Astro players and coaches who knew about or participated in the cheating scandal should have received more than a slap on the wrist from major league baseball. That includes Hinch and Keuchel. The Astros play if down, but the cheating scheme was premeditated and took place over three seasons including the play-offs. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/news/astros-scandal-timeline-sign-stealing-punishment/zbe6j4yoi1g21ia0say31zv3n

Fun to play GM. I'll bite: 1. DH platoon - Vaughn vs LHP and either Lamb, Grandal or Collins vs RH pitching Vaughn sits on the bench against RH pitching. 2. LF : platoon - Leury, Goodwin, Lamb 3. CF: Engel . occasional starts by Goodwin. 4. RF: Leury and Lamb until Eaton returns. 5. Eloy plays LF when he returns. 6. Robert back to Center, unless he is not running at 100%. Then I would leave Engel in CF and at least temporarily play Robert in RF where there is less ground to cover. That could also minimize re-injury. 7. Minimize inning killing double plays. Three innings were killed in the last game with DPs. I don't care if they hit and run, attempt steals or even bunt. Almost anything is better than those double plays. 8. Our Relievers have to throw strikes early in the count. They are getting behind too often and surrendering to hitters when they have to throw a strike. 9. Hitting coach has to have a more coherent plan for our hitters depending on the starter we are facing. Personally, I am not in favor of first ball fastball hunting. 10. Mendick and Leury platoon at second is fine for the moment.

Yerminator campaigning for HR Derby opportunity

I'm not a racist Kyyle and I have nothing personal against you or Mercedes. Just do your job here and don't single me out and accuse me of something that I am not. Trust me, if you knew me, you wouldn't. -

"Yermin has become a distraction for the team at this point. His streaky hitting and flamboyant style will suit him much better in the Pecos league. Hahn will give him his walking papers at some point in the not too distant future. He had his ten minutes of fame but its almost over now." Where is thee racist dog whistle in that? Do you even know what the Pecos League is? I think YOU made an assumption about race because the name sounds Mexican. " The Pecos League is an independent baseball league which operates in cities in desert mountain regions throughout California, New Mexico, Southern Arizona, Kansas, West Texas and Colorado. Pecos Teams play in cities that do not have Major or Minor League Baseball teams and is not affiliated with either. -

You are accusing me of being a racist? I am nothing of the sort, which you might understand if you read any of my posts on the Covid forum where I have opposed racism and the conduct of a certain political figure who promoted it. -

My comments are within the rules. I am commenting about a player's performance on the field. You are levying a personal attack and what appears to be a threat given that it comes from a moderator of the forum. You want to ban me because I think Yermin Mercedes should not be on the roster? That's trolling? -

Eloy will eventually return to the outfield when he is done with rehab. Cite one source inside the White Sox organization that disagrees with that. -

If Eloy and Robert come back close to full strength, If Engel, Mendick and Vaughn continue to show progress, If Kopech picks up where he left off, and the bullpen improves.. Then ,OK, no drastic need to acquire more players at this point. But those are all big "Ifs." So, assuming all that works out, you have Eloy, Engel and Robert in the outfield, Moncada, TA, Mendick, Abreu in the infield with Yaz catching, Vaughn as the DH Leury and Billy on the bench. Arguably that could work...if everyone remains healthy. -
Rays relievers serving a steady diet of sinkers many of which were outside the zone and called for strikes.
-
I I know, it is heresy to suggest moving a star player to a different position (as some suggested when Moncada was moved to third), but thinking outside the box for a minute, perhaps Eloy in LF, Engel in CF and Robert in RF might be worth trying once Eloy and Robert return. I don't care as much about having a LH bat in the outfield as I do with defense and HR power. Engel is second only to Mike Trout at robbing home runs.
-
White Sox need another hitting coach or replace the current dude, IMO..
-
I totally agree to try to obtain Adam Frazier, as long as the cost is not too much, but I would use him in RF and leave Mendick at second. Mendick is solid at second and has made clutch plays for us. He looks focused at the plate, especially in key at-bats. So my primary focus if I was Rick Hahn would be on solving the DH dilemma then RF. I don't have many suggestions for LH bats but , FWIW my line-up for August after the big boys come back: Tim Anderson - SS Yoan Moncada - 3B Jose Abreu - 1B Eloy Jiminez - LF Yasmani Grandal- C Luis Robert - CF Adam Frazier (or other trade target) - RF David Peralta or Joey Gallo (or other trade target) - DH Danny Mendick - 2B Right now, I would start platooning Vaughn and Lamb at DH. Not sure what to do with Mercedes but he has looked awful and is making a fool of himself with the approach he has.
-
I entirely disagree. Mendick is going to be fine as a replacement. We need to get HR from the corner outfielders and the DH spot, not try to fill that need with second basemen. Mercedes, Vaughn and Eaton need to be replaced. or at least platooned .
-
Yermin and and Vaughn in the same line-up have routinely been giving up 7 or 8 of 27 outs per game. If that was balanced with a lot of home runs, it would be acceptable. It pains me to see how many HR a team like the Rays can put up. Down 3-0 on two home runs early yesterday against an ace pitcher just about ruined the game. Please men, start hitting the ball out of the frikkin' park tonight against the Rays. No excuses. Let's go.
-
Yerminator is not hitting righties or lefties. Rick Hahn has to make the call about what to do with him now. Maybe demote or DFA him and bring up Jake Burger or Sheets or possibly make a trade.
-
Perhaps Mercedes and Eaton DFA and Vaughn to the Minors.
-
I would love to trade Hendriks if the Sox could get a decent return for him but admittedly, part of that is because I don't care for the guy's over-the-top act and vulgarity. IMO without Hendriks, the Sox could still Close by committee, like the Rays do.
-
Mendick has made game saving plays and is hitting good pitching. I'd stick with him . We need bullpen help and some guys that can hit and hit for power in the middle of the line-up. Mercedes and Vaughn are on thin ice right now.
-
TB has a line-up that is relentless....almost no breaks for a pitcher. Lynn was under stress every inning. Our line-up was going to be that way before all the injuries. Now it is like Swiss cheese. Some roster moves or trades will be made if some of these guys continue to struggle.
-
Let's get 'em tomorrow. We need to hit some home runs ...with men on base.
-
Stone should stop ejaculating over the Rays.
-
Not I.
