White Sox v. Angels, 9/11, Gamethread

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) Don't worry...he'll be gone soon enough, and LF is a very easy position to find someone good. Just think how crappy it is to be an Astros fan, as they must think he's their version of Mike Sweeney. He's not ignorant...just senile. With the key difference being that Mike Sweeney was actually good. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) Completely agree and Colt McCoy is able to get a TD thanks to it. OSU driving though with the ball on the 29 with 22 seconds left. 14-7 Ohio St. Great drive right before halftime. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) Iowa game is on ABC and its in overtime. TD ALBERT YOUNG and the Xtra point is good, now Iowa needs to play some defense. f***, 1st and goal from the 2 for Cuse. f*** YA, Iowa Stops em, Iowa Stops em...we had 6 plays from them at the 2 and they gained a total 1 yard and did have a pass interference call too. WOW, WHAT A WIN!!!! It was ugly, it wasn't pretty but in the end we found a way to gut through it. That was a hell of a goal line stand by Iowa. And some of the worst play calling ever by Syracuse. -
QUOTE(WCSox @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) Way to ignore what Pods did prior to the injury last August. He was a major reason that our low-OBP offense scored runs last season. Our offense was bad last year and I'd say that the major reason we scored runs was that we were 4th in the AL in HR.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) It may have taken Ozzie 135 games to figure it out, but at least he finally figured out having one of the worst hitters on the team leading off is not a good idea. Scott Podsednik= 8th place hitter with no power and a terrible defender who can't throw. Now he just needs to take him out of the lineup completely in favor of Gload/Mackowiak/Sweeney and he will finally have it correct.

Great bunt by Iguchi there.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 10:26 AM) and is open to the public.... get your ass there greasy! Go straight to Memorial Stadium afterwards. Time to put the tailgating on hold to do some recon for all of us. FWIW, having a scrimmage open to the public in which a recruit plays is an NCAA violation.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 01:12 PM) I was responding to a poster who stated that he believed they might one of him or those other 2 guys, so I'm not sure where you got the idea that anybody is saying you guys "lost" him. I'm just glad we're still in the running for Rose and are the front-runner for Mac. I was responding to the Sakamoto article. I probably could have been more clear.
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 12:59 PM) Not Mac. And supposedly tucker will also visit Depaul and miami with illinois and indiana being his top 2. And by the way, I find the not wanting Rose because he's a one-and-done excuse kinda funny, but I'll be using it if/when he doesn't choose DePaul... Not that it matters, but Koshwal never received an offer from Illinois so I'm not sure how we "lost" him. One and done excuse is stupid for a player of Rose's caliber but if Illinois lands Tucker than 3-4 years of Tucker likely makes more of an impact than Rose would ahve for one.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 09:25 PM) He's a GREAT utility player. Somebody explain to me why Brian wasn't hitting for Podsednik there. Anybody?? Hell, I would love him as our everyday starter in LF against RHP.
-
Can we please bench Pods. He is the worst player on this team.

QUOTE(cgaudin @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) This may be the silver lining. Lot of folks drinkin' the Thome kool-aid. I like Thome....just not in the 3 spot. Thome should hit 3rd against righties. JD against lefties. -

QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) speed? not really, he doesnt get on enough, power? nope. defense? nope. avg? nope. but what other choice do we have? Gload is a better option at this point. He wouldn't be any worse in the OF than Pods and is clearly the better hitter. -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) Fact is that runner should have never been on base, let alone all the way to third. Agreed, but it would be nice if just once in a while one of our starting pitchers could pitch over an error by the defense. -

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 06:28 PM) I believe it was Felix who posted Pod's numbers from April 15th through like August 2nd. Something like .287/.360/.745? That's more than respectable. Yes, he's been really bad the last week or so. He had a great month in May (.937 OPS) that makes those numbers look a lot better then they really are. He had OBP of .318 in June and of .330 in July. And in July he basically had one good week and he sucked the rest of the month. So like I said, he has had one good month but aside from that he has been terrible at the plate.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) Consistency has been his problem. He's been up/down all year. This is one of those down periods at the moment. I'm fairly certain you'll see him turn it around soon. Outside of the month of May Pods has been a bad player. He was absolutely terrible in April and June, in July he posted only a .330 OBP which is awful for a leadoff man, and his terrible play has continued right on into August.

QUOTE(Jake @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 11:11 AM) I really don't think Mackowiak will be successful as an everyday player. I think Scotty is better offensively and defensively. If we were to make a change in LF, I would want it to be a Ryan Sweeney-type, someone who actually has some upside and is better defensively. Mackowiak's defense in LF>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Scotty's D
-
QUOTE(Hatchetman @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) release mackowiak so we don't have to see him in CF anymore. Mack is one of the best bench players in MLB. Not sure why anyone would want to see him go.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) Maybe we're seeing why Buehrle dropped so low in his draft. What a stupid post
-
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) If our pitching was pitching up to their ability this "turnover" wouldn't mean a god damn thing. Correct. If our pitching was up to last years standards we would probably be on pace for about 110 wins right now. Similarly, if last years offense was paired up with this years pitching we would have a sub .500 baseball team.
