  1. The White Sox made a bunch of good plays on defense this weekend. Absolutely wonderful to see.
  2. There is stupid. And then there is White Sox stupid. Seriously, WTF?
  3. Bonemer looks like he could play outside linebacker or strong safety in the big ten right now. Kid is thick.
  4. I did not realize that Naylor is a bad defensive first baseman. I thought he might be a good sign for next year but nope.
  5. I am guessing both Smith and Burke only have about 60-70 innings left this year. Someone will be eating innings for them the last 4-6 weeks of the season. Perez would be the best case. It's rather depressing
  6. Clevinger and Vasil to the rotation when Houser and Civale are likely traded?
  7. 7 walks tonight. Beautiful.
  8. literally after I hit submit I thought about Charnoneau. If anything on his wikipedia page is real he is even more interesting than I realized. He could drink beer through his nose?!?
  9. Does anyone remember a player falling off the cliff like Robert? I don't recall seeing a guy that has experienced success in the majors turn into this.
  10. Yep, that's what this is all about, justifying Rojas' contract. Which is unjustifiable.
  11. He is interesting, that's for certain. Very impressive stats. It's the relatively low strike out rate that is really nice to see. He is a big guy, maybe he can develop more HR power too. He needs some more time at AA, but 2 more months of this and he may be a legit prospect. Particularly if the Ks stay low. Does he end up in left field? I don't know how good he is on defense.
  12. He looked like he was going to be a legit #3 in Milwaukee a few years ago and then...he wasn't. This is a dumpster dive that could conceivably work out. If his shoulder is healthy and the sinker is working he can get major league hitters out.
  13. since moving to Charlotte he has only come out of the pen. before today 7 IP in 4 outings so they're keeping him stretched out??
  14. It's also not unusual for a defense to implode when the manager makes a tactical and obvious blunder by forcing the defense to make high risk plays unnecessarily. In fact many people could have said before the bad defense even happened that the inexperienced manager was forcing the issue foolishly and without reason. It's called risk analysis. Some are good, some aren't.
  15. Will they hire from within? It would be a very cheap option, so it makes sense. Between the 2 I'd take Santos.
  16. I realize that he has been a major league manager for 40+ game and that is a very small sample. He is friendly, he is likeable and he seems to consistently make lousy in game decisions and it all comes down to risk management. I expected more, his reputation was he is quite bright. He won't be here in 2 years. PS - I don't blame him for the head scratching lineups, I assume a lot of those decisions are not solely his.
  17. Will Venable is not the long term answer. I was already thinking this, this inning proved it. As soon as he pulled in the infield in I told my Cubs fan of a wife she was about to be very happy.
  18. I doubt Smith will be allowed to pitch enough innings to win the ROY. His IP the last 2+ years: 2023 59.2 IP 2024 94.1 IP 2025 43.1 IP Just a guess on my part but I think he will throw @ 140 IP. That will limit his potential WAR. They are not apples and apples, but I was surprised how many innings the Sox let Crotchet throw last year (146). So maybe they let Smith go for it in September and October?
  19. So you’re the problem. You need to leave the country. Take Grifol with you.
  20. Grandal, Moncada and Giolito not sucking would have the white Sox in first right now. That would be a 8-10 game swing just there. find a starter, be a little but healthier, find a new manager, fix RF and 2b (internally)…. Problem solved.
  21. Am I getting too excited? Can Oscar Colas be our right fielder next season? Or am I smoking something and drinking the cool aid?
  22. 2024 Probably more likely to have ReyLo than Rodon. Gio will be gone via free agency Lynn could be here, hope he is, that means he was awesome for us the next couple years and they pick up the option. so hopefully Lynn, Cease, Kopech, Crochet and (wow am I really typing this) Lopez. the whole Lopez in 2024 is weirding me out, pretend I didn’t type that.
  23. Good Tony: TLR seems to still be able to understand a clubhouse. He leverages the veterans. Smart He is overly dependent on the lefty/righty matchups when making a lineup but but his lineups usually do make some sense. He uses his bench more than fans want but come playoff times he hasn’t ran his team into the ground. Also smart. Bad Tony: For the love of god I have never imagined he would be this horrific, awful, terrible and embarrassingly bad at in-game decisions especially about his bullpen/ pitching staff. He literally makes two or three unacceptable decisions a week. He is not fit to be a manager. Ricky was better than Tony with the bullpen, and I can’t imagine a worse criticism towards a manager. (Tony is still way better than Terry Bevington)
  24. Ha, yeah, Cease and ReyLo are our hottest pitchers right now. That’s hard to wrap my brain around.
  25. Another Sox fan that lives down here in Tampa. I am going to the game tonight and the beloved White Sox have lost 7 in a row with me in attendance. So I apologize in advance. if you’re coming to a game at the Trop don’t be in Orlando or somewhere and try and drive in. You will not enjoy getting to the stadium. Stay over on the gulf or down in Sarasota. Very few bars around the stadium but downtown St. Pete has lots to offer and isn’t too far from the stadium. Overall a better experience than it’s given credit.
