  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 11:36 PM) He has absolutely been good over the past month or so though and is trending upward (which is nice). I'd agree he has definitely looked better and is trending upwards. Good? Debatable as he has been horrible distributing the ball and I'd say he has had 5 bad games in January (might be unfair to count the Miami game but he had a bad first half before sitting out the second half), 4 really good games and 2 solid games and the team has not been good with him on the floor.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 11:30 PM) He hasn't been great but to call him below average is ridiculous. Terrible shooting, offensive rating below 100, bad assist rate for a PG. Yeah, I'd say over the course of the season he has been below average. Thankfully he has played better of late and he looks fine athletically.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 11:30 PM) Looked like Hill got fouled at the end. He clearly did but we almost certainly wouldn't have won anyways.
  4. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 11:25 PM) DROSE has been great this season. He just hasn't been able to stay on the court. Yeah, he really hasn't been great. Below average although he has been better lately.
  5. This is a terrible basketball game.
  6. Holy s*** are the Lakers bad. And if I'm them unless I get the #1 pick to land Simmons I'm hoping I fall out of the top 3 this year so that the 76ers get the pick this year since this draft looks pretty bad right now rather than having the 76ers get their pick no matter what next year.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 10:00 PM) Groce's offense for 4 seasons now has been - shoot 3's and pray they go in. How many 6, 8, 10 min stretches without scoring do we have to sit through? We've been sitting through those droughts for 10 years now. The only season post Dee where we weren't bad on offense was McCamey's senior year and even that team wasn't great on offense and underachieved badly at that end.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) To Cubit's credit, Illinois still in on a lot of targets going into signing day that could take this class up from the very bad level. I guess immediate playing time is alluring to some. They got Stewart Reese on campus somehow this weekend, even though everyone thought he was going to FSU and has an offer from every team in the south. Hope they can get him to committ. Didn't land Carmouche today and Reese is no longer visiting.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) Yep, he's now being projected 2nd round after his performance at practice. Sounds like Miller and Jihad Ward from Illinois are two of the guys who have made themselves the most money so far this week.
  10. Eh, they are in on enough guys where the class might not be a complete joke like it is right now but it is going to be a bad class.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 11:39 AM) Obviously this is for pure discussion, but interesting none the less. https://twitter.com/jon_greenberg/status/692386136505847808 Interesting in that the salaries match up? That would be a remarkably stupid trade for the Clippers and even if they decided they wanted to be done with Griffin they would do way better in a trade than that.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) The ooc schedule was embarrassing. Barry scheduled to try and save his job and he might have done just that. Still, this is the best team we've had since we were a good program and they seem to be improving as the season goes on too. 2 of the next 3 are Evansville and @Wichita so we'll see what happens. If I had to guess we'll lose both but I'm just wired to be pessimistic about SIU basketball at this point. And this is a team that's just getting worse and worse. Obviously it helped a ton when they caught UNC and ISU because of injuries and what not but still, it's pretty crazy what's happened to them. To be clear, I haven't seen Southern Illinois play so other than just looking at their raw efficiency numbers I have no idea how good they are. I'm just saying that they have actually played the sisters of the poor for their schedule and other than replacing a marginal at best Kent State team with another truly garbage team it would basically have been impossible for them to have put together a weaker schedule.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 09:06 AM) Salukis are 18-3. It isnt like they have been world beaters(they got smoked by Wichita St), but their schedule hasnt been sisters of the poor either. It doesnt make sense but it has been fun so far Um, they have played one of the weakest schedules in the entire country (337 out of 351 per Kenpom, RPI isn't as good of an indicator but they are 291 there as well).
  14. So I think people are going to take too much away from this one game but the one thing that is clear is that the Warriors will have more room for error when these teams play in the playoffs. The Warriors are capable of beating the Spurs when they aren't playing their best but the reverse is definitely not true.
  15. Spurs getting run off the floor right now. Steph on fire tonight and the Spurs aren't sharp. Not a good combo.
  16. The Spurs uncharacteristically really sloppy against the Warriors so far. You cannot turn the ball over against them because they are just ridiculous in transition.
  17. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 25, 2016 -> 05:51 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting...016/illinois-26 21 total commits. 7 3* and the rest are 2*. Not that star's mean anything but it shows you how poorly they really do recruit. What a total and complete shock. We are now going to be in a position that the 2017 defense (and most likely the whole team) is going to be a complete disaster regardless of coach. So rather than hiring a new coach with a solid roster with a ton of seniors they will inherit a complete s***show on defense and they will almost certainly have a worse record than Cubit will have next year which will be terrible from an optics standpoint. So f***ing dumb. Or even worse is Cubit goes like 6-6 or 7-5 next year and we retain him and this staff still recruits like crap and then 2017 and 2018 are both complete disasters and we hire a coach when there is zero talent left on the roster.
  18. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 25, 2016 -> 10:21 PM) The conundrum known as the bulls continues. They consistently play good D and they are consistently bad on offense. There is no real conundrum.
  19. Terrible performance by the Bulls. Gasol played well, Niko had a solid game and Brooks was also solid. Horrible from everyone else.
  20. So Rose injures hamstring and will not return tonight (I was a little confused by what Stacy King said but I think that is what he meant). Hamstrings can linger for a long time if it remotely serious. So now they are saying lower back and right hamstring.
  21. So Cubit's recruiting is going about as well as I expected it to so far. And by that I mean this class is freaking abysmal.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 24, 2016 -> 01:55 AM) It's an interesting strategy by simon. Seems to be playing conservative as all hell which you don't really see much by big underdogs. What's very strange is that he wasn't playing well at all until about the 10th or so game in the second set. Tons of unforced errors himself despite being conservative and still took the 2nd. Yeah, very interesting to watch. But while he is still very much in this match it just doesn't feel like he has quite enough weapons to actually beat Djokovic.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 24, 2016 -> 12:57 AM) Djokovic looks really bad tonight. Yeah, quite possible he would be playing better tennis if he was facing a Federer or Murray but if he played this quality of tennis against one of the other top guys he would be getting destroyed.
  24. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 11:05 PM) Taj was a man tonight. He played well and Pau was a stud. Cleveland is such a weird team to watch. Made the finals last year and have a great record but they have been together for over a year now and while they have stretches where they look awesome there are also a lot of stretches where they look really confused on offense and defense and they just get by on pure talent. I don't think it is all on Blatt at all but I really have no clue what they want to do on offense and while they have some guys who will never be great defenders a good defensive coach can get plenty out of Love and Irving. Thibs would be a great fit there from just a coaching acumen standpoint but I don't think the personalities there would ever allow for it. It will be interesting to see if Lue can get anything more out of them because while they are very good right now they have zero chance against the Spurs or Warriors.
  25. Solid win. Of course this is the same way the Bulls have won just about every other game against a good team in the last 7 or 8 years. s***ty offense and good defense and then it helped that the Cavs could make an open 3 or a free throw tonight.
