  1. It is completely unrealistic to think that all these kids will hit their ceilings. The odds say that half of them will flame out and never reach the bigs. Luis Robert and Nick Madrigal have hit zero home runs this year. You can make up excuses and spin this however you want but zero home runs from two of your top prospects in Late August is a cause for great concern in my opinion. Also, Gavin Sheets going in the second round was a huge reach. An advanced college bat like his should be hitting for way more power.
  2. This post is not going to be popular around here.
  3. Remember Hostletter is on record saying he would have taken Collins with the first pick. It probably won't happen as long as JR is owner but one day in the great future the Sox might actually clean house and hire some competent people.
  4. I was at Rodon's debut as well. Extremely anti-climatic as he came out of the bullpen and started walking everyone. I think Sox Killer Ryan Raburn had like 5 RBIs that game. Rodon and Kopech will hopefully turn into a nasty one-two punch at the top of the Sox rotation!
  5. Nolan Gorman is 18 years old and only a level below Madrigal. Gorman may be in the Show long before his 21st birthday. I would take him in a hearbeat over Madrigal right now but that ship has sailed. Albies is 20 years old and two years younger than Moncada lol! In what world is a wRC+ of 107 bad? Have you seen Moncada's wRC+?
  6. https://deadspin.com/white-sox-prospect-yoan-moncada-eats-up-to-85-twinkies-1793613366 Just found out about this article from Spring of 17. The guy was eating 85 twinkies a week as a multi-multi millionaire professional athlete? I understand that he was a young man just arriving in a new country, but he is far far from your average "joe" and has financial priviledges that most of us will never come close to having. That kind of behavior should have set off some alarms and served as a red flag about the kid's work ethic. Also, the quotes from Keith Law about Moncada's hit tool have been very accurate some 18 months later. Moncada has to learn how to adjust his hitting approach and cut down his K rate. His 2018 has been worse than his 2017 and that is very alarming.
  7. Little Nicky with no triples or homers through the first 32 games of his professional career. Hostletter and company know that is not against the law to select high schoolers in the first two rounds of the draft, right? Do the Sox even scout high school players?
  8. It means Kopech has been down in AAA for a full calendar year and has put up numbers that show he is ready for the big time. There is no need for him to be in the minors anymore. Do you still think he should be in Charlotte? If so, why?
  9. I really think the Sox are going to go out and sign an arm this offseason. Similiar to how the Cubs ponied up for Lester while they were still rebulding. 2019 should be the make it or break it year for Giolito and Lopez. Let's hope that at least one of them turns into a legit back of the rotation arm.
  10. Hopefully bringing Kopech up means Shields is either in the process of being traded or DFA'd. This guy has no future with the Sox. It is well past time for him to go away.
  11. It's the way you phrased it man. It sounds like you are concerned that the Sox are gonna lose a top 50 prospect 5 years down the line when the Sox are trying to trade Kopech ala the Sale deal. The prospect hoarding and teardown part of the rebuild are ovah! Some of us would like to see a competitve Sox team within the next few years. Bringing Kopech up now and getting him some mlb experience moves the needle towards that.
  12. Who cares man? The kid looks ready for the Show and that is all that should matter. You can't hide these kids down in the minors forever.
  13. Well said and it looks like Mr. Hahn heard you lol. Kopech will make his mlb debut on Tuesday! Hopefully Eloy is up soon as well.
  14. The problems with this organization are systemic and run far deeper than the manager.
  15. Good god man. Go back and look at the articles around the time of the Sale and Eaton trade. The Sox front office was talking about this organization being a team to reckon with in 2019/2020. Now the window is supposed to start in 2022? If that is the case, then just avoid the inevitable and fire Hahn and company now.
  16. Alen Hanson is a scrap heap player who signed for 90K. Yoan Moncada is a guy who got a 40 million dollar signing bonus and a former #1 prospect in all of baseball. On paper, Hanson shouldn't even be close to sniffing Moncada's jock but baseball is a crazy game.
  17. Rodon isn't a prospect anymore. Any player is tradable if the price is right, but Rodon is finally starting to look the guy we all expected him to be. You gotta fill out a rotation somehow. This thread is more about the state of the rebuild. The fact that people are seriously discussing moving Rodon means that things are moving quickly in the wrong direction.
  18. Moncada wRC+ of 90 Hanson wRC+ of 106 First step is to get robot umps. Next step is to play baseball based on projection and ZIPS.
  19. What if you move Rodon for two top 50 pitching prospects ala the Eaton trade?
  20. The Braves got Acuna and Albies. Those two dudes making the Show look like Williamsport. The Yankees got Torres and Andujar both making hay. The Astros are the defending World Series Champions. Come again on how the White Sox are anywhere near these 3 franchises?
  21. How is Rodon their last large piece? What about Abreu, Avi, Sanchez, Shields? None of these guys have any future with the White Sox. Abreu should have been moved a long time ago. Let Davidson, Skole, or Casey Gillapsie play first until Gavin Sheets is ready. Same for Avi. Give the playing time in Right to Cordell, Leury, and Tilson. DFA Shields and promote Stephens or Jordan Guerrero. The Sox are giving way too much playing time to guys who do not factor into their long term plans.
  22. I can dig the sarcasm. However, the situation that you describe has played out in the past with other franchises. First we move Rodon before the 2021 window ,and next thing you know we are worried about moving Moncada before the 2024 window closes cause the guys you got for Rodon are "still developing".
  23. He should be batting leadoff every game and Anderson should be batting second. These two are the cornerstones of the Sox infield for the next 6-7 years and should be getting all the at bats that they can handle.
  24. The idea of trading Carlos Rodon this offseason has been floating around these parts and others lately and it makes little sense to me. The kid is finally starting to put it together and is under team control for 2019, 2020, and 2021. Why in the world would you want to trade him now for more prospects? Does this sound crazy to anyone else? The Sox are past the teardown stage of the rebuild. The rest of this year and next should be developmental years but the Sox should be trying to get after it in 2020 ( year 4 of the rebuild). Carlos Rodon should be in those plans and will hopefully be an anchor at the top of the rotation. Whenever someone is critical of the Sox rebuild, people love to preach patience and point to the success of the Cubs and Astros. Well, the Cubs and Astros certainly didn't trade away any of their young cost-controlled future studs during the early parts of their rebuild. A trade of Rodon would signal that people are cool with punting away the 2020 and 2021 seasons. That is not cool with me and I'm sure other Sox fans feel the same. This year and last have pretty much sucked and I don't want to sit through 3 or 4 more years of garbage baseball. Let's forget about prospect hoarding and start moving in a winning direction!
