  1. But will these fair weather fans who say they won't attend games spend less time whining on this forum ?
  2. With TA out, we have Mendick, Harrison and Leury covering infield positions. Yes, it is obvious that has become problematic but don't assume that Hahn does not recognize that and will not deal with it. I expect that Hahn will make a move to address this before TA returns.
  3. Leury is a utility player that is in the line-up because of anjury to TA and under-performance of Josh Harrison, , not because of some imagined personality trait .
  4. It seems like every Sox loss is followed by hyperbolic criticisms of TLR, Hahn, JR and suggestions that the franchise be sold or moved out of Chicago. Some even threaten to become Cub fans. Oh my. I find it all quite amusing. No, you are not smarter than Hahn, TLR, JR or anyone else, but anyway, carry on..
  5. Maybe you're our right , Vaughn should have been in the line-up and playing RF against a tough RH pitcher. Instead TLR put Sheets out there. Sheets had a doublo following Burger's HR. That could have been the inning that the Sox got back in the game. Maybe Vaughn would have homered. Maybe this, maybe that but whatever does not work, it is easy to point fingers , especially at your favorite Manager.
  6. OK baseball geniuses, only two hits other than Burger, one by Sheet and one by Yaz. ...so who did you want to lead-off? Sox got beat by a great pitcher who is 7-0 with under 2.0 ERA and a team that hit 3 HR. Better luck tomorrow.
  7. Why isn't Vaughn in the line-up against Gonsolin?
  8. Vaughn would not have gotten to that ball.
  9. I hate games like this where it looks like it is over early and you feel like tuning out.
  10. I think we will know after the first inning or two if the Sox will be in this one.
  11. Sox aren't for sale and they won't be . It is a profitable , stable franchise that has some growth potential. The South Loop and Bridgeport areas continue to gentrify and it seems like the cubs could lose some market share as the cost for their fans escalates, and of course, if the Sox win the next one.
  12. The sore loser thing doesn't work in baseball. You lose, you lose.
  13. Start by respecting other posters and their opinions.
  14. I think JR has to seriously consider promoting TLR to some advisory position and hiring Ozzie to Manage the team for the rest of the season. After that, some changes have to be made to the roster...some DFAs, some demotions to and promotions from the Minors, perhaps a trade or two. No matter who you blame, it seems that the Sox just do not match up talent-wise with the top teams in the AL. I am not sure that can be addressed during this season. Hard to blame Hahn or anyone else for Keuchel, Harrison, Pollock, Grandal, Moncada, etc. under-performing. So the Sox are not contenders this season. Try to enjoy watching the games anyway.
  15. If Engel caught that ball, or if Burger didn't hit into that unusual third to second double play, or if Mendick did not try to advance to second. or if Giolito did not throw hanger to a guy who already homered off of him...All that and more went against the Sox in one game. That happens a few times over the course of a season to almost every team. You just have to pick up and play the next day. It's one loss .. not as big of a deal as some posters here are trying to make it.
  16. Why not bring up one of our top prospects for a look in the majors instead of Mendick ? Maybe try to find lightning in a bottle at this point.
  17. Forget about Eloy, how about some of the other guys on this team pull their wight and start pounding home runs ? HRs can cover up shortfalls in pitching and defense and win games that the Sox are now losing. Sox would have been swept by Boston without Burger's 3 run homer.
  18. 1. I never set Vaughn cant hit. 2. I said he has no business playing in the outfield...ever, and that he is one of the slowest payers on the team, which is also a problem on the bases. 3. Let's evaluate this player after the season It is a little too early now to claim he is one of the best hitters on the team. He hit .235 last year and he only has one more HR than Jake Burger now. Sounds a bit like other criticisms of players of color because they dare to show some personality or speak out.
  19. Yes don't forget that. WTF.
  20. I would probably start Gio, Cease and Kopech in the playoffs before Lynn. They may have more gas in their tanks than the old guy by then.
  21. "The White Sox Amateur City Elite (ACE) program provides a pathway to the game of baseball for more than 150 youth annually, while offering educational and mentorship programming aimed at pulling kids away from the dangers and potentially fatal distractions of Chicago’s violent neighborhoods. In 2007, recognizing the lack of opportunities for young people of color to get involved in the sport, the White Sox established the ACE program with three main objectives: Gain exposure for young ballplayers in Chicago’s under-served communities among college recruiters and scouts. Reverse the declining interest and participation in baseball among African Americans. Create a program that prepares each participant to succeed in life beyond the diamond." Tim has been a big supporter of ACE and has mentored players including the Cubs Ed Howard because he shares the goals of the ACE program. Any comments that malign Tim's efforts in that regard look like part of an Ultra-MAGA agenda.
  22. Kopech, Gio and Cease are among the best top of rotation starters in baseball now. Lynn and Cueto are about as good as can be expected for the bottom of the rotation. Keuchel is surplsage. I would make Kelly the Closer.
  23. Vaughn has not been that great against top RH pitchers. AV will get his chances this year to prove that wrong.
