  1. Hinch goes to the pen for a LHer in the third. LOL.
  2. Please do NOT hit into a DP . We need at least one more run here.
  3. I agree with Keuchel on this and have mentioned it here a few times before Keuchel made the point. . Unfortunately, Vaughn does not have the speed to do anything else but others in general should play at a shallower depth.
  4. Eloy is not going to be a full-time DH. It doesn't matter what fans think about that or even what Tony wants. The reason is simple - Eloy will not agree to it and neither would his agent. They are not going to allow his current and future value to be diminished by becoming a player without a defensive position. Guys who are just coming into the league and are trying to establish themselves are different - they will gladly accept any role to stay in the league. So pencil in Eloy or even Abreu at DH all you want but that isn't going to happen, at least not until and unless they agree to it.
  5. Having said that, I have also complained about our outfielders, particularly Vaughn, positioning themselves too deep in order to avoid having to come in and make tough plays or to avoid having to to try and catch balls hit much deeper than where they are positioned.
  6. I agree with Ozzie. I wish the Sox never signed Keuchel. Like he said during the Houston series, he still feels like Houston is home for him. Please try to send him home (to the Astros) in a trade. He was part of the cheating that was going on in the sense he knew about it and said nothinmg. Worse yet, he now acts as an apologist for the Astros players , Manager and others who knew about it. Fvk Keuchel. By the way, I also thought Trevor Bauer was an @hole (but fir different reasons) and was hoping the Sox would not sign him during the off-season. I ended up being right about that one and as it turned out, Bauer is more of a creep than I even imagined.
  7. Especially if they make a trade. Vaughn looks like the primary trade target for teams that are talking to Hahn right now. Vaughn has raked against Minnesota and Detroit pitching which has peaked interest in him from other teams. The Sox desperately need middle relievers if they are going to win close play-off games. Marshall, Heuer, Bummer, Crochet can , at times, be a shit show. Kopech will greatly help, if he stays healthy. Even then, we still need at least one more set-up guy or even another Closer type. I love what Sheets has done so far. He clearly has power, sees the ball pretty well, and can cover the outside of the plate. I hope the Sox keep him in case he turns into a monster LH bat, which is what the Sox look for every off--season. We may have that guy right now. Maybe he can even play RF like Vaughn plays Left - put your heels a few feet in front of the warning track so almost everything that gets hit is in front of you.
  8. Generally, I agree with you although I do not share your levity or use of sarcasm. Vaughn should get starts at first base this season, if for no other reason than to to provide rest to Abreu. That will also make way for Eloy's return, who , like it or not, will get several starting assignments in the outfield. Over time, Abreu will transition into a Nelson Cruz DH / elder statesman and Vaughn will become the every day WSox First basemen. That appears to be the WSox plan and one of the reasons they Drafted him.
  9. Vaughn is what, 23 years old? He has been a first basemen his entire career before being cast into LF. He can catch a fly ball but he is slow and as he ages, will only get slower. His defense has been seriously overrated. Don't lose sight of the fact that Vaughn is the heir apparent to Abreu (who is 11 years his senior) at first base. I agree that you don't need to be that good to play LF, which is why he is out there now.
  10. You are drinking Steve Stone Koolaid if you think Vaughn is going to be a career outfielder.
  11. Vaughn needs to get some starts at first base, his eventual every day position.
  12. Me too. My own view is that AV has been over-rated and over-hyped as an outfielder. Vaughn plays deep, a conservative defensive position that allows him to see everything in front of him while not having to play too many balls hit between him and the outfield wall. Because he plays deep, he only has to back pedal a few steps before the wall. Once again yesterday he jumped to catch a routine fly ball far short of the wall after which Benetti/Stone complimented the catch like they just saw Willy Mays famous over the shoulder catch. Is he a better OF than Eloy? Maybe, but Eloy is taller and faster than Vaughn and probably makes plays on balls that Vaughn could not get to. Perhaps Eloy should learn a few lessons from Vaughn about playing LF - play deep to avoid running into the outfield wall, , allow balls to drop in front of you instead of diving for them, and never risk life and limb to catch a fly ball.
  13. OMG, parents are even getting a nod. This is really a feel good time for WSox fans.
  14. Vaughn and a few other guys have had some good games against the Twins and Tigers RH pitching. I love it, but let's wait to see if they can sustain this against better teams and pitching.
  15. Good idea. They could also forget a trade, put Eloy in LF, Vaughn in RF, Robert CF, Abreu at 1B, and DH Sheets. Hard to go wrong as long as they are all hitting.
  16. Eloy is pretty much going to play where he wants whether it is with the White Sox or another team. Same for Vaughn and for Abreu. The Sox have some decisions to make in the future about who plays where and for how often. Now we have Sheets who is looking like the LH bat we have been looking for and Eaton is back from the IL.
  17. Detroit relievers making our boys look like the '27 Yankees.
  18. Burger looks like he is in so much better condition than when he got injured.
  19. Beat the shit teams....best the shit out of them. A win is a win.
  20. What is the rule? Does the ump have to allow a challenge in the 8th or is it discretionary?
  21. Somebody in the Sox video room is going to hear about that one.
