Yeah, you're right. There were two things that concerned me coming into this year: one is the lack of a big man to go along with Augustine. The second thing was good zone defenses. There is a big difference between the matchup zones used by Syracuse and Providence than the typical zone you see at the high school and junior high level.

No one can shoot the basketball anymore. If you can run an effective zone you will be very successful with it. In fact, I'm surprised more teams don't try running matchup zones. If it is taught properly and you have guys willing to work it can be very effective because there are very few players who shoot the basketball at a high level anymore.

Blown saves can be misleading for nonclosers. I am almost positive that almost all of Marte's blown saves came when he came in with the tying run already on base and he allowed that runner to come in and score. It is much easier to get a blown save this way than to blow a save when you come in to start the 9th with no one on base like Guardado does.

STL literally lost that game by about 3 inches. The guy hit what looked like a game tying three but he one of his feet was just on the line. Great game though.

I don't think the officials were beneficial to either team but that was not a well officiated game in the least.
