  1. Very nice. Hopefully the kid can start next year in Birmingham, be up in Charlotte by early June, and make his mlb debut during September call ups.
  2. I have positive posts. They just aren't in the Moncada thread cause there hasn't been much to be positive about with him this year. More than one account? LMAO. More nonsense.
  3. Get out of here with this nonsense. I got no problems with Cuban players and love me some Jose Abreu. Abreu has proven that he can hit big league pitching unlike Moncada or Robert. U ready to eat crow on Albies yet? That kid just keeps on proving haters like you wrong day after day.
  4. David Bote already has a higher WAR than Moncada this year and Bote has only played in 34 games! Quit living in the past with Moncada. His #1 prospect days are ancient history.
  5. Please show me some facts that display an improvement in Moncadas game. You couldn't even trade Moncada straight up for David Bote at this point. Pretty harsh reality.
  6. Moncada is nothing more than a paper tiger at this point. I've been saying it for months, but the Sox got sold a Toyota Camry disguised as a Porsche. All the "tools" in the world don't matter if the kid can't hit and adjust his approach. He is going to shatter the all time record for strikeouts in a season. It will be really interesting to see what the Sox do with him a month from now. Will they shut him down in Mid-September in a developmental year or let him him shatter the strikeout record?
  7. Sheets was a total reach in the second round. Hosteller would definitely like a mulligan on his first two picks from 2017.
  8. Some crazy talk going on here in regards to Luis Robert. Comps to Trout and Mantle? The kid has over 100 at bats this year in the minors and hasn't hit a homer. Enough said right there.
  9. Moncada has struck out 169 times this season. Nine more k's than Joey Gallo! He is going to set the all time record for most strikeouts in a season at this pace. This season has been an absolute train-wreck. I'm not sure how anyone can say with a straight face that they have seen Moncada improve this year. His ceiling is looking more and more like Starlin Castro with each passing day and that is downright frightening.
  10. So if the Sox is rebuild is gonna take 5-6 years before they field a competitive team, then Detroit has to be looking at close to a decade of rebuilding right?
  11. The Sox should pony up and sign Patrick Corbin to a 4 or 5 year deal. Dude is still under 30 and putting up ridiculous numbers pitching out in the desert. Trying to fill the rotation with arms solely from the farm isn't a good idea.
  12. Moncada at third sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. The Sox need to go hard after Machado and Arenado. Collins isn't going to stick behind the plate. His defense is terrible and not improving. Puff quotes from Nick Hostletter don't count.
  13. 4 WAR catchers don't come cheap. Also, if trading James Shields for Tatis JR isn't a fireable offense then nothing is.
  14. This rebuild is doomed if you think the Sox can field a competitive team solely from the farm. That is 100% not realistic!
  15. I find it hilarious that you just hand wave away the Cubs example of a team making the playoffs with 3 rookie starters. Do you live in an alternate reality where that didn't happen? People have been comparing the Sox rebuild to the Cubs for months now. Why are we all of sudden saying that it isn't realistic for this team to be competing for the playoffs in 2020?
  16. You asked people to provide examples man. Look around baseball. There are young kids producing all over the place. Some of these young kids from the Sox need to hit the ground running. I guess that is the nice thing about rebuilding though. Everything can always just be pushed out a year due to the idea that not all development is linear.
  17. The Yanks are running two position player rookies out there right now. Atlanta has acuna, Albies, and Camargo in their starting lineup. Collins was drafted as an advanced college bat in 2016. He should be ready to go by 2020 especially if he is moved off catcher. Luis Robert was signed in the Summer of 2017. He will be 23 in 2020. Kids like Soto and Acuna are up now producing at age 19 and 20. I would expect Robert could do the same. Gonzalez is another college bat drafted in 2017 that should be ready by 2020.
  18. The Sox better be going after it in 2020. That will be year 4 of the rebuild. Same year that the Cubs started their playoff run. Sox should be able to do the same. Competing in 2020 will require JR to open the checkbook but if you wanna be a big boy club in today's MLB you gotta be willing to spend. 1B/ Zach Collins 2B Yoan Moncada SS Tim Anderson 3B Nolan Arenado LF Eloy Jimenez CF Luis Robert RF Luis Gonzalez C JT Realmeto DH Palka/Davidson until Adolfo is ready. SP1=Patrick Corbin SP2=Carlos Rodon SP3=Michael Kopech SP4=Reynaldo Lopez SP5=Dane Dunning/Giolito/Stephens/Adams Bullpen will be some mix of Burdi, Hamilton, Fry, Flores, Burr, Medrios, and a FA signing. Yolmer as utility guy Zavala back up catcher Sox trade Madrigal, Cease, and Hansen for JT Realmeto.
  19. The Sox should be playing much better than 500 ball in 2020. That will be year 4 of the rebuild. The Cubs were able to go to deep into the playoffs during year 4 of their rebuild. The Sox should be competing for a division crown in 2020.
  20. Ozzie Albies has a WAR of 5.2 in 164 games played and is 20 years old. Ronald Acuna has a WAR of 1.2 in 60 games and is 20 years old. Johan Camargo has a WAR of 3.0 in 171 games played and is 24. Sean Newcomb has a WAR of 3.0 with 42 career starts. That is pretty damn impressive. The only guy still scuffling for them is Dansby Swanson.
  21. Most of the big boy teams have a pretty good idea of who their catcher will be in 2020. I disagree that the Sox are fairly well positioned at catcher. Maybe the Sox shock the world and sign Grandal this offseason.
  22. At what point does the rebuild become the snake eating its own tail? The tearing down part of the rebuild is over. Next year will be another developmental year for all the youngsters but I suspect Hahn will add some FA as well. The Sox control Rodon for 2019, 2020, and 2021. This team should be able to compete in 2020 and 2021.
  23. Echoing what others have said, it is likely that Narvaez's ceiling is that of a backup catcher. He just isn't good enough defensively to be the every day catcher. The real question is who is going to be the every day catcher in 2020 when this team is supposed to be ready to compete? The Sox are probably fooling themselves if they think Collins is the answer at catcher as no one outside of the organization thinks that he will stick behind the plate.
  24. Those degrees sure cost a pretty penny. Too bad they haven't been able to buy a winning season on the South Side since Mr. Hahn took over.
  25. Don't you think Pollack and Dozier are gonna get 3 year deals? Also, has Dozier even played more than 50 games in his career at third?
