuch is not my favorite starter, but against the O's he should be fine. TLaR should let him pitch 9 if he wants to.
  15. I wonder if trainers like ptatc would temper expectations for a rehab timetable based on anticipated stress and strain , i.e., a knee injury for a catcher who couches down and stands up 100+ times each game.
  16. Sox are going to update timeline for Grandal's recovery now that surgery has been performed.
  17. Twins, Tigers, KC and the Indians will continue to tank in the second half. Sano's swing looked slow and tired. Nelson Cruz looked like he wants to retire. Same with Miggy when we played the Tigers. Donaldson made himself into a whining b****. We could win this division by 15-20 games. Maybe it will look like our second half of the season in 1983.
  18. When our starters hold teams to one or two runs through 6, almost any line-up has a chance to win. That has been the key to the 2021 White Sox and that was the key for the 2005 White Sox. Hopefully, Kopech can play the role that El Duque did against Boston in 2005.
  19. That is the hope and for me, kind of an expectation. Kopech would be a huge addition to this bullpen.
  20. I like the positives expressed by Steve and Jason, and may kudos are in order, including to management, but to keep things in perspective, Minnesota is a team that looks like and plays like they have been defeated. We need to beat teams like Houston that recently swept us 4 games, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Boston..
  21. You claimed that Eloy would solely be used as the DH moving forward in his career. No one here said that he would never be used as a DH as he rehabilitates from injury and works his way back into the line-up. You are trolling now by seeking to ruffle feathers with a half-truth.
