8/25 Game Thread Sox vs. Twins
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 09:25 PM) He's a GREAT utility player. Somebody explain to me why Brian wasn't hitting for Podsednik there. Anybody?? Hell, I would love him as our everyday starter in LF against RHP.

QUOTE(cgaudin @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) This may be the silver lining. Lot of folks drinkin' the Thome kool-aid. I like Thome....just not in the 3 spot. Thome should hit 3rd against righties. JD against lefties.

QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) speed? not really, he doesnt get on enough, power? nope. defense? nope. avg? nope. but what other choice do we have? Gload is a better option at this point. He wouldn't be any worse in the OF than Pods and is clearly the better hitter.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) Fact is that runner should have never been on base, let alone all the way to third. Agreed, but it would be nice if just once in a while one of our starting pitchers could pitch over an error by the defense.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 06:28 PM) I believe it was Felix who posted Pod's numbers from April 15th through like August 2nd. Something like .287/.360/.745? That's more than respectable. Yes, he's been really bad the last week or so. He had a great month in May (.937 OPS) that makes those numbers look a lot better then they really are. He had OBP of .318 in June and of .330 in July. And in July he basically had one good week and he sucked the rest of the month. So like I said, he has had one good month but aside from that he has been terrible at the plate.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) Consistency has been his problem. He's been up/down all year. This is one of those down periods at the moment. I'm fairly certain you'll see him turn it around soon. Outside of the month of May Pods has been a bad player. He was absolutely terrible in April and June, in July he posted only a .330 OBP which is awful for a leadoff man, and his terrible play has continued right on into August.

Jose Cruz Jr.
QUOTE(Jake @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 11:11 AM) I really don't think Mackowiak will be successful as an everyday player. I think Scotty is better offensively and defensively. If we were to make a change in LF, I would want it to be a Ryan Sweeney-type, someone who actually has some upside and is better defensively. Mackowiak's defense in LF>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Scotty's D

what is your ideal offseason for the sox
QUOTE(Hatchetman @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) release mackowiak so we don't have to see him in CF anymore. Mack is one of the best bench players in MLB. Not sure why anyone would want to see him go.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) Maybe we're seeing why Buehrle dropped so low in his draft. What a stupid post

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) If our pitching was pitching up to their ability this "turnover" wouldn't mean a god damn thing. Correct. If our pitching was up to last years standards we would probably be on pace for about 110 wins right now. Similarly, if last years offense was paired up with this years pitching we would have a sub .500 baseball team.

Official 2006 NBA Draft Thread
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) The guy from South Carolina was a terrific player in college. His only knock is that he's undersized. Of course it will still be bllown out of proportion the next couple days. Wow, the Boston Celtics just traded INTO the draft to get Rajon Rondo. It's funny how the "lower-tier" PGs are as good, if not better than, the "higher-tier" PGs. He averaged 9.5 pts and 6.3 rebounds. If that is terrific then 80% of the starters in college basketball are terrific.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:00 AM) Craig Brackins....any good? 4 star picked Iowa State over Illinois and Indiana, and Clemson and Washington. TAKE THAT, Illiana. Brackins didn't have an offer from Illinois and Boyz to Men is an absolute joke of a school. I would be surprised if it isn't one of the prep schools banned by the NCAA.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) five-star 2007 recruit evan turner from st. joseph's has declared illinois as his leader. turner and teammate demetri mccamey will be in champaign this weekend playing in a basketball tournament. also attending will be 2007 illinois commit eric gordon, and 2007 target derrick rose. Turner is going to be in Champaign on an unofficial visit. McCamey won't be there as St. Joes isn't in that tourney. EJ, Rose, Tisdale, and Cole will be playing though.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 27, 2006 -> 12:35 PM) ER*9/IP 6 * 9 = 54 54/0.3(1/3 of an inning) = 180 Try Again Hint: 1/3 does not equal .3

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 27, 2006 -> 08:59 AM) well, he only recorded one out in the inning, so theoretically he would have 6 runs per out. 6(runs) x 3(outs) x 9(innings)=162 ERA If im wrong and someone knows it, please correct me. This is how I thought it went. ERA: (earned runs x 9) divided by innings pitched In this case (6 x 9) / 1/3= 162.00

Official NBA Playoffs Thread
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 7, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) Oh please, they were down 30. His teammates quit on him and that's why the game was over in the 3rd quarter, he was the only guy that showed up last night. Kobe isn't anywhere near Jordan, but the "Kobe did this that Jordan wouldn't have" nonsense is silly. Nobody is Jordan, and whoever claims Kobe is should have their basketball fan card taken away anyways. They were down 15 at halftime. Hardly an insurmountable lead and Kobe never showed any heart or life in the 2nd half. No matter what he did they weren't winning the game but whenever you have Charles Barkley saying you were selfish then you have some issues.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 7, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) Wasn't his fault that Nash's help showed up in the last 3 games and his didn't. Kobe is still the real MVP, even if Nash won this battle. Oh, and I think Cleveland vs. Detroit will be a good series. Cleveland won't win, but they will make it a decent series. Miami vs. New Jersey should be pretty easy for Miami, but I am biased against New Jersey since they suck on defense. I hope Dallas beats San Antonio, IMO they are the only team in the NBA that can beat the Pistons (they being Dallas) and Clips vs. Suns will be a REALLY fun series, I'll take the Clips to win though. Real MVP's don't quit on their team in the 2nd half of a game 7. Jordan never would have gone down that way.
