Hahn trying to say Kimbrel was only bad because he wasn't in a closer role is just Hahn trying to maximize Kimbrel's trade value. He's trying to convince other GMs that if they trade for Kimbrel and put him back in the 9th inning role, they'll be getting the lockdown version of Kimbrel. Maybe he's right. And maybe this is the smart way to approach it. But it's pretty obvious what he's doing.

Semien would be a great addition but two things here that really make this tough to swallow. 1. Second base is a hole we opened up that wasn't there a few months ago. I loved the Kimbrel trade at the time but it just sucks it went so poorly. 2. Semien was also given away in a trade that worked out poorly for the Sox. I'd like to solve RF before 2B but obviously would be happy to land Semien. I do not think we'll be the highest bidder for him though.
