  1. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 01:23 PM) If I were the guy who caught the ball, I would draw a big, giant "*" on the ball, then give it to him. No you wouldn't. You would sell it like any other person on this board.
  2. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 11:16 PM) So f***ing glad I got to see that live, one of those special moments no matter how you feel about him. Sorry, but knowing that this record is largely the product of performance enhancing drugs makes it impossible for that to be a special moment IMO.
  3. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 11:03 PM) 756! Meh
  4. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 06:52 PM) Yeah, I don't give them that for a guy whose power was sapped by steroids and will continue to decrease with his wrist injury. And it'd probably be more than Garland/Gio, knowing Angelos. His power last year may have been down a little last year. But it was not significantly different from his time with the A's as his extra base hit totals were similar to what he had done in Oakland. His slugging percentage was also higher than all but one of his seasons in Oakland. And he actually posted the second highest OPS of his career last year. Aside from the wrist injury, I'm not seeing much drop off in production.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 12:11 PM) I want no part of Tejada..The last thing this club needs is another power bat in the lineup.. I would have thought 2005 and the 1st half offense would have shown the fans something. How to play baseball the right way, which leads to winning baseball. But, it seems most fans are stuck in the riods era of having 5 guys hit 30hrs makes for great highlights on baseball tonight.. does not make for winning baseball. The 2005 offense sucked and relied heavily on the home run. The last thing I want to see is another offense like that. They got hot at the right time in the playoffs, but that offense was pretty awful to watch for most of that season. That team won because of great pitching, not because of "small ball". The 1st half offense was terrible this year because JD sucked, we don't even have a respectable leadoff man, and we have a couple of guys in our lineup who have frankly just suck.
  6. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 11:50 AM) Why is that? Seriously whats your reasoning, just about any one of those players I listed I could put in the top 3 arguably, the fact that he holds the record for most hits of all time made me put him there. He has the most hits because he was a very good hitter for a long time but that still doesn't mean he belongs in the top 3. Loo at his numbers next to guys like Gehrig, Musial, Hornsby, Aaron and they pale in comparison. He hit for a good average and did a good job getting on base. But he didn't hit for power, and his average and OBP is actually significantly lower than guys like Gehrig and Musial.
  7. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 11:36 AM) Just for the hell of it heres my well top 10: 1. Babe Ruth 2. Ted Williams 3. Pete Rose 4. Ty Cobb 5. Tony Gwynn 6. Hank Aaron 7. Lou Gherig 8. Stan Musial 9. Roger Hornsby 10. Barry Bonds Some notables deserving of a spot, Willie Mays, Wade Boggs, Honus Wagner, Rod Carew. Pete Rose is not even close to the 3rd best hitter of all time.
  8. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 10:59 PM) Yes it will. If A-Rod ends this year with 510, and hits exactly 40 a year for the next 10 years, he'll end up with 810. Scary. Check your math
  9. QUOTE(Shadows @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 10:33 PM) Haha yes, Ruth who not only played against inferior talent than Bonds has but also doesn't even have better overall numbers than Bonds is clearly better.. Ruth's numbers are quite a bit better than Bond's numbers actually. Significantly higher BA, OBP, SLG, and OPS.
  10. QUOTE(whitesox61382 @ May 9, 2007 -> 04:19 PM) Does redshirting a player free up a scholarship? No
  11. How is this determined?
  12. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 4, 2007 -> 12:03 AM) so apparently Dallas is like the worst 65 win team in NBA history They aren't. But only because they won 67 games.
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 3, 2007 -> 11:41 PM) Holy mother f***. WHAT. A. QUARTER. Normally I would say just slow the game down, but f*** that. Just do what you do boys. I'd actually love to see Golden State run the score up and win by 40.
  14. Really stupid on Davis's part. You are in complete control of this game. Keep your head, that wasn't even that hard of a foul. I took harder shots than that in pick up games today.
  15. That should have been a 4 pt play. Dirk knocks down Jackson on one end with no call than fouls Baron Davis on a 3 with no call.
  16. This officiating has been weak. And the restricted circle is still one of the dumbest rules in sports.
  17. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 11:59 PM) Baron Davis is the f***ing man. Warriors up 3-1 on Dallas. Amazing. He is the best player in this series. Getting Jackson and Harrington for Murphy and Dunleavy was a freaking awesome trade for the Warriors.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 11:30 AM) He's used to that. Yep and Jon Kitna is a respectable NFL QB. Reggie Ball was a pathetic excuse for a college QB. I know the Lions have taken 4 wideouts in the last 4 years, but I still think this is the right pick.
  19. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 21, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) Ouch. Very ouch. Iowa is going to be Northwestern bad next year.
  20. Jeff Jordan down to Valpo and Illinois. http://www.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/stories/041907abu.html
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 10:33 AM) I'd be surprised if OSU doesnt take the big ten again next year. I'll take MSU
  22. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 09:55 AM) are you talking about the course of a year or the course of the season? If anyone averaged 8 RBI's a week despite hitting .182 would have a spot in my lineup anyday. They wouldn't in mine. Because if you are hitting .182 you aren't scoring any runs and the only reason you are getting RBIs is because you are having an incredible amount of opportunities.
  23. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) go to big team in big conference and make them awesome(Illinois, A&M) Kruger made us awesome, not Self. Self did a good job maintaining it though.
  24. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) No surprise, the 4 juniors are going to enter the NBA draft, per espn.com I'm surprised Green is going. I don't think he has a prayer of being a 1st round pick.
