  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 25, 2008 -> 04:01 PM) I didn't expect Indiana to be so poor. Did all of Sampson's kids transfer or something? Transferred or kicked off the team
  2. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 05:10 PM) Eh, I'll defend southern here. They have only lost to two teams that Illinois wouldn't stand a chance against either. UMASS isn't a bad win either. SIU is still only the second best team in the state though. UCLA lost to Michigan but Illinois wouldn't stand a chance? Ridiculous
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 01:12 AM) Wow I did not know that, thanks guys. All of that stuff isn't going to happen, but I've always heard there was a rule against 3 teams, and I always heard it falsely apparently. Because generally that is what all announcers and sportswriters say and it is true except in the incredibly unlikely circumstance that somehow a conference has the number 1 and 2 ranked teams in the BCS and neither one of them wins the conference championship.
  4. I think the Bulls should try to give up more dunks tonight.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 11:13 PM) Hughes sucks. Gordon shoots too much and hates defense apparently. Tyrus is a waste of athleticism. Noah blows. Deng is overpaid big time. Nocioni stinks. Gooden is medicore. Yet, Rose doesn't touch the ball and all these nimrods do. Outside of Rose who exactly do you want shooting the ball in place of Gordon right now?
  6. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) Didnt Rasheid Davis drop the last pass? Thats what Joniak said No, it was thrown behind him and high so he only really get one hand on it.
  7. I hope Locksley gets a head coaching job so we can get an offensive coordinator who actually knows what the f*** he is doing.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 11:00 PM) Anyone smell an upset from the Hawkeyes in Iowa City on Saturday vs Penn State? Snowy and windy means Clark won't be able to work his magic for Penn State, and all Iowa wants to do is run the ball anyways... Penn St. averages more rushing YDS/G and defensively is slightly stronger than Iowa against the run.
  9. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 02:58 AM) Now that we have our first black pres., which do you think will come next? a female? a Latino? a member of another race, Asian, Middle Eastern, etc a homosexual? I think a female is likely in the not to distant future. Jindal certainly has a chance to be a president so it is possible that an Indian will be the next minority to be president. I would say that an openly homosexual candidate would have no chance to win the presidency and probably won't for some time. Same with someone who is Middle Eastern.
  10. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 02:37 AM) All I can say is Whew. Most interesting figure: 51-48% in the pop vote, that's pretty close. I can only scratch my head. Fox, CNN, and NBC all have it at 52-47% right now which really isn't that close.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 12:44 AM) Tough loss for Boston. It shows how terribly hard it is to come back from 3-1 against a damn good team. Bosox had plenty of chances as we did. Some sluggers were up with a man on base in late innings with chances to hit the White Sox all or nothing type dinger to tie it. Like us, they failed. Tough loss when you have that kind of payroll. I would think Bosox fans are mighty pissed. It's changed in Beantown since they started spending like mad and winning. Some damn good high paid players made outs against that no name reliever at the end. David Price was the #1 pick in last years draft and will probably be a household name in the not to distant future.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 03:47 PM) For a team who has struggled in the past in the tournament and now they are criticized because nobody thinks they're athletic as you have to be to win, I think an Elite 8 appearance for my Devils would be a good year. USC football and Duke basketball? Interesting.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 12, 2008 -> 12:30 PM) Looking at their schedule, I don't see another win all year or a game I feel good about. Purdue, Northwestern, and Minnesota are all winnable for Michigan. The streak against PSU is definitely coming to an end next week though.
  14. QUOTE (Shadows @ Oct 11, 2008 -> 10:39 PM) I dont even know what he is talkin about with Illinois For the other Illini fans on the board, did any of you expect anything better than another 9-3, 8-4 season this year with our schedule? Thats what I had us figured for, I don't know who he is talkin about that thought Illinois was winning 10-11 games and fighting for a National Title spot Illinois should be primed to have their best year next season, that's what I have been holding out on I don't think anyone was talking about Illinois fighting for a national title spot except for maybe one or two absurdly optimistic people that every fan base has. The team was ranked in the 20s to start the year and that is the type of team I thought Illinois would be and probably still is. I thought they would go about 8-4 and make a decent bowl before the season.
  15. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 9, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) Explain the Twins to me then. They scored more runs, they lead the league in hitting on the road. The Twins ranked high in the AL in both batting average and more importantly OBP. They also hit extremely well with RISP. However, if you look at previous Twins lineups this year is an outlier. The Twins have routinely finished in the bottom half of the AL in runs scored. In 2006 they led the AL in batting average, were 5th in OBP but were 8th in runs. They were 8th in HRs that year.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 01:36 AM) I just read some of the postgame stuff finally. KW hugged Swish and said, 'Start over next year.' That doesn't mean he won't trade him, but I can see the front office taking the stance that it was an off year which I don't necessarily agree with. The fact that his batting average, OBP, and slugging percentage were all down significantly from his previous 2 seasons says otherwise.
  17. QUOTE (almagest @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 12:24 AM) He doesn't hit for average, I guess. Of course, if he was still hitting ~.300 at age 38 he'd probably be considered one of the best of all time, so that's probably not a valid criticism. Oh, and he's also not "clutch", whatever that means. I guess a 3 run homer in the 3rd is like 15x less important than a 3 run homer in the 8th. Seriously, I'd like to see what most people consider a valid option at DH Dye? Konerko? Someone else? And since Thome's option vested, where's he going to go? That HR that sent the Sox to the postseason was also definitely not clutch. All I have to say about the off season right now is that if Willy Taveras or a similar player is the Sox starting CF next year I'm breaking s***. The only role that Taveras should fill on a major league baseball team is as a designated pinch runner.
  18. Absolutely huge base hit by Hunter. These last couple of games have been really entertaining.
  19. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) I'm going to celebrate when he (hopefully) rejects arbitration. He is going to want one last long term deal so I would be absolutely shocked if he accepted arbitration.
  20. The umping in this series has been seriously awful. Now the Rays would be winning anyways but the home plate umpiring has been atrocious.
  21. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 06:28 PM) Who would you rather have back next year? Thome or Griffey Thome and it is not close. Griffey actually played pretty decent baseball in September for the White Sox though.
